Next Hitman Game - Discussion Thread

That could very well be a possibility to be fair. To be honest with you, I’m expecting a time jump in the next game and with that, the story would have evolved, so I expect 47 to have moved on from the Safehouse by then. I think to be fair he’s only residing there whilst he and Diana establish themselves with their new murder for hire agency.

Pretty sure, someone brought this up before, but while screwing around in the game a little bit just for the fun of it, I recognized, that they should do more with the camera recorders. I mean, I get it, that in a map like Bangkok you erase the evidence at once, because it is a closed area. But I played a lot of Sapienza in the last days and it is just weird, that you erase all evidence and deactivate the cameras on the whole map, when you for example just destroy the recorder in the church. I mean, why would it all be connected? The church, the cave, the mansion, the town …

For the next game it would be nice, if there were areas that a recorder covers and you only erase evidence in that area, but the rest of the map stays active.

I think the idea is that Ether has it set up that way so they can keep an eye on any place Caruso might conceivably go, as well as their other employees. The other explanation is that 47 just knows how to access one security system through another and just shuts them all down. Only other place where this is a question mark is Mumbai and Ambrose island, where the two hideouts with security terminals are run by two different gangs, but since they all fall under the Malestrom’s and Akka’s jurisdiction, respectively, they could explain why they’re linked.

IIRC, there were separate security camera systems for different areas of the map on Sapienza’s initial release. You had to disable cameras for the mansion/church/town hall individually.

A decision was taken (I believe pretty early in 2016) to simplify this. Presumably they felt it was too confusing or laborious for the average player.

Should have kept it in for Master Difficulty. Would be fun and a little bit more challenging.

Kind of makes sense I guess. But then you have the embassy in Marrakesh, the biker club in Berlin, different facilities in Chongquing, or something like Whittleton Creek, where Cassidy put up a security system for the whole neighbourhood on his own before even moving in, while other houses don’t have their own system, but are attached to that or the one that Janus has in his basement. Far fetched, if you ask me. But to be fair, everyone in that neighbourhood is weird or creepy, so maybe it is normal then …

Yeah, I don’t know. 47 is a good shooter, but shutting different connected systems down by shooting one surveilance recorder with a gun maybe too much even for him.

I’ve heard that too, although it was before my time playing the game. I’ve also heard Bangkok also had a second console for a short time (in the security hut out back) but it was removed shortly after release.

A while back I made a list of all the levels with multiple consoles, and what appeared to be the “zones” they might cover.

I think the idea is that he is canonically not shooting the security systems. He’s either shutting them down by hand or just avoiding them altogether.

Yep, that’s correct - having played from release in 2016 (or before release if you count the HITMAN Beta!)

I have long wanted the different camera zones back. Paris had one zone (like all previous hitmans) so I can’t explain how cool it was when I first realised Sapienza had different zones. I still believe getting rid of the separate zones is the worst change they have made in WOA

They just need to make sure that they come up with a way to explain it to the player in the first mission otherwise it’ll fall apart like it did in WoA.

I remember being confused in a Sapienza run when it launched why I didn’t get SA after wiping the evidence - because there was nothing to indicate zones had been introduced and everything prior in the ICA Facility and Paris conditioned me to believe they were all interconnected (even if it didn’t make logical sense).

Also, there was no way other than the player keeping track themselves to know what areas needed wiping.

That’s what made it so fun though! I was sure I had SA then I saw the cameras caught me at the end and it clicked in my head “this game is more complicated than it’s ever been” and then they took it away and I was sad lol

But the SA logo fixes your issue. Also if it’s in the next game Diana can just explain it in the tutorial level.

I like how this mod approached communicating it in the moment to player - each camera/recordings in a zone has a different coloured light on them.

Simple, but effective.

I really hope they stick to with the style of the hitman trilogy I think it works great I think we just need a continuation to the world of assassination trilogy and just bring in new maps and bonus missions for those maps

Adding more maps and calling it Hitman4-5-6 will be perfect. They just need to keep smoothing WOA, not create a whole new gameplay system
(but this time, 6-7 real maps, not Romania)

Fun fact: The longest gap between Hitman games was the six-and-a-half years between Blood Money and Absolution. Absolution was announced in May 2011, 18 months before its release date.

In 18 months from now, that will be exactly six-and-a-half years since Hitman 3’s release. So we need a game announced this month or we’ll almost certainly have the longest gap between games. But a new game announcement ain’t gonna happen whilst First Light is looming.

So, yeah, I’ll see you in July 2027, fact fans, where I’ll confirm we’re in the longest gap between games! See ya!

I don’t think this counts, since updates to the current game are still going, so the game hasn’t yet stopped being announced and released. The time between Blood Money and Absolution was an empty vacuum. We’d have to wait six and a half years from the date of the last bit of actual new content to WoA for it to count. Let’s say Mills Jovovich is the last new thing added to the game (items and creator contracts not counting for the sake of this example), that would be the “end” of the current game, and then the clock starts counting.

IOI have said that Hitman III is the conclusion of the World of Assassination trilogy. As much as I love the game and it’s one of my favourites of all time, I’m hoping the new Hitman game is a brand new story (which is most likely) and we have a time jump in the story for 47.

I’m thinking we’ll get some idea on what’s happening with the next game once Co-Op finally drops. I know IOI have hinted that’s the plan, but I wish we knew now
