Hitman Absolution Pre-Beta build

Don’t know where to post it, so I’ve created a new thread.

On Hidden Palace, some pre-beta builds of Hitman Absolution are available.

If you’re interested (as I am) in beta versions of Hitman games, here is a video I’ve found today on Youtube. It shows a prototype version of the King of Chinatown mission.

It’s interesting to see the changes IOI has made between the prototype and the retail versions:

  • Point shooting is a little bit different, where 47 makes a small animation during the “loading” of Point Shooting mechanic.
  • The evidence is located in the drug dealer’s appartment.
  • The target can be knocked down. The target’s picture is illustrated with a “Zzz” in this situation.
  • The animation where 47 dumps a body in a crate is a little bit different from the retail version.

I’ve seen that vid before. Absolution’s development history is rly fascinating. You can tell at this part, from how 47 awkwardly rotates, that the player used to be able to move a bit during h2h. Also, those are clearly beta fighting moves. I remember being surprised by 47 knocking out the king when i first saw this vid. I wish IOI had kept that feature. Ah, seeing this old build takes me back to the Absolution days. The game had a rly nice art style and tone. Shame, we got that boring, sterile bond vibe in the new games. Not to mention, Absolution easily had the best face for 47 by a long shot.

Ah yes I remember talking about it in 2021, there was two leaked builds
it was very laggy for me though so I never really checked those in depth

Another video I’ve found on YouTube about the beta build of Hitman Absolution. It also shows the King of Chinatown mission.

This video is interesting as it shows the challenges tab. Different elements can be observed:

A) The challenge guide is less obscure than in the retail version. It tells you exactly what you should do to unlock this challenge.

Ex: The “Two for the Price of One” challenge.

Retail: When the targets align, anything is possible.
E3 Build: Use the sniper rifle to eliminate the King of Chinatown and his dealer with one shot.

B) Some challenges were cut in the process like:

The King is Dead (eliminate the King and exit Chinatown). Replaced by “Quid pro Quo” in the retail (where only finishing the mission is required).

Closer and Closer - Part 2 (eliminate three of the King’s dirty cops while wearing the dealer outfit without being detected). A prototype version of the “Veiled Death” sequence of three challenges, which was shortened to two in the released version.

C) The requirements for one challenge were changed:

Drop Dead (unlocks by dropping heavy loads or by pushing him into the manhole) - this second possibility was eventually cut.

D) Some challenges were added in the release version:

Evidence Collector and Mastery
These two were probably added to keep consistency between the different missions.
