Some questions for PS5 users

I play Hitman on PS4, but I’m planning to get a PS5 for the holidays. I wonder if you could help me with some questions I have:

  1. The most important one: Will I be able to play the game or do I have to buy it again for PS5? I own the game digitally. Don’t know if this matters but I pre-ordered it back on 2021.

  2. Will I be able to transfer my progress from PS4 to PS5 even though I already did the progress carryover from H2 to H3?

  3. Will the DLCs I own carryover to PS5? This includes the trinity pack that was given to me as pre-order bonus.

  4. I have some secondary accounts that I use to replay ETs. I’m wondering if I can do the same thing you can do on PS4 where, if I set one account to be the main one on the console, the other accounts on the console get access to everything the primary one owns, including DLCs.

  5. Any extra info you may have regarding switching to PS5 will be greatly appreciated.

  6. This one isn’t hitman related, but I’ll take this opportunity to ask if my physical PS4 games will work on PS5.

  1. No, you won’t have to buy the game again. The PS4 version comes with a free PS5 upgrade.
  2. Your progression is tied to your PSN account, so your progress will be exactly the same whether you’re playing the PS4 or PS5 version of the game, as long as you are playing with the same account. No carryover required.
  3. Yes. As above, whatever you have access to on PS4, you will have access to on PS5.
  4. I didn’t use secondary accounts on PS4, but I’ve had no problem accessing extra DLC content with the ones I’ve created on PS5.
  5. Switching from PS4 to PS5 is pretty seamless, especially with Hitman. All you’ll need to do is download the PS5 version of the game and your progress/unlocks/whatever should be there as soon as you start it up. Enjoy the improved framerate and shorter loading times.
  6. The vast majority of PS4 games–digital or physical–work really well on PS5. (There are, last I checked, about 10 mostly obscure PS4 games that don’t work on PS5. The only one I’ve heard of is, unfortunately, Hitman GO.) I should mention, though, that if you have the physical edition of a PS4 game that comes with a free PS5 upgrade (and a lot of them do), you’ll still need to have the PS4 disc inserted when playing the PS5 version of the game.

I hope that helps. Enjoy the holidays and the new console.

Most answers are as ZeroGravitas stated.
I’ll add a note regarding point 4, “About PS sub-accounts.”
On PS5, just like PS4, DLC can be used on sub-accounts.
DLC purchased with the main PS account becomes available for use on sub-accounts without requiring a separate purchase.
The same applies to guest logins.
If one account has purchased ownership, all users utilizing that console can play it.
If you’ve already purchased it on PS4, you won’t need to buy any of it again on PS5.
