[MOD] Chongqing Noodle Massacre

A member of the modding community believes they’ve found a way to improve the music (I won’t name them yet in case it fails and they get embarrassed :kissing_heart:), if so I’ll try add in some cops I’ve now made new outfits for and do an update in the next week.

You mean one new outfit? :scream:

Noodle Massacre 1.1 - pUt In MoRe CoPs

Guards:

  • MASTER DIFFICULTY: 4x Police Officers added
  • All Asian male voices now have guard lines
  • Indian voices removed

Classic Soundtrack:

  • No longer echoey + you no longer have to quit the game for music to change (Thanks to @2kpr)
  • Night/Contracts: Now has two ambient tracks and one combat track. Combat track does not always play, and instantly cuts out the millisecond combat ends even though I told it not to
  • Music made quieter and I gave the C47 track a slightly crisper sound (Thanks to @Invalid for converting the tracks)
  • Music level is affected Dialogue volume slider in options (Don’t ask)

Miscellaneous:

  • Unintended ledge to get into ICA Facility has been removed (previously accessible via Peacock)
  • Ledge from walkway down to restaurant back area is now ‘illegal’ in all disguises
  • Hobby Knife removed
  • Optional SMF 2.0 manifest available

Trivia - My intention for Master mode was to have a racist cop who follows you everywhere if he sees you (modelled on Colorado Stalker). He wouldn’t enforce you unless you’re in cop outfit, he’d just be annoying. However after hours of crashes that I couldn’t figure out, I gave up so I could just release the update. There was a spike in downloads after BigMooney’s coverage, sadly those people have just missed out on this update and are unlikely to notice and replay straight away

This is some seriously impressive work.

Nostalgic, but fresh. I like how it takes an underused location from Chongqing and turns it into the centrepiece of a new mission. Also, it’s nice to hear Vivienne McKee as Diana again, without the excessive adjectives.

Yes, just ignore his big cheeks clipping through the mask :flushed:
I sorta rushed some things

Fun fact: this is the third most ‘liked’ topic in the new HMF, after Year 2 Announcement and Full List of Unlockables. Thanks to all who took an interest in this mod (which still ranks quite low in Nexus lel) x

Its an beautiful update this mission looking better from update to update.

I just think The Block need little refresh, its so empty and wasted.
I think the Blue lotus or Red dragon gang or maybe both need to put them there, like
7-8 guards patroling/stand with Uzi in the second floor and third floor its can be really nice adding. More challanging intresting and nice to travel, and mainly to fill this dead place in something :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

So it turns out in the SMF2 update I forgot to update 2 lines of the manifest, causing immediate crash to desktop when you hit play

~90 downloads of this version and no one mentioned it until today :weary:

Thankfully it’s now fixed for real, and I’ve put up just the manifest for anyone who doesn’t want to download the entire mod again

Future Update

Freelancer moves some game files around, which messes with the outfits present in this mod, I will also be adding Noodle Massacre as an option for Freelancer, so will be using the opportunity to do a little update to the mod. A large amount of these changes are for the benefit of Freelancer, which will use more of the map.

Currently on the list to do are:

  • Add trespassing zones to areas of The Block (including lady’s apartment)
  • Fix the non-trespassing spots in restaurant
  • Add some police tape to The Block upper levels so it’s more like a crime scene
  • Some security (cameras and normal-locked door) to the Block
  • Tweak lighting in the arcade
  • Arcade clerk will now carry arcade key and it can be used on locked arcade doors
  • Lights in Lady’s Block apartment will now all be controlled by fusebox, instead of just some

Since this is based on changes made to game files for Freelancer, it is unlikely to be released before Jan 27th. Otherwise I’d have to manually do the file changes IO is going to do anyway, and that will just add to deploy time, then I’ll have to take it out and push another update once Freelancer is released… you get the idea

I think could be nice to fill the Block in more npc and some guards
It will be excellent for the Freelancer

Converting it to Freelancer is enough work. Only ~2 rooms in Block will have stuff added

@Kevin_Rudd will the level be available in Showdowns as well?

Yep

I’m working on non-showdown stuff first but I should almost certainly have showdown done by Freelancer’s release.

I don’t know much about the PC modding scene and who are the big ones (and the big mods) but man, you’re like a mad scientist playing God with Hitman 3.

With the help of a bunch of others, you add an original mission to the game.
Now you’re adding that to the Freelancer mode, indlucing compatibility with Showdown missions’ unique NPCs and props…
Wow

1.1.2 Update

Most of these changes were done to prepare the mod for use in Freelancer Variations, and will not make much difference to the original mission for the player. It means you can now use this standalone mod for Freelancer Variations instead of using that mod’s in-built Noodle Massacre files option.

Only thing that seemed to be ruined by the game update was the two unique civilian outfits disappearing, they were fixed.

  • Fixes outfits being ruined by Freelancer file migration to chunk0
  • Gives Random woman mysterious glasses
  • Re-enables CCTV in The Block and Courtyard
  • Adds trespassing zones for The Block
  • Karaoke Music no longer causes crash when you exit session in range of it
  • Improves arcade lighting
  • Adds daytime LUT that has been missing entire time and I didn’t notice
  • Improvements made to random lady’s apartment
  • Relevant keys given to arcade manager and ICA apartment guy
  • Crime scene tape added to upper floors of The Block
  • Fixes gaps in trespassing zones of restaurant
  • Various backend changes to reduce file size and (hopefully) decrease deploy time
  • Enables auto-updating

Add a noodles fiber wire and have it be in the possession of the woman working in the kitchen with her being able to eliminate 47 with it if he has his back facing towards her and alert status is hostile. And if 47 knocks her out he can collect the weapon from her.
