Hitman Absolution out now on IOS and Android coming to Nintendo Switch November 13th 2025 and Nintendo Switch 2 in 2026

Even if that were true, SquEnix must’ve been involved when making these new enhanced versions, right? I can’t imagine them not to be, considering it was released during their tenure. And remake or not, they’d probably need to be compensated or something because people at SquEnix worked on the game in some capacity.

I could be way off, but I can’t imagine them sleeping on this either.

Except IO said they’d look into reimplementing server functionality on PC in 2017/18. Like with so many things we got told, this never happened because…[insert reason here] (lack of communication, SquEnix said no and IO didn’t tell us, i’m sure you can think of something more creative and damning that’s reflective of the situation).

I find it fascinating that a company with less resources has managed to make an, in theory, superior contracts system, which is not only on a game that is from 2012, but isn’t always-online, has cross-platform contracts support, and cross-leaderboard support, something H:WOA still hasn’t got, and IO seems to be fighting tooth and nail to not implement.

What a time to be alive.

I will ask, but chances are slim. Just to manage expectations here.

I’m gonna swing with people who know how to do these things are no longer in the company. Or that they deprioritized Absolution stuff as a whole. But sure could also be Square Enix for some weird reason and it would kinda be bad form pointing fingers to another company, so we would not know.

I’ve been asked to poke you about the Hitman Absolution Servers on PC. If porting over the newer versions of Absolution to PC is too difficult or unfeasible, then may I suggest just replacing the old server host with another? The main reason Contracts Mode was removed on PC/ Consoles was due to the server host not complying with GDPR guidelines, so it got axed, and we were told a solution was being looked into. It was not necessarily promised to us back in 2018, but they certainly implied to be looking into it by IOI at the time, but we never got a response back, other than the irritatingly vague answers of “we’re still looking into it” and “it’d be nice to have”.

Weasel words I have heard far too many times before, and I’m sick of hearing.

Like how Peacock exists for H:WOA, Cobra (heh, also made by the Peacock project) exists for Absolution on PC, so this is certainly possible to do.

I’m sure there’s some legal red tape to overcome with Square Enix, but I’m confident that this can be resolved for the benefit of all players.

I hope you take all of this into consideration. :peacock: :snake:

Not necessarily. IOI has absolute control of the HITMAN IP courtesy of Square. Square has no involvement with HITMAN’s future titles and this includes re-releases. So everything HITMAN 2016 and before is fair game so long as it’s that specific release, but if IOI were to release something like Absolution again on the next PlayStation or Xbox Square wouldn’t have involvement since again it’s IOI’s intellectual property and they can do with it as they see fit.

No news is still news and that news is the servers will remain offline. if IOI do a new PC release then who knows.

It’s as simple as infrastructure. This company got handed the keys to Absolution (most likely the source code) to make these native ports possible. By extension the source code contained the things necessary to bring life back into the contracts mode. Since this company has always aimed to enhance their releases and make them feature complete it’s not all entirely surprising that they were given the keys to open these doors and the chose to open these proverbial doors.

the WOA situation is largely different simply due to it being their current up to date title and discrepancies between PC and Console in terms of Cheating and the overall Skill Ceiling when it comes to Speed Run tech.

simply put it stuff on PC can’t be replicated on Console so having separate leaderboards only makes things fair.

That is…certainly a take.

It’s insulting that the new version is getting contracts mode but the original release is still left to rot.

On a side note, I was wondering how exactly to use Cobra. I’m currently using LennardF1989’s server emulator which, from what I know, is Cobra’s foundation. But I could not find any instructions on how to download or use Cobra.

If no one knows why, the reason is always the same. Money. There is no things that can’t be done. Question is - does this is profitable. Sad truth.
