Making, based in, and doing research in the best video-ludic brutalist buildings with touches of analogue/traditional furnitures and wood panels.
Only did the opening of it, already chapter 12 Webb headquarter gives me âcut-Ether night level from Hitman 2â vibes.
(for some reason doing the pacifist challenges in my first run really slows me down, really satisfying though)
Here is a fun fact: by his patch Bond was part of the 824 Naval Air Squadron of the Royal Navy.
The moto on the patch is not the actual moto of the real life squadron.
Here itâs an original UBIS SOLIS CADIT
Translated: Where the sun falls.
Was there ever any âHitmanâs gone wokeâ nonsense? Like, on a public scale? Would make sense: 47âs against the wealthy elite, against child labor, and his response to being asked if he can out-shoot a girl was that it depends on the girl. Youâd think theyâd make the dude-bros of the manosphere have strokes.
Iâve played to the airfield mission. Iâm loving the game but I find myself defaulting to fist fights instead of bluffing and super stealth, as the combat is so satisfying. Iâd like to rely less on hand to hand combat.
The saving icon in the lower right goes off like every five seconds, including multiple times during cutscenes. Itâs very distracting. Anyone else notice this?
Itâs very linear but the story is excellent in my opinion. The main characters are all well written and performed. Itâs a straight up Bond movie and IOI nailed the tone.
Yeah I did that for a bit too in the first couple missions, but load times are kinda long and checkpoints are not very generous, so now Iâm embracing the chaos and improvisation. I just gotta use bluff more.
Solid opening, enjoyed the Golden Eye key reference. Sold on Patrick Gibsons Bond stating âIâm not MI6â before blowing up the Site. Only issue I have is I really think IO should keep the Opening Credits under wraps for the sequel since Bond Intros are spectacle and what makes them so good is experiencing them as intended not as a YouTube video weeks before release.
Basic Training:
Thought it was gonna be a slog, but I appreciate the variety of cuts making the training more cinematic and engaging.
Q-Lab:
it was fun seeing all the gadgets and messing around with the desk lamp and oil slick.
so far enjoying myself. Eager to play more and listen to everything going on and get all the collectibles.
Does anyone have a tip for catching the plane? I get in the white truck and take the shortcut to the left and it just gets away every time.
Edit: I found the solution. If youâre playing on pc and canât catch the plane, turn off your resolution scaler (dlss or fsr). With it turned on the plane goes too fast for some reason.
I completed Slovakia last night and it was very interersting seeing how expansive it actually was compared to the initial trailer we saw. Now that it is the weekend and I donât have to work I should be able to put some more hours into it later tonight.
Finished this yesterday. I thought it was quite good, though I doubt I will replay it a lot. You can do some stuff differently, but itâs small detours rather than the entirely different experiences of the Hitman -games, and that doesnât really tend to pull me back into a game.
Booted up the market place part for instance, and got the money different ways. Didnât really tickle me. Youâre just funneled back to the same spot directly afterwards anyways.
Loved the way the tutorial was made into a training montage. Loved the acting (Patrick Gibson is a great Bond). Loved the music.
It does have just that kind of level of gameplay complexity where it sometimes frustrates me because the different stuff doesnât come up often enough for me to truly learn.
I was quite happy to see that this didnât go the AI is evil and controlling everything route. What we got instead felt decently topical and interesting by comparison.
Maybe Iâll do some TacSim eventually, but it doesnât really pull me in. Just looks like Escalations, which were rarely all that fun and just felt like a grind.
For a game released by the makers of Hitman, it seems quite laughable that the disguise system in First Light involves simply putting on a hat or putting a yoga mat on your back and youâre âdisguisedâ.
