If the Drops are for WoA, then its psuedo-confirmed that there is a patch coming this week for the game. afaik, there aren’t any inactive Drop items already sitting in the game.

My fingers are crossed that there will actually be something bigger to celebrate the 25th anniversary besides just a single challenge+unlock!
A thought for a Celebrity ET: It would be really cool if they did one with David Bateson’s likeness, as a thank you for being with Hitman for 25 years! At the very least he wouldn’t be a controversial figure! Plus there’s the comedy gold of himself as the villainous target talking to himself as 47!

The way it’s written makes me think it’s probably not in-game drops but more like stuff for twitch / tiktok themselves like emotes?
No one else thinking the “collaborations around the Hitman franchise” is significant? That wording. Not WOA. The Hitman franchise. In a post centered around the anniversary of the game.

Wouldn’t some sort of Bond related crossover in WOA be an obvious scenario for IO to take? It’s already established that MI6 exists in the hitman universe.
To me, the trend of licensing game classics from the 00s to other companies for remastering comes to mind. Developers are making a lot of money that way.

I’m thinking we are going to get an announcement for new updates for the Summer roadmap and a lot of emphasis being around the 25th anniversary of the franchise this Autumn/Fall.

Well, I’m just saying. They’re not gonna have a showcase on Summer Game Fest and waste the world’s attention from the 007 reveal on a Twitch drop and a few unlocks in Hitman. I get that people are cautious and want to avoid disappointment but come on.

I wonder if the summer roadmap will have some sort of Bond Collaboration, maybe the next celeb will be 007 related?
Its probably the last one, rather than just being the next one. Since 007 is releasing next year, I can’t imagine they’re going to be supporting WoA for much longer.

IO should end with an ET that is some 007 game character who dies off-screen there so there is a vague chance of 47’s involvement in the new game and a promotional event for the new game in Hitman.

I’m not so sure about this. From a broader perspective, I just heard Todd Howard talking about how “legacy” titles are becoming a bigger and bigger part of the industry. Basically, games don’t just sell in a short window when they’re released. They can sell for decades. Look at how GTA V and Skyrim have been going for years and years, and those are just the most popular examples. But you need to keep the titles relevant with new content.
I imagine that IO will lean into this as well, also seeing as WOA has been outperforming their own sales expectations in recent years (again, taken from their financial report), I think they might have initially planned on winding down gradually after Freelancer etc., but seeing as WOA is still selling, there could easily be more things in the pipeline. Even after 007.
