Hi, I’m hoping anyone can help me with this. First, I apologize because I know I’ve written too much and because my English isn’t very good. The main problem is what’s highlighted in bold. Here’s the background:
I had the physical version of HITMAN 3 for PS4, which worked without any issues and showed a tab in the menu to access VR, but I decided to buy the physical version of HITMAN World of Assassination for PS5 because I really liked the cover art for that version and could then give or sell the PS4 version to someone. I deleted the previous PS4 and PS5 versions and installed HITMAN WOA with the new CD. The problem is the code that this version includes to play VR on the PS4 version. I entered the code and it downloaded the complement HITMAN - VR Access. However, in the PS5 version, in the HITMAN game menu there is no option to enter VR mode. (In the news section only an announcement tab appears to purchase access for PS VR2, which is not the one I want) In the PS5 menu, when I select “change version” to try to download the PS4 version, it apparently downloads it, but it is the free starter pack, which is a demo (around 80 GB). I also do not see the option to play PS VR1 in this demo . I have restored the licenses and it does not work either. There is no way or option to download a PS4 full version from the Playstation store and the " HITMAN WOA PS4 version" seleccted from the PS5 menu dowloads the Free starter pack demo too .
In my PS5 library (not the storage), there are 4 versions with the same name and cover image:
-HITMAN WOA PS5 CD version - has the VR Access add-on downloaded with the code that came in the box.)
(The one I have installed on the PS5) requires the CD to launch.
-HITMAN WOA PS5 digital - from the PS4 CD I had before, thats the upgrade that allows you to play ps5 version - (it’s uninstalled from the console)
-HITMAN WOA PS4 Version - The one I downloaded from the PS Store, but when I launch it, it shows the free starter pack demo without VR, the only PS4 version that can be downloaded- (I have it installed on the PS5)
-HITMAN WOA PS4 CD Version - appears with a lock
(it’s uninstalled)
- I’ve read a lot of people who buy HITMAN WOA PS5 and the same thing happens to them as me, they redeem the code but they have no way to play the VR1 version)
- My game is from the European region and I play and download in the European region too
I am a Japanese player who owns both the physical versions of PS4 and PS5.
I also own the digital versions.
I have played PSVR1 on PS5 in the past.
First, PSVR1 can only be played on the PS4 version.
To play PSVR1 on the PS5, you need to use the backward compatibility feature to insert the PS4 version’s physical disc and launch the PS4 version.
On your PS5 physical version, the PSVR1 icon will not appear in the game menu.
Although they may appear similar at first glance, the PS4 version and PS5 version are different applications.
Physical and digital versions are also treated as separate applications.
If you have not purchased the PS digital version, the PS4 physical version is required to play PSVR1.
Additionally, the app must be installed on the PS5 using the PS4 physical version.
Then, by launching the game using the PS4 physical disc and connecting PSVR1 to the PS5 using the PSVR1 connection adapter, you should be able to play it.
If you have sold the PS4 physical version, you will need to purchase the digital version and install the PS4 digital version to play.
Then, by launching the PS4 digital version using backward compatibility, the PSVR1 icon should appear, allowing you to play.
Note that even with the PS4 version, the PSVR1 cannot be launched using the free starter pack.
In other words, PSVR1 cannot be played on the PS5 physical version.
Hi Tom, thanks a lot for answering me but you are mistaken, the European PS5 version comes with a download code for the PS4 version, I’ll translate what it says:
“To enjoy Hitman VR missions on your console, you’ll need to use this code to download the PS4 version of the game, which can be played on PS5 with backwards compatibility”
I know that you can only play VR1 on PS4, the problem is that when I entered the code, an Addon for PS5 called Hitman PS VR - Access was downloaded, but in the PS store there is no option to download the PS4 version. From my library in the PS5 menu when I select PS4 version from the PS5 icon it downloads Hitman Free starter pack PS4 version ( a demo without VR) There is no way to download WOA full PS4 version or access to VR1 hitman
I see, so the European version comes with a PS4 code.
In that case, if you hover your cursor over the HITMAN 3 icon and open “select version,” isn’t the PS4 version that requires a physical disc listed instead of the free digital starter pack?
If the code has been entered correctly, the PS4 version should appear in the version list.
The physical disc PS4 version should have a disc icon in the top right corner.
If that is not the case, it may be a special case.
You may need to contact IOI’s official support.
Hi again Tom, thank you very much for your help. I contacted IO support this morning, and an agent emailed me saying they would create a ticket for the team to review my case.
I’m going to post this video here, where you can see that I have the VR-Access add-on, and what appears to be downloaded as the full PS4 version is actually the free starter pack demo for PS4 There’s no way to download the full PS4 version to play VR1.
Hi Xire ,I have not been able to solve it, I have restored licenses hundreds of times, deleted PS5 cache, completely restored the PS5 and nothing works, as I said above I have contacted IO and I still have no response, they told me that this would take time, today I contacted PlayStation and sent them a screenshot of my code, they opened a number for me and told me that in approximately 5 days they would respond by email, I have read that several people have the same thing happen to them with the code, I think it is an error in the licenses or in the PS store, because it is unacceptable that you buy a game with a code and you cannot access that version, I recommend you, log in and open the contact form on the IO website explaining everything that is happening to you in detail,
Small update, I have received a reply from IO support though this doesn’t solve the issue as the only “banner/prompt” I see is for PSVR2 and redirects me to purchase it. I have replied to the support ticket and will update if they get back to me.
Edit: I have gotten another reply and I have been told they are looking into the issue, no idea how long this’ll take but thought I’d give this update anyways.
There’s no way to download the full PS4 version to play VR1.
