Remember kids, if you vote for Hitman 3 for PC Game of the Year then you are okay with all the always online bs and a strict “no mods allowed” policy
HMF not in best game community nominees? That poll is rigged.
Well improvements are always welcome but just don’t want them to start changing skyboxes and stuff like they did for 2016. Although Paris and Bangkok benefits a lot from Goty skyboxes compared to Sapienza that now is overcast and cloudy basically
This site might work better for doing the vote:
Not exactly Hitman 3 related, (though there is a bit in there!) But it’s a super interesting read of a fun company-wide creative week at IOI.
This is my favourite part:
What was achieved:
Here’s just some of the highlights of what we achieved during IOI Week, October 2021.
- We held a full-week training course on how to design a level, for non-level-designers.
- Our animators put on the MoCap gear and tested live motion capture in our in-house MoCap studio.
- We sat down and played our own games. That’s people working on them, and those that aren’t.
- A small team in Malmo made a fully playable game from scratch. It took place in space, and cats were involved.
- Our Render team worked on new features for reflections, shadows and… hair in our Glacier engine.
- We researched new ways to perfect physical combat in our games.
- Our QA Team shared a rapid-fire presentation designed to demystify some common QA processes.
- Our HR and Recruitment team shared top tips for how to interview your future colleagues.
- A single Level Designer created a sample level in our engine based on a well-known movie. After watching it, of course!
- A multi-disciplinary team worked on a quick-fire way to showcase mood and atmosphere in an engaging way.
- The Marketing Team dived into an alternative way to travel the World of Assassination.
- We looked at using new software and technology to aid our Environment Artists’ quest for world domination.
- One project that was described as ‘over the top awesome’ grew in size to the point that it needed a ‘credits’ screen at the end. It was all about [REDACTED].
- And a few other, even more redacted projects!
Good doggo
Even though we didn’t get to see too much of that, I love the transparency in how the employees are being taken care of and what out-of-the-box creative freedom you’re giving to everyone in this special kind of ‘event’.
If that’s you @Travis_IOI or @Clemens_IOI who did the write-up, great job! It sounded like a really fun time for all.
i think clemens did the writeup, but yes its an awesome read. ioi seems like a cool place to work
Ah thanks. Edited him in too.
That really sounds like an awesome and enjoyable week, being able to see what everyone is doing and how they’re doing it, really brings a full team of different people together
It’s also the impression I have been left with when visiting, also the “new” studio is very cool.
In order to run the game, a new Glacier Engine extension was developed, which has been proven to allow ray tracing at some time in the future. Unfortunately, this technology has not yet been included into the game, nor have any other high-resolution technologies such as NVIDIA DLSS or AMD FSR, despite the fact that the game incorporates AMD FidetlityFX CAS technology (Contrast-Adaptive Sharpening).
However, it appears that the next-generation game update, which will include super-resolution and ray tracing, will be released next year in conjunction with the Intel Arc Alchemist discrete GPU series.
It seems that the ray tracing patch for Hitman 3 has been postponed for 2022 according to some articles, remains to be confirmed.
EDIT :
4K XESS with 1080p performance cost. Hitman 3 is the first game presented with this new technology. Intel is open about XESS, to be compatible with a broad range of hardware and companies.
Reminder that voting ends on Friday.
All done!!
Hitman better win!!
If this will bring us any closer to a GOTY edition then I don’t see a reason not to vote.
Today marks the 300th day of HITMAN 3.
The nominees for The Game Awards 2021 were revealed today. While I’m disappointed that HITMAN 3 wasn’t nominated in the Game Of The Year award, it got a nomination in the Best VR/AR Game award.
The Game Awards isn’t the only outlet giving out awards though. There is still hope for other events and publications/media to recognise H3 with a sweet GOTY award.
Lol I was just writing out a comment to post here too
See companion meme in The Ultimate Hitman Memes Thread for context.
It always warms my heart when Hitman gets it’s moment in the spot light.
Yes, and it’s well deserved. If there is one developer who has always taken PC gamers into consideration since their very first game, it is IO.
Epic exclusivity is one thing, I can understand the frustration of some players but the situation was understandable. Anyway, let all PC players enjoy HITMAN 3, Year II and PC VR.
And just because I’m bit nostalgic, I leave this here :
