I don’t really think of the additional content in terms of paid or free, but I feel like we got a fairly equal amount of them (really don’t know the number of them of the top of my head though). Either way, the bonus content so far have been only escalations, plus we don’t know at this moment how much of the Year 2 content will be free or paid…
Well, as far as new maps are concerned, I would think that that takes time. It makes sense for them to use easier to make content such as the 7DS in the meantime. Plus I assume the Epic exclusivity also played a role in some of this.
I like the idea of upgrading a safehouse. Maybe even customizing it with (already in-game) assets you could buy with money.
Fans have been asking for a map creator tool and it’s understandably difficult to do that, but a simplified tool for customizing just the safehouse might work.
Personally I would want to purchase this monkey statue as seen in Hirschmuller’s back office and Vanya’s train for my safehouse, for instance, lol
IOI had announced at Hitman III’s release that this would be the end of the Trilogy, and that they would provide post-launch content for one year, with new elusive targets and new content generated on existing maps.
The selling of Hitman III now as “Year 2” makes sense because they are now preparing for the Steam store launch of Hitman III and want potential buyers of Hitman III for PC to believe that Hitman has future content releases and is still worth purchasing.
This why there was emphasis on PC upgrades during the Year 2 reveal with the PC VR and ray tracing.
Watch for new Hitman III launch alongside paid DLC “Year 2 Season Pass” on the Epic Games store and Steam. For those who don’t already own Hitman III, the basic game and DLC will be packaged as a Year 1 Anniversary Edition or something like this.
I assume that the PC VR, ray tracing and elusive target arcade will be free upgrades for all Hitman users.
The paid DLC will consist of a new story consisting of a series of missions in new and existing maps.
I bet the release will be …“EPISODICALLY”… My guess is that now that there is now a large player base for Hitman III, an EPISODIC release wont hurt them this time. IOI will get a bigger advertising buzz if they have all players complete the content in monthly installments at the same tie. This is what IOI hoped would work in Hitman2016, and I bet they return to seven years later in 2022.
I am not quite sure why I was tagged in this. I was simply praising IO. I know it is year 2 for “HITMAN III” but it is year 6 for the story and they have done an amazing job. That is all I was saying.
To the contrary I would say that 47 is not the type to care about interior design. He probably only cares about his supposed basement training grounds and shooting range. The rest is about keeping up appearances. So he probably bought the place fully furnished. I think the key factor here is how remote the location is.
I’m especially interested what the “new storylines” thing means. I’d love to see some Mini Campaigns like PZ was, some altered maps, a few Cutscenes here and there and a nice short story.
Don’t forget about suitable visibility to the surrounding area and a viable escape route. 47 has to assume that if anybody comes for him, they’re coming in force, and he has to be ready to flee rather than fight, unless they’re stupid enough to only send a handful. 47 would not choose a place unless he knew that it was suitable for both standing his ground and making a swift exit that nobody would see.
Personally, I don’t really care about the hideout unless there is a mission involved with it. Otherwise, it’s like a golden statue: pretty to look at, practically useless.
What if there’s a level where you have to work with Diana to defend the mansion. She can control distractions and traps from a safe room while we take out guards one by one. And if IOI really want to go for the gold, she can make coy references to Absolution. (“Heading to the bathroom, 47? Looking to powder your nose, or are you hoping you’ll find something a little more…interesting?”)
OMG this is great!
So what is this new map anyway? It looks like 47’s hideout and it’s AWESOME.
But will we get any more maps? What about those new plotlines? This is all so exciting!
I actually planned on deleting the game to focus on newer ones like Halo or Elden Ring. I guess Hitman 3 will stay in my PC, and I’m glad.
I thought about something like that, too, but I guess we already had something similar with Wrath, so I don’t think it will be some mansion-defending-thing again. But it sounds cool though!
I wonder if one of such “new game modes” might be some sort of a detective mode or related to the camera (which had limited use so far).
The detective mission story was widely praised on professional reviews and the clue-searching Envy escalation is one of the player favorites from the 7DS.
It’s certainly something stealth/infiltration related they can backwards implement to every previous locations without really disturbing existing routines.
This seems like good news to me! Unless all this new content is tied to buying the game on Steam… I’ll be interested to know if we can use the VR features without getting the Steam version.
