If this year goes on any longer soon we will be out of Batman writers as Alan Grant was found dead at age 73 with no cause of death established. Grant and Breyfogle were responsible for some of the best work on Batman’s Bronze Age works. His run produced such villains as The Ratcatcher, Victor Zsasz, The Ventriloquist and my new avatar Anarky.
Grant was also responsible for Lobo’s transition to anti-hero parody but perhaps most importantly there was his and John Wager’s work for 2000AD with his run on Judge Dredd and Strontium Dog. Grant is responsible for Dredd’s broadly satirical elements that define the comics for some people.
