Maybe it’s the guy from the radio commercial in Colorado?
This Saturday, The Hitman, Champion of the World, versus the ever-evil Spec-Ops #1! Who will win in the Cage of Death? Chairs, two-by-fours, and broken glass allowed. No rules! No rules! This Saturday! Don’t miss it!
That’s a really good guess. The clues line up and I would be fine with that. Now as long as this elusive contract doesn’t actually take place in Colorado we’re good
I hope not. Although I could honestly see the slurry pit area being repurposed as a makeshift fight arena, with most of the soldiers gathered around and hanging from the scaffolding attached to the barn, flinging beer bottles down into the pit.
I would love to see Colorado, but “civilian”. Militia removed and public access. Don’t see it as probable though, way too much changes for an ET. And the Dartmoor Garden Show already did the kind of stuff I would want to see there.
(Colorado Apricot Festival, when IOI ?)
More realistically, I wouldn’t say no to a “change of time of day” map.
Ambrose during the day should be fair to hope for, The NPCs and their loop would make sense to still be happening.
Berlin has a the legacy of the Satu Mare Delirium deluxe escalation for what it could be when closed to the general public, and of the Lust Assignation for no crowd and full change in the dance floor.
The largest question I have currently is how much of an event, as in actual happening in the level, this ET will be.
It’s going to be MMA themed, no question about it. But if it’s supposed to be during a match, unless they go for “underground, makeshift, lowkey operation”, or “match is later on, you are during the preparation” that’s a lot to change in level to give it substance.
We will see, who knows, maybe production value is ramping up.
No need to apologize, I’m more interested in the actual product than it’s advertisement, so I’m not really the target audience. I just don’t get it, and I tend to get snappy when I don’t understand something.
Well a short explanation to shed some light to this teaser, since the new ET is very mainstream we want to reach a bit outside our normal reach, so the tease was to try to be a bit outside the box.
So you nailed it with “I am not the target audience”.
That’s a relief at least. The whole point of a celebrity is to be recognizable, either by appearance, by voice, or by name; ideally by all three. And the point of casting them as ETs is that their recognizability makes it interesting.
Gary Busey was likely to be recognized by appearance and voice as that guy from 80s and 90s action thrillers and a short-lived comedy series, or by name for those who’ve heard him mentioned as such.
Sean Bean was likely recognized as that guy from GoldenEye, or from The Lord of the Rings, or from Game of Thrones, or the guy who always dies, or at least the guy from the One Does Not Simply and Winter Is Coming memes.
When Dimitri Vegas was announced, although we were all intrigued and ready to welcome him, I’m sure the response from the vast majority of the fandom was “who?”
Hopefully, the new person is someone recognizable.
Still, a Cosplayer ET would be a nice idea. You could even make him go by “Agent Hitman” because “Hitman” is not a title in our lore, just the IP name. Then the lore can pretend it is about a game with that name, totally unrelated to 47.
No matter who this is there’s always gonna be people who won’t recognize them. Like I’ve never heard of Busey before playing Hitman and if the next ET is from fighting sports I probably won’t know them either.
But in the end none of that’s gonna matter because I’m still gonna play that ET. So if someone I don’t know gets featured in the game and brings it a bit of publicity among a certain audience, that’s gonna be fine by me, I was already a fan of the game anyway and I didn’t need to be won over.
The fact that there are always some people who won’t have heard of a celebrity is irrelevant.
Busey and Bean have been in internationally acclaimed media. Even if someone doesn’t know the person, there’s a high chance they will know one of the films or TV shows they have featured in.
Dimitri Vegas is not remotely close to their level of fame.
A bit more direct than how I was gonna put it, but yeah, this exactly .
To be fair, Vegas might end up reaching that same level someday, after the fact, and this game might be part of why, so it might have done it in reverse with him.
Sure, but does a celebrity have to be on Sean Bean’s level of fame to be considered a celebrity or to be adequate for a CelebrET? Who cares if they pick a few minor celebrities who are only known in their respective niche? It’s not like that affects the gameplay in any way. I have no idea who Dimitri is, but his ET was great!
If CelebrETs are the way going forward, I’d rather have a few minor celebrities than only one or two major ones, because I want content for the game I love, not meet a digitised version of a famous person I admire.
