Hitman: World of Assassination -- Sapienza

So, what I said, then?

Too bad things didn’t went so smooth as you said it. There was that old interview where Hakan said he really felt the pressure of 2 years of crunch out of the 7 years of development for Absolution, only to fail expectations from Square and the fans.

The point is IO for some reason after reaching some degree of success, they have this need to get a newer casual market on board. At the cost of alienating part of their dedicated fanbase.

Their response and how they’re rationalizing this Sapienza bundle is just looking like they’re gonna fall in the same predicament they were in during the mid 2010’s.

Failing expectations, and being an actual failure, are two different things.

An outcome of business growth, unfortunately.

@PeterDuttonMP 's having a laugh, this one’s a false alarm!

Either way, its still generating the same general posts on a consistent basis for people that aren’t joking.

The “Upgrade Pack” for “Part One” buyers has been lost on Steam.
Those who would buy “Part One” during the current discount sale will have no way to upgrade to “WoA Standard” except by buying the “Episode Upgrade Pack” which includes the “Part One” they already own.
This would create uninformed users who would end up paying double for the “Part One” portion.
Why was the “Upgrade Pack” lost?
Was there an announcement about this anywhere?

No, there was no announcement.

Because of course there wasn’t.

Bet y’all a toonie they meant to remove the redundant “Episode Upgrade Pack” but instead accidentally removed the Part One Upgrade.

Considering they couldn’t even be bothered to watch @Dribbleondo’s video about it before putting it up for the world to see as an unintentional endorsement of their own roasting, the likelihood of this possibility does not surprise me.

You can still go to the upgrade pack through this link: HITMAN World of Assassination Upgrade Pack on Steam

They added a new item in there “HITMAN 3 Access Pass: HITMAN 1 GOTY Edition” which makes no sense since WOA part 1 already has this

And another weird thing is this one isn’t discounted while part 1 is discounted.

That’s always weirdly been included in the Upgrade.

Likely intentional. Otherwise you could buy discounted Part One + discounted Upgrade and buy the full game on a discount in two transactions, when the full game isn’t currently discounted.

It’s genuinely concerning how out of touch IOI are currently still being – with no more input from @Combatglue other than the existing statements. The Sapienza Episode is not a low cost entry into the game, especially when Part One is still on sale for cheaper at times. Make a location free forever if you want them to try the game before they can commit to Part One – at this rate, just reduce the price of part one permanently to replace the Sapienza Episode.

Or at the very least bring back the free map rotations and use that as a marketing tool again. They haven’t used that since the end of 2023, 2024 only had seasonal stuff be F2P (+ CelebrET Arcades).

They already had a perfect system in place, but they got greedy and decided to try monetize it instead. Now they’re losing new players due to the confusion of the purchasing process and turning some of their dedicated players against them… All for a cheap buck.

Thanks for letting me know.
I was able to verify the new link.
I see no image or description on the new link, just as the “Episode Upgrade Pack” did.
and, Oddly enough, the discount sale, which was supposed to last until February 7, is still closed.
Did they prepare the page in a rush?
Hopefully in the future the new pages will contain the same detailed information as before.

Something needs to change.

The pushback isn’t just on here, but across all social channels at this point.

Sell the game as is and not in pieces.

I wouldn’t expect much more from now on. Clearly IOI doesn’t have a clue about what they are doing, and they don’t care.

I would say, probably (hopefully) more accurately, that those who are making the big decisions are the ones who don’t know or care what they’re doing. :crossed_fingers:

I honestly don’t know at this point. If @Combatglue really is being forced to defend IOI than you’re probably right. But not saying a thing after so many mentions is just irresponsible.
