shame it’s such a controversial choice of ET because i think so far it’s really fun. fun idea, seems like good opportunities and im actually having trouble figuring it out without mission story guidance
I was wondering that myself!
My favorite part of The Disruptor is how much of a pushover he is when you fight him. He may be some sort of world-class MMA fighter, but he’s a bitch compared to 47!
I killed him with mission story. Whenever there is a trackable mission story in an ET, I feel compelled to do it (even though they never get a “Completed” tick on them like ones elsewhere in the game).
Also, I don’t really feel much hype for this to have made me want to bother exploring it further.
Another bug I found: if you approach the target as the mater of ceremonies, you can take him to “have a word in private”. The target follows you, but the problem is… he doesn’t stop. Ever. If you change disguse, etc. But if you run away far enough, he’ll just stand there.
You can buy the box art back for just 4,99!
I’m discovering now the new Summer roadmap:
Roadmap overview
A carbon copy of the previous roadmap with a DLC pack, a new ET, new challenges, FC, and returns of ET.
Nothing to say… The roadmap content was predictable.
New controversial ET
A new ET is good and refreshing for the game after several years… But I have a problem with the fact that this guest star is connected to a huge list of controversies. I don’t understand this choice.
DLC Pack
A reproduction of the Undying pack. The proposed items are just reskin of previous items. And the new suit is a big “meh” for me. Maybe the safehouse’s items would look great (have to see).
Challenges and new items
Durian: very interesting as it makes sick any NPC (and the item is not illegal to carry). Throwing up pandemy incoming!
ICA Impact Explosive: It’s not the gadget itself, but it gives me hope that other Freelancer’s exclusive items would be brought in the regular missions. Give other items like canister or micro proximity taser the same chance please!
Unicorn Horn and Pinot Noir: Well well… I don’t understand their inclusion
Conclusion
The roadmap itself is not surprising. Everything was almost expected, even the ET choice with the leak section.
Am I disappointed by the roadmap content? No, because the different things (challenges, FC, DLC pack) were expected. I didn’t expect more. Looking at the increasing list of items, there is no need to add more reskinned items. Though, addition of items with specific features (from Freelancer ) would be a good path to follow…
Am I disappointed by the ET choice? Yes. I did expect him (with intels from the leak section), but I didn’t react, waiting for IOI confirmation or infirmation. Today, it turns out the assumption of the ET identify was true. The multiple controversies (mainly sexual assaults allegations) make me think he was not a good choice. But, (if I have read correctly), despite being charged, he was never sentenced. So, even though I have a bad opinion about him, who I am to say if his place within the game is factually good or wrong?
The Drop mission casting Dimitri Vegas as a dj-turned-druglord set in Berlin? IO sure loves irony, something i never mind.
“Fun” fact:
There is now a string of data in the game that implies that, originally, IO planned for the DLC Arcade contract to be a single level.
{
"StringHash": 1115518360,
"String": "One level Arcade contract containing The Disruptor Elusive Target."
},
That would’ve been even more of a slap in the face had they proceeded with that…
Yikes.
I’m honestly surprised it’s two levels tbh. Still, at last they sorta kept to the ETA formula.
This is already out? It looks dope!
At least they decided against selling a permanent Elusive Target(ish). Since it was probably the level with complications.
I see mainly hate from this roadmap. While i cannot argue on the allegations about this McGregor since i have no idea who he is - i’m not as connected to the MMA universe bibaboop as you, it is still a good if not great roadmap. IO manoeuvers leading to its reveal may not have been the brightest of moves, distillating cryptic messages, hyping us more than we should have, expecting more than what a roadmap usually offers and then being all critical is i think being a bit unfair. Sgail is an odd location for but also a bold choice. Old ETs took place in the upper castle, they found a way to use that area for something else and that’s cool, the cage itself makes the decor look very cool. There is work behind this ET and obviously a will to shake things up a bit, giving goofy cosmetics (that cane omg). Now i’m hyped!
I mean tbf, kinda a lot?
That is a weird observation; the only expectation I had was for a list of bugfixes or changes made to the game. I’m not necessarily against the content we got, just that it was spread too thin to keep anyone interested for a three month period.
I’ve played a bit of the ET now, and yes, there is a lot of work put into this ET, but there is also plenty of odd choices too (half the challenge unlocks come to mind). One good thing does not absolve IO of messing about and acting all coy and secretive for so long, essentially shadow-dropping a patch, gave 30 minutes notice for servers going down, and having so few notable bugs or issues fixed.
It’s a combination of IO’s behaviour and the factors listed above that really put me off this roadmap and update, and the ET being good is not going to give them a free pass from being told what’s wrong from a critical fans’ perspective and state of mind.
I could’ve gone on a profanity-laiden tirade on this whole situation, but that would’ve done nothing, and IO would’ve likely just ignored me more than they apparently are now. I believe in telling them what’s wrong in a language they understand, instead of just constant bitching.
Mmm god damn, the use of the IOI logo that transitions into the arena fight was a damn good choice
The fur coat suit I think looks okay (if a little gaudy) but what the heck are those PANTS??)
