No clue why 2 of the 3 Pokémon legends Z-a starters are from gen 2 but i like both of them and my favourite fire starter tepig is also there so I’m happy

I didn’t mean they should’ve had all of the gen 2 starters I’m just curious why a game that takes place in a rebuilt version of the gen 6 city doesn’t have a gen 6 starter

The Seasons - Lee Krasner
Images From A Man’s World - Lee Krasner and Her Search for Herself
Lee Krasner was Jackson Pollock’s wife and something close to a manager and agent for the mercurial painter. Lee Krasner is one of the many female abstract expressionists who are getting their due in a more modern and fairer world.
In order to understand this painting I have to do something that I haven’t really done before and that is actually give a run down of the artist’s life. Krasner originally utilised a very representational academic style but had slowly adopted a Hans Hoffman-like Cubist style as she drifted further from an academic body that shunned women learning the arts (at least beyond teaching it to school kids).
In a way you can see this in how the stone fruits in this image find themselves represented over and over from different angles and at cross sections. Eventually her work would see its first major shift when she joined the WPA and met one of the muralists who began supporting her as she worked on her own mural projects, a former custodian turned artist named Jackson Pollock.
Her relationship with Pollock marked a shift in her artistic output not only because she became more and more inspired by the notions of unconscious painting and primitivism but also by the fact that her work dried up for the longest time as she started taking more and more of a managerial role in Pollock’s career which was stable enough when you figure in that Pollock was a womaniser who had a habit of drinking like a whale.
Eventually Pollock and Krasner moved to Springs, New York mostly to try and recapture their artistic spark (and to keep Pollock from drinking) (so much)). Krasner actually resumed painting in the very tiny retrofitted studio space the pair made in their new home. Krasner’s studio was small and cramped especially when you compare it to Pollock’s studio, the estate’s barn which became a work unto itself as Pollock laboured away in there.
Krasner produced her Little Pictures series, 31 small and compact framed paintings, each an abstraction formed from multiple interconnected and overlapping thin lines greatly inspired by the kabbalah and most often seen as an expression of Krasner exploring and engaging with her Jewish heritage.
Then came the collages, isnpired by Matisse Krasner had always made collages but one day in a bout of self-criticism she shredded a full day’s worth of work in her studio before eventually trying to make something out of the best parts of each of them. Eventually she did it enough that she created a whole series, the showing of which moved the notoriously finicky Clement Greenburg to say was one of the most important shows of his time.
Then Pollock died and everything changed. While it was never a stable marriage to a healthy person Pollock’s sudden and tragic death in a drunk driving incident had an impact on Krasner. She adopted the barn and even a lot of his style creating larger pieces that combined her “all-over” style with Pollock’s dynamism while adding a more total monumentality to it.
But that series of works was met with criticism a fair portion of it was rooted in sexism from claims it was derivative of her late husband’s work to declarations that the works were “too decorative” as if there was nothing to her work beyond existing. She then had an aneurysm, after several years rehab she finaly founder herself.
These works, her natureforms, are works like The Season. Using the sort of sensual form, exploration of the biological especially botanical figures and the soft pastel pinks and greens we might associate with both nature and traditional femininity (inspired by Matisse and the Fauves) with the more masculine overtures of her field of abstract expressionism; lyricism of form, expansive totality, a sense of sprawling dynamism and the sense of diving a form from nothing (also something rooted in Judaism, see tohu-wa-bohu).
The biggest burden of the woman artist is the inescapable gravity of the men in their lives and the crushing weight of the shadows they cast over their lives. For years Krasner has been a victim of it, she has been a victim of it since she adopted the name Lee (short of Lenora).
Despite that Krasner was able to manage the career of one of the most tempestuous artists of her time, Krasner has left an extensive body of work in both pure longevity and in the sheer adoption and mastery of styles and, most imprtantly, Krasner was one of the women whose re-discovery inspired generations of women artists since and in time she has become the face of the countless Modern period women whose catalogue raisonne are being brought back into the galleries.

Yeah a return to a bumper art history vomit slightly late for Women’s History Month but slightly early for Women’s Day.
Next is April is Easter month and since the Pope will probably be dead by then and Jesus definately will be I will be adopting one of Sister Corita Kent’s works because even when talking about the most reactionary institution in the world I still am able to find a Modernist artist I can use.
May will be Pollock’s Blue Poles because nothing should mark Worker’s Month more than glazing the Labour Party and talking smack about the Menzies administration, the Nats and the Liberal Party.

Do you know how some pictures you can see 2 images depending on how you look at it? I’m sure there’s a name for that. Ambiguous Image? But it’s due to it appearing small. Sometimes I’d see your avatar and I’d think of a greyhound dog with a white… something wrapped around its neck and going over its ears.
It’s kinda hard to explain. But your new avatar will remedy that.

(DON’T LOOK AT YOUR DATE!) So Thomas Kinkade is going to be this months artist. I know I said I would doing Corita Kent but I also thought the pope was going to die so here we are. (DON’T LOOK AT YOUR DATE) This was originally going to be a whole thing but who fucking cares about the very garish pseudo-luminist dreck this man produced? Only grandmas and your weird conservative relatives you only see at the worst possible family gatherings.
We are talking about an artist in service to God so long as you don’t harbour too high an opinion on the word “artist” and in so much as an alcoholic, lecherous adulterer who once pissed on Disneyland to “assert his dominance over Disney” is as a man of God as you are.
We are talking about an artist who didn’t paint people in his works until 2009 because he most likely had difficulty in painting them, even Hitler occasionally painted a person in his works (He wasn’t good at it either). We are talking about a guy whose studio operates like a cross between Subway and a TV home shopping channel but for crappy art instead of Japanese kitchen knives, convection ovens and smokeless ashtrays.
A lot of people have wasted their precious time in trying to understand this man and his work and why anybody would even like them but nobody will ever know why your 99 year old aunt Ida gets Setndhal Syndrome from seeing these pastel mishmashes of light, sentimentality and pastels.
And yes he trademarked his nickname of “Painter of Light” despite the fact that other American artists had been doing it centuries before he even picked up a brush.
