The Dishonored series

Recently, I completed Dishonored 2, after finished Dishonored 1 last year. Loved both the games, and occasionally the gameplay was giving a very depressing and creepy feeling.

But one thing I noticed that it is the only game, which in certain aspects, has some similarities to Hitman. As we know Hitman is the only proper social stealth game, with unlimited options to take out targets. Dishonored provides multiple ways to take out your targets as well.

And even in Dishonored, there is a rating system similar to Hitman. You get rated on how many people you killed, and how many times you got detected. It is possible to complete all missions with zero casualties, and entirely without being detected…

Any Hitman fan here who enjoyed Dishonored as well?

I have fond memories of both games (or of all three, if you count Death of the Outsider). Completed them several times each and enjoyed both open combat and stealth. Like Hitman, the games have great level/mission design.

I love the style. Also, teleporting feels so overpowered but awesome!

What I always dislike, to an extend because it’s only a half-valid critique, is the great fighting- and gore system. Why? Because the game pretty much tells you that non-lethal is the “correct” way to play and while you can play like a mass murderer and enjoy the darkness, the game is made harder and shows you that you are doing it “wrong”.

If you play Hitman guns blazing, you get less stars, but finish the mission once SASO and you got all the challenges, now let’s go! In Dishonored however, your play style changes the overall game and you cannot just play around without changing the bigger outcome and also the smaller details in levels.
I just don’t like that you have to chose how you want to play and stick to that decision if you want to avoid negative consequences.

But again, this is optional, and I really love that game!
