I just played through the old Hitman 2 christmas game (Which, yes, is apparently a thing that exists). I had wild time shooting elves, but then I completed the game and noticed some cool options, like a link to Hitman2.com which apparently still works. But I also noticed the “Send a Hitman to a friend!” option, which redirecteded to the standard Eidos page. I’m really interested in what this could be; Is it a cool piece of lost media? Did Eidos actually put out a real assassination business to promote funny Bald man game? If anyone tried this back in the day, please tell us what it was. I’m so curious as to what this could be.

This was pretty controversial at the time if I remember correctly. You sent an e-card to a friend that basically said they had been targeted by agent 47 for assassination. You could fill out the “reasons” for them being targeted and stuff like that. The e-card linked to the hitman2 site… I think. Basically an early viral marketing thing.

IO didn’t learn. Ten years later, when Absolution released, there was a Facebook app which encouraged you to pretend to kill your friends. It was removed soon after!
