Hitman briefing

Hey Everyone,
Thought I would drop a message here,

Hitman Briefing #3
March 12th at 1PM CET on Twitch and Tiktok we will be live again.

What to expect:
Happy Sparx and tired Combatglue :stuck_out_tongue:
We will have two guest interviews
Some community check-ins

Want to set the expectations right and say we won’t have much new news this time.
There is a lot in the pipeline, but that will come later!

Hope to see you.

I leave you with this gem:

Will use this topic to update more streamer things!

@LandirtHome if you want, maybe drop a summary on this thread and we can keep the topic live together?

Neat.

Ok, good. 24 hour heads-up, set expectations off the bat. This is the kind of communication we like to see. A 48-72 hour heads-up would be preferable, but in the words of Ken Morgan, one shouldn’t nitpick.

I’ve pinned the topic for now as well, especially if briefings are becoming more regular. This way everyone has easy access to the updated info :slightly_smiling_face:

That’s so good to hear! It’s comforting to know this game will keep being updated in the future! Wouldn’t mind seeing new Celebrity ETs, they’ve been great so far. Maybe even new items (Dual Ballers please!!!) and something crazy like a proper Photo Mode as well…

By the way, if someone wishes to do the live summary of the live, feel free to.
I won’t be able to.

Contrary to last time, I am neither working from home today, nor do I have an evening phone call meeting freeing the early afternoon.

Thank you Samir and Katherine for the stream. :purple_heart: It was definitely my favorite one so far and I loved seeing Diana! I was also really happy to be mentioned and see so many people I know in the chat!

If you want to see the easter egg Samir was talking about, click on the spoiler below:

Also, Anthony Fuller, who was also in the chat and a fellow modder, created these screenshots below with a little mod!

The short summary for those who didn’t watch: :purple_heart:
The first segment was the community check in - chatting and watching some community videos
They then looked at the best reddit posts to celebrate 200k subreddit members!
There was a wonderful interview with Nicole the brand manager
(she said something interesting: speaking about hardcore fans “as of today, we are exploring some ways to expand the experience”. That could mean a new game mode/ contracts update is being considered)
Last of all, Diana did an interview for IWD!
It’s definitely worth a watch for those who haven’t yet :purple_heart:
(Samir- I’ve sent you another long message with all the community feedback and questions that I have gathered, thank you for replying to the other one!)

I’m sorry, but the answer to one of the first questions is absolutely insane.

Question: Is it possible to make Special Assignment missions available to create contracts?
Answer: I’m not 100% sure on what you mean, but we are doing something call Featured Contracts.

To put yourself front and center like this, there needs to be at the very least a basic understanding of the different things that are in the game that you are there to talk about. Why would the community want to actively take part in streams regularly where answers like this are given, which creates a vibe that the people watching have more of an understanding about the game than the people that are meant to be the ones feeding us information?

Especially when a claim is made just a few minutes later that the two people on the stream, as well as the community, “know the game inside out”.

For the record, Special Assignments are bonus missions released in HITMAN 2 that are part of the Expansion Pass.

And have existed 2019, at least under the moniker of Special Assignments. You’re right, that was just embarrassing. Was like watching an interview with an economist on Fox News or something.

Hey Thrison, I understand you find this irritating. I’m sorry about that.
I have played Hitman in the past but never went deep, and I am still semi-new. Since the franchise is 25 years old, there is much to learn about Hitman.
So even if Katrine and I might not be 100% understanding of everything, we will at least face it and listen.

So, if we do not have the best answer now, this is a perfect forum to lift it. It will help us understand what the community is asking, and we will try our best to dig up the answer. If not directly, we will work for it after.

I will add this to the list now, and see what we can do about it. This might be a topic that we revisit for the next stream.

I hope you guys understand us and help us so we can work better for the community!

At the risk of being flagged again, I greatly dislike that reasoning. The two of you have been a part of the community since the start of 2024, claim to know the game inside out, yet don’t know about parts of the game that are sold to players, and haven’t either come across it, or learned about it during that time at the company? No matter which way you spin that, that’s a bit of an odd situation. At the very least, wouldn’t you be briefed on what the game contains by anyone else at IO, given that, as the PR people, you’re the ones responsible for garnering interest and selling it to fans and outsiders?

As Thrison rightly pointed out, why should players ask questions when the vibe is that the PR team doesn’t know much about the game to give satisfying answers? I appreciate you lot being honest about being semi-new to the game, but that seems to be the underlying problem here. I’m not expecting 100% perfect knowledge on bullet/ panic distractions or have a detailed knowledge of the story, those are complicated and hard to understand in their own ways. But having cursory knowledge of the content you’re selling seems…I dunno…like a fairly low bar?. I don’t think it’s asking for much when the PR team should present themselves as if they have information players don’t. Because right now, that’s not what it comes across as optics-wise.

Like I said recently on Discord, its not like the question was “what is the sixth word in the fourth line of the conversation between Novikov and Max Decker when they meet at the pavilion in Paris?” - because who tf would expect someone to know that?

Being aware of what is in the game and what is being sold to players is something I would have assumed would be something covered fairly early on when entering these roles. Not knowing about Special Assignments 14-15 months later just has me wondering what else are we taking for granted that these people know about the game but they actually don’t?

I think the answer, or lack of a sufficient or clear one answers the question. Which would be “No”.

Because if that was something that was going to be a thing… Well, they might give another non-answer such as “We can’t say anything at this point.” Which, to me, makes me think there are plans for (whatever) but (we’re) not going to promise (whatever) in case the plans to bring (whatever) don’t pan out and (we) have to apologize for yet another thing.

And more contract locations, with the ones we already have, just seem like bloat, IMO.

Back to the answer that was given… Was this one posted in (a) chat? because it feels like a quick and somewhat dismissive answer that wasn’t given much thought – you know… Time constraints. A better answer might’ve been “Currently there are no plans to add any more or other missions outside the main campaign and current side missions, but it’s something we’ll consider.” and leave it as a ‘wait and see’ kind of thing.

“Is it possible…”

It’s very likely possible. And if it is possible then “please add Special Assignments for contracts mode!” is what they’re really meaning to “ask”.

And we’ll come full circle with…
Based Samir answers: “No. Next question.” :joy:
