4747?

Any replies stating possible numbers for solving combinations, codes, etc. derived from clues must explain how they arrived at said numbers. If there is not an explanation in the reply then it will be ignored.

3 consecutive replies from any ā€œplayerā€ with guesses regarding possible combination numbers without an explanation as to how it was figured will be muted. Essentially 3 strikes and you’re out. Don’t waste your time with frivolous fake/useless ā€œguessesā€ and my time having to read them.

Man, chill. It’s not like we’re new users spamming or anything. This is everyone’s first time.

Seeing the number of teeth remaining on the comb between the broken spaces is 9, 1, 3 and 8 I would like to try the combination 9138 on the fridge lock.

Thank You!

That opened the small fridge.

  • Inside is a green mug (the same mug in the photo of the old man).
  • It has a frozen liquid inside.

For being a good sport, you’re welcome to another turn should you choose to take it. No need to wait till tomorrow! :slightly_smiling_face:

Well, I assume most of us aren’t idiots. So what am I supposed to think when no effort is put into the solving the clues or not choosing another action that hasn’t been taken yet (i.e. progressing)? The only other option is people acting with wrong/bad intentions, and makes me think they have zero interest in actually playing the game.

There’s nothing wrong with establishing some rules and expectations. Sorry if you felt singled out since I quoted your post, but it did work as a good example of what not to do. Once is not a big deal, but up to 3 times is just… Yeah. There’s no need for that.

Thank you.

I would like to look at the calendar, what can I see?

Question: can I move the calendar? Would that need another turn?

Happy 80th Birthday, Grandpa!

Deer hunting with Gramps!
on the last day of that month.

No need to. :+1:

Edit: You’re free to post what you think this clue is pointing to. You might come up with the right/single answer, or multiple possible answers. That way others can work with those results to see what it might work on… whatever that is.

Edit2: Or let someone else work it out themselves.

Would have been funnier if that second stupid was spelled ā€œstoopid.ā€

Recap/Update. Here are the items remaining or found in the room so far.

:door:
This is the door to open to escape. Yes. It is locked. No, you can’t kick it down.

A bed is in the corner of the room, it has a wooden safety railing on the side

  • A toolbox with a padlock (requiring a :key:) was found by looking under the bed.

An electrical outlet, a small fridge is plugged into it. :eyes:

A calendar is hanging on the wall

A small statue/bust on a shelf that is too high to reach.

A coffee maker but the glass caraffe/pitcher is missing. If you’re paying attention it’s not plugged in.

:framed_picture:

There’s a picture on the wall of an old man dressed in camo and orange hunting cap, he appears to be in a forest, holding a rifle in one hand and a green mug in the other, while crouched down next to a bluetick coonhound.

The picture is not of any significance other than to give a reference to a few things in the room. It ultimately will not help in solving the room or affecting anything.

Free turns today (Sunday). I hope it’s not getting confusing yet.

I’ll be putting a :white_check_mark: by items that have served their purpose. That way players will/should know they won’t have to do anything else with/to them.

FWIW: I believe there are about 8 or more actions remaining.

I’d like to plug it in.

The coffee maker is plugged in… (and maybe as you expected) Nothing happens… (yet)

I’d like to put the green mug in the coffee maker.

The frozen liquid melted… Whether that was due to heat from the coffee maker (that was the next intended action but, fuck it) or just sitting there for over 8 hours (after the RM woke up from his slumber), it revealed a key with a tag attached to it. No need to pour it out, I’ll get that.

:key: :label:

The tag has the letters ā€œTBā€ on it.

The old man must’ve dropped it in the mug by accident before placing it in the fridge so he could have it later, it was towards the back and froze. Oopsie.

I know this goes against the spirit of the game, but… We still need a puzzle solved (the pin for the safe)

Then about 6 more actions. At this rate, termites will eat the door away before it gets solved. :joy:

Probably black mold has installed in the room, after all it has been another 8 hours.

That’s used on the bed to remove the safety railing… and gives us a :ladder:

Using the makeshift :ladder: we climb up to the shelf to get the :moai: bust

Bring it back down, smash it with a hammer to find the final key that opens the door.

So… with things being unlocked I guess that means a mod can ā€œlockā€ this topic.

Thanks to @Lindolfo and @thefixer47 for playing. Floople too for asking about the comb’ination lock. If they wanted to throw something the hammer could’ve done what the purse didn’t.

So, is this it?
Years of hard work ended in less then a week?
The Forum’s laziness to play surprises me.

Well, it was more like… maybe 30 minutes working everything out. But there were other things I thought of later. Like the photo of the old man or ā€œGrandpa,ā€ or making sure that the fridge was plugged into the outlet (the liquid in the mug needed a reason to be frozen). I probably would’ve put a table of some sort in the room, but I felt it would’ve detracted from the other clues.

I was in a bad mood when I made the rule about leaving explanations for combinations.

ā€œWhat if someone gives a correct combination without an explanation?ā€

I think I’d accept it. It was mainly a way of having (whoever) explain how they arrived at a possible code or combination, even if it were wrong. Instead of 0001, since such a number couldn’t be derived from any of the clues.

Unless anyone choosing 0001 is like when you watch those fake mobile game ads, where whoever is playing is doing such a terrible job, that the person watching the ad thinks ā€œI can do better than that dumb-dumb!ā€ Then they’re downloading the mobile game… Or making an effort to solve a clue in an escape room forum game.

Maybe they’re not so much lazy as the concept was boring or uninteresting. Whichever it was - it’s unfortunate it turned out to be a flop… and most of the people who gave it a  didn’t even bother to play. As if to say, ā€œCool idea, bro!ā€ And that’s okay. Nobody should feel obligated to ā€œplayā€.

Would I do this again? Nah. I’m thoroughly discouraged from attempting anything of the sort in the future. It does take a lot of planning and working out how one thing works with another or other objects. Some people might get confused or things switched around. So I don’t recommend it unless you do a lot of planning, then sit on it for a good while in case you think of something else to add, or if anything would need to be changed around.
