How long are users considered "new"?

Hi, I’m new to this forum (1 week) and I’ve only posted in the Hitman 3 fan-made contracts thread.

I definitely have more than 3 replies in that thread already, but now the site is telling me I’m not allowed more than 3…?

Can I get some clarification on the reply rules? Maybe threads like that should allow more? How long until I’m not “new” any more?

You can get to the Basic user level by doing the following:

Get to trust level 1 by…

  • Entering at least 5 topics
  • Reading at least 30 posts
  • Spend a total of 10 minutes reading posts

At a guess, it sounds as though you maybe haven’t entered enough topics?

Awesome, thanks for the response. You are correct, I haven’t read enough topics, I’ll do that now.

Is that user level stuff documented somewhere? I looked in the welcome & guidelines topics but I didn’t see anything.

Yeah, all the trust level stuff is here:

There’s a link to it in the new user tutorial, but a lot of people skip that.

Also, if you get a DM from Discobot, look at it.

It gives you a nice little tutorial on how comments work, how to quote things, stuff like that. I think it also links to rules about Trust Levels, so it’s useful to learn the ways around the forum easily.
