Movies You’ve Only Just Watched

I suppose that could make some amount of sense, but wouldn’t those tumors kill him eventually? What about that time he got shot in the eyes and couldn’t hit anyone? (Granted, he was initially supposed to die there, but it was still undone)

I’m going to say now that my knowledge on the Halloween series is limited

Edit: Nevermind, there are non-lethal tumors, I’m just an idiot

Yeah, my theory uses tumors that are benign, just located where they need to be to make Michael a monster. Or at the very least, are growing very, very slowly.

Yeah, the one where he’s blinded by gunshots, here’s my theory, and keep in mind, this requires the viewer to remember that unbelievably coincidental things happen in horror movies constantly: Laurie shot Michael in the face, but did not actually hit his eyes. In terms of plausibility, there’s no way that Laurie, who has clearly never used a gun before the events of that movie, could double-tap on Michael and have both bullets go through both eyeholes exactly without damaging the mask and blind him. It simply isn’t happening. So since it did happen, that allows this part to work; Laurie shot through the eyeholes, but the bullets hit Michael above his eyes and either embedded there or traced the outside of his skull and popped out the skin and mask at the back of his head. That does happen, as some people have tried to shoot themselves in the head and the bullet hits the skull wrong and just slides along the curve of the skull beneath the skin and bursts out the other side, never penetrating the skull. The blood from the impact points dripped into Michael’s eyes, blinding him, but temporarily. This explains how direct sequels to that film allow Michael’s eyes to still function properly without having him literally regenerating them, keeping him still more or less a physically normal human.

From what I have heard it seems like there is a unique movie about an aging slasher, finally being hunted by his escaped victims and their families trapped no less, in what seems to be a shallow reboot sequel.

I highly enjoy this “reboot” series, well for what it is. Halloween Kills is very much the middle installment in a three series act and it is easily felt. Overall both Halloween Kills and 18 are more interesting compare to most horror and slasher sequels and more engaging the last Friday the 13th entry. I enjoyed both films for what they are.

Security with Antonio Banderas and Ben Kingsley. It’s terrible. It was on netflicks 90 min movies category. Within the first 10 min I looked at my wife and explained the entire movies plot and we laughed bc we knew I was correct.

Serious Spoilers :warning:

Banderas is an out of work veteran (a Marine captain) who takes a job as a mall security guard and on his first night, on the other side of town, Ben Kingsley and his army of commandos intercept a US Marshalls convoy in an attempt to execute the little girl they are transporting. She’s a witness in some big trial of cartel bosses who have killed her whole family. No I’m not making this up. This really is the story for this movie :joy:. So the girl runs through the wilderness until she reaches the mall and then Banderas and his rag tag group of mall security guard friends must fend off a larger, better equipped, and more experienced force to save the girls life.

The acting is all around horrible and the story is full of things that make no sense at all such as Ben Kingsley waiting for over 30 min to have his men enter the mall when he already knows the girl is in there.
I’d love to tell you to stay away from it, but it’s almost so bad it’s good.

I agree with this. Let it be clear that H2018 was a fantastic slasher movie and did all of it right. The writing, the cinematography, the acting, music, etc. Halloween Kills threw all of that overboard and turned out to be another mediocre slasher flick. I still have some hope Halloween Ends will be as good as 2018.

Just saw eternals, not a good movie. Without spoiling anything when the main focus of your movie is the relation between certain characters you need make sure to convince the audience of the realness and strength of this relation. Which eternals doesnt do. The finale also pulls something out of its ass to get resolved. Though it was set previously set up it feels like an asspull due to it not being explained the first time and the second time its used the explanation calls the first use in question

Some characters were great though like Phastos and Druig. Makkari was neat too

3.7/10 do not recommend

I love all the Marvel movies, but I know that most don’t and have certain entries ranked worse than others. Won’t see this one for a while, but to get an idea of how “bad” it is, here’s my question: should Thor: The Dark World fans be thanking it?

yes, i truly believe i got more enjoyment out of dark world than eternals. mostly because modern marvel humour bores me and the cgi action of eternals got really boring

As a fan of the Halloween series I can say that the Script is a lot better compared to the final product that’s my personal opinion.

It’s a slasher film all things considered so dumb and contrived decision making is a given with these type of films. With that being said I have alot of grievances with Halloween Kills.

  • Paul Rudd was initially meant to return to the role of Tommy. This didn’t happened due to scheduling conflicts with Ghostbusters. AMH wasn’t a bad replacement, but his performance fluctuates.

  • The original ending from the final draft of the script was shot and shown in test screenings, but cut from the theatrical release making the film end abruptly.

  • This is was shot and if you look through the trailers and TV Spots you can see frames of it. To top it off DGG is restoring the ending for the home release.

  • Last how the film was shot and edited. For a film which emphasized on violence during a specific scene at the end it was shot and edited to where you really don’t see anything which leaves it simply feeling glass half full for a big moment like that.

HKills was a clearly film rushed into production and with H Ends being slated to start filming soon I don’t look forward to its social commentary aspect where current world situations such as the pandemic will be part of the world with them time jumping by 4 years. 2018-2022.

