You asked two (or three, I would say Evans is a stunt cast to bring in the MCU crowd) questions and used one answer to answer them. Impressive word economy, I must say.
There is no reason and absolutely nothing is stopping them from doing their own sci-fi film but new stuff doesn’t make the required money anymore so they have to do stuff like this.
Yes, yes, linguists logophiles(?) everywhere fear me. Tell me something i don’t know.
I get that. Lightyear is made with the Toy Story IP to get even more money than if it was your average “new Disney movie”. It just sucks you can see the blatant corporate money-making moves here
I mean I don’t expect anything less from Disney, they are one of the big factors that have led to the dire state mainstream cinema is in and they have actively participated in the other factors they aren’t responsible for. I recommend taking this year to watch something that isn’t made by a multi-million dollar company.
The current movie landscape is a never ending cavalcade of artless references, remember thats and nostalgia baiting. (With the occasional good new thing)
Very mysterious-looking trailer. Cool to see in these spoiler-filled trailer years.
This is looking like a really CGI-filled Marvel movie. (But personally i think it looks really cool! Lots of connecting elements from previous films/shows.)
I’m finding myself having trouble getting enthused about The Batman now. I really enjoyed Justice League (both versions, tbh) but the “controversy” with the Snyder Cut, the lackluster reaction to Superman, and the (imo) over-saturation of Batman as a hero over multiple different films has left a bad taste. I suppose we’ll see.
In other news, Star Trek 4 is back on track, so that’s something!
I’m ok with it overall because they’re trying different takes with the Batman to see what will finally work perfectly. My issue with the new film is that because of executive meddling and taking too long, the version Ben Affleck was gonna do with Deathstroke as the main villain isn’t happening. In addition to that, I really hate the suit design in this movie, especially the coke. It’s the bat ears; they look more like antennae for an insect. It seems that nobody can get a bat suit right. Michael Keaton’s came closest but he couldn’t turn his head, Bale’s looked like cosplay, Affleck’s was too grey and the ears too short. Nobody can get it right.
You got an article that neglects to mention the best news ever. Baby Shark is getting its own movie! Hooray! Hollywood is where the best parts of the human spirit go to fucking die!
