47 — this is Agency, Diana speaking. Your assignment is to eliminate Vladimir Zhupikov, the fourth general from the arms deal. He has defected to the German Embassy, and will be requesting asylum in Germany.
It is vital for our client that his suitcase is retrieved — it contains a guidance system the general probably will try and peddle to the highest bidder in the West.
There is a party tonight at the Embassy, and loads of glitterati and socialites — a perfect cover for your assignment, so wear a tux.
Unfortunately, we couldn’t provide an invitation. And remember — security is ultra tight, so bringing any sorts of weapon in from the outside is impossible. There’s more. The Russians are furious about the prospect of a former general defecting to a NATO-country.
We have surveillance recordings of a Spetznaz agent receiving an invitation to this party — check this video to identify this agent.
We also recorded the General arriving at the embassy. See to it that you get that briefcase, it’s standard ICA practice, we don’t want problems with competitors, 47.
I repeat, take out the general and get the suitcase. Good luck, 47. -Mission Briefing
An absolute banger and arguably the best Russian mission in the game - heck, probably the series. It’s a well-designed embassy setting with loads to do. There’s poison, a stray sniper (probably my favourite method, after using it in my Sniper Assassin playthrough: https://youtube.com/clip/Ugkxzgp9z5t7ObPbekuwTkFxOtJjjEkH6p3s?si=B7W9hCcw5jGDULxL), and plenty of opportunities to take him out unnoticed.
As for the suitcase, there’s an element of randomisation, but it’s not really all that bad. You can keep an eye on ambassador to know easily where it is, and even the Spetznaz agent isn’t even that much of a problem.
Such a great level, even if it’s a surprisingly easy one as you can get an SA ranking with no effort at all. However, the sheer open-ness of the stage makes up for all that.
A banger, and one that is held in high regard my most fans of the game!
I think I took this one too literally because it seems like I only ever tried to get in via the kitchen with a waiter disguise, and there wasn’t any time I wasn’t being shot at when leaving the level.
Watching videos (long long after I ever played it) I see that’s only at the front gate and not at the front door to the building.
If it actually was just. that. good. I guess I never realized it. Oh well.
Aw hell yeah this is one of the greats. It’s really the full Hitman experience. I always loved the whole thing with the Spetsnaz agent and the tension. It’s just so good so much cinematic potential. The poison, the ambassador, the whole ordeal sneaking into the basement, and then the atmosphere of the piano music and the party. It feels like a James Bond scene.
This one was when I really started to try to increase the quality of my cinematic playthroughs. This one is my favorite that I’ve made, especially the beginning syncing it with the music and showing how 47 figures out how he should infiltrate by observing the waiter. I also like to kill the agent with the knife we pick up from the general in the previous mission.
Here is the best way I think to get the most out of this mission. silent assassin all zeroes, making use of all the equipment from the pickup, and retrieving the hidden sniper rifle, while also most importantly showing everything the mission has to offer, all the little unique interactions, situations, details, etc. in an organic and cohesive way, taking the most canonical path and showing the most definitive form of the narrative of this mission, maximizing all the cinematic potential and everything that makes it such a classic.
This is also a very tight and dangerous mission as there is a lot of people constantly around you, and the guards can get pretty messy if you get too close…
