March Roadmap - Moral Ambiguity (2021)

I am eagerly awaiting the solstice suit that was leaked. I’m expecting we’ll get it around whenever we get our first H3 ET, but man it looks clean.

So I feel like I haven’t heard anyone talking about this but the Berlin Egg Hunt is a limited time mission and is going to be removed from the game after like fortnight. I thought we all agreed back in H2 that we hated that and IO started adding them in permanently

The quote from the roadmap is

The Berlin Egg Hunt will be playable from March 30 – April 12 for all HITMAN 3 players

So I guess we can already see what’s going to be a big item on the March 2022 roadmap, re-releasing it again but permanent  I see why IO does this, but is anyone actually a fan of this method of content addition and then removal?

Ohhhh! I assumed it was just Berlin, with a couple of re-skinned items and an untied strait jacket with no gameplay implications

I’m a fan of that profile picture!

In multiplayer games? Yes, but that’s cause it’s usually delegated to LTM/Challenges/Rewards.

Call of Duty does this once per season usually to garner attention towards a new experience

  • Haunting Of Verdansk (BR Map Overhaul/LTM/Night Time)

  • Rebirth Resurgence (BR Mode)

  • Outbreak (Zombies Mode)

These are accompanied with challenges that unlock exclusive items that are delegated to the challenge period so once these items are gone they are gone for good for people who have yet to earn it. But things like Rebirth and Outbreak remain after their respective event period ends.

If it’s single player content, I have no issue with Seasonal Content, but labeling them as limited time events is the wrong way to do it since essentially they are glorified challenge packs locked behind unique variants of levels to explore.

To me that’s core content that’s no different to a Bonus Mission and I often question why they remove these levels when it’s unnecessary to remove them to begin with given they comeback permanently.

I totally agree with you guys. This is not an MMO.
I remember how people were not happy with this decision in 2019 during the Christmas holidays.

But apparently someone in the studio really likes the concept of time-limited content.

Must be the new ET concept they teased pre release. It simply includes Bonus Missions now. :joy:

EVERYONE would prefer that seasonal content stays around permanently after it’s released, there’s not a single player who would prefer to lose that content after a time-limited window.

We all get why IOI does it, but I just wish they’d listen to what their players want for events like this rather than trying to squeeze out those extra few early purchases, especially now we know that the game’s costs have been made back and then some, at this point.

Players. Don’t. Like. This. Stuff. IOI.

Do we? I understood it when it felt like they were promoting that stuff. Like in H2016 when they had a companion app for ETs. Or in H2 when they had a whole marketing thing around Mark Faba.

But now if you’re not already an owner of H3 and keeping up with news around it then I don’t know how you’d find out about this stuff. Like who exactly this limited time stuff is supposed to draw in? Because that’s the whole point of it, right?

People who watch videos about it, for example. Outside Xbox for example definitely will do a video on it, and they have a ton of viewers, and are known to be big Hitman fans.

The app was great, getting a notification and watching the video really made me feel like a Hitman getting briefed. Sadly they didnt continue it.

You know what, I agree! Now there’s even LESS reason for them to do this stuff!

IOI, for the love of Diana, please stop giving us things to do in our game and then taking those things away from us later down the line.

Urk, please stop, you’re gonna make me puke. I get it, MMOs are designed as unconscionable timesinks, but now even FPSes are filled with the same toxic FOMO nonsense.

Keeping players invested over a longer time may result in more publicity, because the game stays relevant, also for game journalists and players who talk about it with people who don’t own it yet.

It does not always have to be direct publicity.

To me it depends on the kind of content.
Something like adding, say, Christmas hats to NPCs are intrinsically temporary content just to commemorate any kinds of seasons.

Now, the kind of well crafted seasonal content of the likes of Holiday Hoarders it’s such a waste to have as temporary. I’ll take my time to enjoy this Easter content to the fullest while I can for now, but at least it’s likely that in a future date it’ll become permanent like the seasonal contents for Hitman 2.

Valentine’s Day content where you have to shoot two people with special Cupid’s “love guns” (reskinned tranq guns) to make them fall in love. You can even add a silly 47 Cupid suit.

Do it, IOI!

I still don’t understand why they removed the Halloween, Christmas and Snow Festival missions, most people probably did the progression carryover, so when in October they say “you can unlock this” most the players have it already

I think the fact that people thought they wouldn’t release new ET’s within Hitman 3 was absurd. They were always going to give us H3 ET’s.

Out of curiosity when did we get our first hitman 2 ET, as in how many months after release?

I’ve asked this already but the link didn’t work, but is there a thread for the Berlin seasonal content

12 days after release lol

I like them, but then I am already used to seasonal limited-time content from games like Rainbow Six: Siege. It’s cool to play holiday-appropriate game modes for a kind of holiday ritual, it’s satisfying to experience something at the same time as the hard core fans who go hard as soon as the game is released, and they’re usually so gimmicky that it’s hard to imagine coming back to the limited time modes for replays. I like it the way it is.

(ETs are another story.)

I don’t think there’s a thread yet, but it’ll probably be created when we get more details as said

Hopefully this upcoming week and not the next which’d be just about the release time, lol
