I don’t always get excited for DLC…
But when I do, its because it’s DLC for Hitman.
Gotta say, while I have massively enjoyed a couple of the bonus missions, like Landslide and A House Built on Sand, the whole concept of re-tooling the maps kind of bothers me.
I feel like maps like Dartmoor and Chongqing (as exampes) are all made based on a certain artistic vision, and changing the weather/time of day/scenario just to get some quick and easy content kind of compromises that vision…
I mean, it’s not like I won’t play them, or even enjoy them, but it’s always in he back of my mind with these things.
I agree to be honest.
You could get away with it for maps the size of Sapienza, Mumbai, Santa Fortuna and Marrakesh, because you can justify returning there and using under-utilised sections of map.
Smaller maps which have been designed for a specific story/gameplay purpose are more of a struggle.
Shut up and take my money!~
Yeah, and also like I’ve said before the newer maps are designed more around every part being used for the story mission, whereas Sapienza and such had lots of barely used areas. As much as we all want bonus missions, I really do think it’s a different calculus in H2 and now H3.
Bangkok and Whittleton Creek are the 2 maps that need a complete overhaul imo
I mean, Dartmoor, Chongqing and Mendoza use very small parts of their respective missions. Even Santa Fortuna barely uses the caves and Isle of Sgail barely uses the tippy top of its towers.
I love the lighting of daytime Mumbai. Too bad there’s not much to do on that level. I wish it was enabled in Contracts Mode just so we could enjoy its visuals longer while tackling user contracts. I know it doesn’t add anything unique compared to the standard Mumbai map, but you gotta admit it’s pretty.
Miami parking lot could have Fight Club.
To me it shows how strong the art direction is without the egregious color filters in every level
I sound like a broken record, but ever since 2016 GOTY I’ve wanted to turn it off with no avail in-game or with mods
Agree to disagree on that. They use use entire maps much more effectively IMO.
My biggest disappointment with the WoA trilogy was the lack of a fully-fledged snow map, so I hope some DLC would remedy this.
Honestly, look back at the trilogy and see just how many teases and near-misses there were for a snow mission which would never come! SPOILERS!
I know IO have already said they won’t make any new DLC maps but…a mountain village-ski lodge level would be the cherry on top of this tremendous game and a Day One purchase from myself…but that ain’t gonna happen.
Anyway, vent over. Sorry to derail the topic!
I can only laugh because otherwise I’d cry/angrily tweet at IOI some more
Felt exactly the same since 2016
+/- your interpretation of 47’s smile
I completely agree. Let the man have some fun!
I wonder if the engine can’t handle snow deformation yet (or at least handle it well) so they worried it would look poor.
That’s why it’s a “Bonus” Kent! Way better than “Special” Assignments. Nothing Special about them!
I can’t believe it. A Sniper Ninja outfit from Hidden Valley/At the Gates as suit for 47?
Well I guess these two levels are are two of the most memorable missions of the whole franchise. Just not for the same reason as fan favorites like Traditions of the Trade or Beldingford Manor.
To bring back even more nostalgic feelings may I suggests the following complications:
Level 1: Every NPC is now an Enforcer who can instantly spot 47. The distance of the NPCs view cones has been tripled.
Level 2: If any NPC dies you will fail the mission. NPC will sometimes randomly fall of the train and die.
Level 3: If the train stops you will fail the mission. The train sometimes randomly stops during the mission.
Jokes aside that’s a pretty cool outfit.
Got me wishing for a full snow/winter themed patient zero type campaign
Berlin would be good with snow and some more conventional targets (instead of the ICA agents) I reckon
