Hollow Knight: Silksong

This is the place to discuss Team Cherry’s internet-breaking 2025 action-platforming exercise in pain and finger strain.

Please blur spoilers as you explore and uncover the world.

General gameplay tips and movement strategies may be left unblurred if they don’t ruin any surprises.

This is going to be a long and intense journey. Let’s embark together.

(As of this writing, the game has met its release date and time, but no one has been able to buy it on any storefront or any platform.)

Shaw!

It’s interesting to see all the Hollow Knight influence in the Silksong enemies. Not just with the designs, but also with various movesets. It’s also cool to see all of the new attacks and movement options the enemies have.

Oh, and for anyone playing on controller, you should try clicking the right analog stick. It has Hornet do a little animation. Despite how it looks, it does not work for attacks or parrying, but it is a neat little callback to Hornet as she appears in Hollow Knight.

It deals damage but is not worth it haha.

That’s news to me. I tried to use it multiple times to kill stationary enemies and attack obstacles, and had absolutely no luck with it. Does it have a different swing hitbox than the animation suggests?

I used it on one of the plant enemies in farfield, the black circle one with white eyes and leaves above the head. They died after a few hits.

The hit box is very small to the point I was hit by them before they were hit by the strings sometimes.

if it’s the move i think it is, it’s a taunt, i think? it attracts enemies.

I found that when going to the Extras section of the main menu, you can seemingly trigger something by using directional inputs for the sequence of up, down, up, down, left, right, left, right. But it does not seem to actually unlock anything. Perhaps you need to have beaten the game to actually receive a reward?

It unlocks a Permadeath Hard Mode if you start a new game from what I’ve heard

Yeah, I noticed yesterday that it unlocked Steel Soul mode, but forgot to mention that on the forum.
(Spoilered for consistency, but this is also a thing available in Hollow Knight.)
