Maybe if they thought they could sell $5 patch DLCs, we would have a game that would be in a much better state. If they think the poor quality patches aren’t going to come around and bite them in the ass as they get closer to First Light’s release - they’re going to have some regret.
Especially if it does turn out to be a trilogy. People will be looking to WoA as a blueprint of how that plan may unfold…
If they continue this pattern of poor communication and poor QA with their new game First Light, it will alienate a lot of core Bond fans who pick it up unaware of playing anything to do with WOA beforehand. I like to think that their bigger teams have a wider QA team available, because if not, then it could be a disappointing release. Come to think of it though, HITMAN 3 released quite poorly too with the mandatory online servers being offline and broken due to demand for 5 days+ after official release in 2021
I also understand that Samir has been busy with the Bond 007 Gamescom show though looking at his recent activity streaming on Twitch/Twitter etc, I feel like he and his other Community Manager colleague should be more active in an ideal world. The current situation feels like voices are listened to every once in a while and those voices aren’t always given a reciprocal reply back either.
I have gotten used to how IOI operates over the years, like many of you have done as well. I am quite tired of how it’s gotten now though. I open up the game rarely as I can’t find the time but mostly its for those Elusive Targets/Featured Contracts and it’s sad to see the state some things in the game are in. Wrong images (nitpick is all of the inventory images are blurry on my screen, but that’s probably because I’m playing in 4K so the UI is 4K but everything else isn’t!) typos, language translations, weird bugs introduced in every patch! The frustrating thing is that these bugs have been fixed by mods on PC yet IOI does nothing about this.
I don’t like to be all doom and gloom as the HITMAN franchise is still something I’m incredibly passionate about and enjoy the series, but there are outstanding issues that should be addressed at somepoint and this sort of thing cannot afford to happen in their upcoming game release!
It honestly frustrates me to read the summer roadmap thread and find out what has been going wrong over the past few weeks. Glitches, bugs, typos. Along with questionable ports being released with weird pricing schemes.
IO is being radiosilent on the issues for the most part. Meanwhile I see CombatGlue streaming Hitman on Youtube with barely any views. The IO account is reposting bullshit memes from unknown streamers half the time. And during Gamescom we got teasers for what looked like new content, when in reality it was another gag featuring CombatGlue doing fuck-all.
Stuff like this tends to piss me off from time to time. You got a handfull of problems and a community on the fence about it, and IO’s response so far is showing CombatGlue being jolly and ignoring our shit like we’re not the ones playing their games. C’mon man.
Noooo! It was all done so just to give the players the best experience possible!!1!1!!
I absolutely loved not being able to play the game for a week on release just because the servers for my always-online singleplayer only game didn’t work!
I genuinely wonder what combatglue even does to warrant being on IO’s payroll.
We were told in May some of his duties were being put onto someone else so he could be more present in the community. In the last month, we’ve had a grand total of one post on here. Somehow, even with less day-to-day responsibilities, things have gotten worse. Countless tagged posts have come and gone in the last month, none have been acknowledged.
I know HMF is just one small part of the community, but jesus christ…
This was my response to that initial news of change:
This is going to be like “The Liability” but instead of being a “safety inspector” he’s IOI’s current “community manager.” Everything he’s done (or hasn’t) was on purpose (edit: Mmmmmaybe?), building up to this.
Yeah its been happening with about the same consistency as this on every other platform. Aside from Livestreams there is zero communication from Combatglue.
A tour was being given of IOI studios, one person had to use the bathroom and lost their tour group when they got done. They then see Combatglue to ask him where the tour group went.
Yeah that still quite irks me tbh, because v1deost did such fantastic work on it and only a handful of people will see it now.
And btw I sent him that along with my batch selection in March, and asked him repeatedly to check it would be included in the following months..
I even said I could add it to the thumbnails myself if needed.
I’d heard that player artwork had been selected to be in the next offering, but haven’t yet seen it.
WoA will likely be bankrolling First Light’s development, along with any credit line IO has. Video games, like pharmaceuticals, take a large investment and a long time to produce, so you need your old faithful aspirin and other generics to keep you afloat in the meantime (and provide assets for credit). WoA is IOI’s aspirin
My main hope is that they’ll fix the major Switch bug they introduced in the last update. I can now play it for maybe 30 mins at most without a crash, sometimes before I even see the title screen.
With it being the Cloud version, I can see them ignoring it and delisting it (like they did with Stadia). If they do that though, I ain’t starting all over again on another platform. Heck, if they don’t fix this then I’ll probably be forced to abandon the game!
Yeah I was too ranty, pardon me. I still stand to my position that IOI should use other methods of communication if their manager is on vacation. He isn’t the only one here in the HMF.
