I’ve seen another post on here with the same issue, they quit the game mid-freelancer and now it won’t load, and uninstalling the game or restarting my Steam Deck hasn’t worked either. I have not seen any true solution to the issue either. Neither IOI or the forums give a coherent answer. I really don’t want to completely reset the game and lose my progress, so is there anyone here that can give me a solution?
Complete reset won’t help as this is not game system issue.
If you have mods, some of them, especially outdated will prevent the game to start Freelancer.
Disable them and enable one by one to detect a culprit.
Once you find it, either get rid of it, or search for latest version.
Sometimes helps if you launch Freelancer straight away after booting the game.
Just open it and go straight to Freelancer menu and start the game.
It will disconnect if you go somewhere else first, either it will be menu or main game or whatever.
But if you go straight to Freelancer it should work

That’s the thing: I’m playing vanilla (with DLC) and entering freelancer first thing on the main menu.