Probably would’ve made his character more likable, yeah?

Eh, I actually like that they’re bringing back the same actors 40 years later for the same roles. Brings it full circle.

Brian Andrew’s (Tommy in the first film) returning was out of the picture but that is a whole different picture. Rudd’s first acting role was Tommy on Halloween 6. The performance was…. different, but he grew as an actor.

Documentary about these college kids who want to kayak and end up on the trip of a lifetime. I wish they had gotten the guys back together for the interviews. You can tell the crew did one interview with each guy on one day and then moved on to the next. It would have been fun to see them together recounting their stories as a group, but it’s a fun story.

Saw Eternals this weekend, and boy are the audiences back. Long time since I saw so much people in one place.

Eternals is a film with a lot of ideas, characters and concepts, and even at almost 2.5 hours, it doesn’t feel like enough (and that’s with an opening crawl of text to explain some of the background, where I would’ve preferred a narrated opening LOTR style).
I really like a lot of the ideas and concepts, and felt ready to be sucked in to plenty of the character drama (Sprite’s problems with being stuck in a kids body, Thena’s mental illness, and so on), but again, the film doesn’t feel like it’s got space for all of it. It should either have been made into two separate movies, or a TV-series in my opinion. Now stuff like the development of the intelligent Deviant, and his reflections on the similarities between Deviants and Eternals feels mostly inconsequential, when it could have been a much more developed and fascinating part of the story.

I really liked the score by Ramin Djawadi, and the film has a lot of cool visuals. I also definitely liked a bunch of the characters, even though they are lacking in development. Probably the most interested in Druig as a character. Hope to see more.
The action is fun enough and easy to follow. I particularly enjoyed the forest battle but also shorter sequences like the final battle at the gates of Babylon which shows a lot of fun power variation and team work (I wish it was longer).

I did feel entertained throughout most of the film. I don’t think it’s bad, but it is overburdened, and suffers from it.
I think if you’re a fan of Marvel you’re definitely more likely to come out enjoying this than not.

Kill Chain with Nicolas Cage.

It’s one of those low budget action thingies with an intentionally misleading/confusing plot and more than one “reveal” moments. It’s a lot of fun though.

More like a movie I only just watched again, because I’d seen it long ago, but I recently saw The Star Chamber. This 1983 film staring a noticeably younger Michael Douglas is a pretty decent, low-tier movie for fans of Hitman and Law & Order. The movie itself is bland and unremarkable in most aspects, but it’s premise, and a few things it does well, are really interesting.

Douglass plays a judge who loses faith in the justice system when he’s forced to let two killers walk free in a child murder case on a technicality due to a mistake made by the cops. Afterward, one of his mentors introduces him to the titular (but never named in-story) Star Chamber. To anyone interested so far, spoiler warning here.

The Star Chamber in this film is a group of judges in the district Douglas works in, who are also fed up with how the justice system lets killers go free, and so they gather together secretly every week where one of them presents a case of a killer who avoided jail or was set free early or got too light a sentence, where they present the evidence against them that shows that they are factually guilty and are only free due to legal loopholes. The Chamber then casts a verdict based on this evidence, and if the unanimous verdict is guilty, they contact a local hitman and send him after the killer, and we are treated to the cooler parts of the movie when this happens. It is unknown if the hired assassin knows who the group is, knows why he’s been hired or why his targets are set to die. He may have simply been an average hitman who they just called up one day. It’s hinted near the end that he might be a cop during his day job, which would aid him in finding his targets and not leaving traceable evidence, and that further implies that he might know why he’s doing these jobs, but still maybe not. In the end, as cool as this setup is, Douglas brings the two killers he set free before the Chamber and they declare them guilty and send the hitman out after them, only for new evidence to show that they are not the ones who killed the child. The Chamber can’t call the hitman off because that would risk exposing the operation, and since the two targets are still guilty of other crimes, they decide to let it go. So Douglas must try to warn the two targets without them killing him for knowing their other crimes, without the hitman killing him after the Chamber warned him not to interfere, and figure out how to expose and bring down the Chamber, as these events show that they’re just as guilty as their targets.

The parts with the actual Star Chamber and their creepy, ominous council/shadow government vibes and the scenes with the hitman are really the only enjoyable parts, for me anyway, but there are some decent performances by some 80s actors you’ve probably seen in some crime/thriller movies, so it’s worth at least one watch for those reasons.

The River Murders.

The single most fucked up movie I have ever seen. Ray Liotta plays a cop. An old girlfriend of his ends up dead. Then another, and another. Obviously he is a suspect. I won’t spoil it. Christian Slater plays a jerk of an FBI agent who’s assigned to the case and Ving Rymes plays Ray Liotta’s boss.

It’s on Amazon prime right now, and it’s worth your time.

I have been catching up while!!!

Red Notice on Netflix. Dwayne Johnson, Ryan Reynolds, and Gal Gadot. Super fun, really silly, action packed and kinda funny. It’s like Indians Jones or Tomb Raider meets Oceans 11.
