This turn in their behavior is practically tangible and cannot be denied, so cynicism, or at the very least, skepticism, is quite warranted.
Anyone else think it’s a bit odd that only Steam is getting Sapienza for free? It almost makes me wonder if IOI has forgotten about the other platforms the game is available on… Or maybe they just feel like they get the best chance of people seeing the free portion of the game and choosing to buy the rest on Steam, rather than the other platforms.
It’s definitely not due to a factor I overlooked, such as number of players on Steam compared to other platforms.
It could be due to the distribution model itself. Like maybe on PS5 and Xbox they’re not allowed to make DLCs free on a whim, while it’s easier on Steam.
To be honest, I think they just wanted to use Steam so they could only worry about one API, rather than focusing on EOS, Steamworks, PSN, Switch, and Xbox for a 36 hour sale.
The game is quite heavily discounted on other platforms;
- PlayStation (May 28th - June 11th)
- 55% off Deluxe edition
- 30% off Drop, Splitter, Undying, and Trinity Packs
- Xbox (May 27th - June 2nd)
- 55% off Deluxe edition
- Epic (May 15th - June 12th)
- 60% off Standard edition
Street Art, Makeshift, Deluxe pack, WOA Deluxe Pack, 7DS, and H2 Expansion are all 30% off on EGS.
I wonder if when Part One goes on sale now, if it will go back to its previous $2.99 price point instead of $8.99 like it was changed to when Episode: Sapienza launched. Or if that’ll hang around because “they were buying it anyway, more money”.
Great news, it was very confusing in the end
Thank you for listening to the feedbacks
Did this pack only ever give you access to World of Tomorrow or did you get access to all other Sapienza levels as well? The Icon, Landslide and The Author. It’s been months of discussion and I still don’t think I know what content exactly did this version of the game even include…
For me it gave me World of Tomorrow, The Icon, Landslide, Holiday Horders and Hokkaido Snow Festival
I think they should cancel everything and make another hitman.
Hokkaido Snow Festival and Paris Holiday Hoarders are both free content even if you don’t own their respective levels? Interesting info, must work the same for the Starter Pack version then. I also thought The Author would be included in this bundle for sure, nice to have confirmation on what this included.
Nope I had the starter pack on steam before this and it was just the ica missions and dubai tutorial you only get the holiday content for a bit when it’s that time of year like right now with the Dartmoor garden show
wat?
So they neutralised one of their ongoing marketing tools (F2P Seasonal Content) which is meant to incentivise people to buy the full game by giving them permanent access to some of it? Honestly, its probably more of an oversight from when they cloned Part One to make this than anything intentional…
Their Entitlements
properties are changed to blank arrays, which means no entitlements check here.

I have just confirmed that the link to the “HITMAN World of Assassination Episode Upgrade Pack” is no longer available on the Japanese Steam Store.
Users in Japan who have obtained “Episode: Sapienza” are no longer able to upgrade to “HITMAN World of Assassination”.
”HITMAN World of Assassination Upgrade Pack", which is still available, does not include the HITMAN 1 DLC.
Those who received it for free on May 30 may choose to purchase “HITMAN WoA” instead.
However, users who purchased “Episode: Sapienza” at the regular price before that date will lose the entire purchase price of “Episode: Sapienza” in this way.
I understand that “Episode: Sapienza” is no longer available, but the in-game purchase announcement at is still encouraging people to purchase the “HITMAN World of Assassination Episode Upgrade Pack”, and discontinuing it at is creating new confusion.

Postscript.
When I opened the properties of “HITMANWoA” from the Steam library, I could turn on/off the DLC, so I made a video to simulate the same state as “Episode: Sapienza” and reproduced it.
Also, Another problem is that even though I got “Episode: Sapienza”, for some reason only the “Sapienza” DLC does not exist and I can no longer make it into a starter pack.
It does no harm, but I would like to be able to turn the “Sapienza” DLC on and off as well.

One step forward and two steps back.
Delisting the Upgrade Pack for it is monumentally stupid. It was hidden fairly well on the storefronts that you really had to go looking for it to find it if it didn’t apply to you that there would have been no major harm in leaving it up for those that did actually pay to purchase Episode: Sapienza in the past.
Now the only upgrade path is to buy the full game, which will end up costing them more than if they had never opted in for Episode: Sapienza initially (assuming they don’t buy WoA on a sale). Unless literally every person that paid for episode has upgraded (unlikely), this is super scummy of IO.
@Combatglue Why is this now a thing that IO is doing?
I must ask then, what was their plan exactly with this freebie? Make the Sapienza Edition free, delist the upgrade pack…and then assume people will just buy the whole thing later?
That seems like treating potential customers like a four-lettered word I can no longer say on here.
Like with many aspects of this pack, the company did not think through the effects. Even after it was buried, the Sapienza Edition wreaks havock to those who claimed it.
