The General Awards Ceremony Thread

Was secretly hoping Sonic Frontiers won the Player’s Choice Award, even if it didn’t really deserve it. It was nice to see the Sonic fanbase positively motivated about something, even if it did lead sadly to some toxicity towards the Genshin Impact fanbase. But y’know, whatever. Kindof deflates the whole thing when the award is just done quickly with a bunch of others, not even sure why they even bother going to the effort of having it if they’re just going to run through it like that.

Not sure there was any announcement that really blew me away. I just bought Death Stranding last week so I guess with the sequel on the horizon I should get to playing it soon. Do they plan on showing any actual gameplay for Final Fantasy XVI? I know fighting as a big monster against other monsters is part of it but what else do you do in the game? Is it real time or turn based combat, do you have party members etc? I think I’ve seen 3 or 4 trailers for the game and genuinely have no idea what type of game it actually is.

That is least surprising outcome I have expected

As predicted on March, I knew Elden Ring will get this one, hope From Soft make new games. Crazy 10/10 from all critics.

Horizon Forbidden West and God of War Ragnarök deserved it as well, but it was clear that Elden Ring would beat them.

HFW and GODR are awesome games as well, but that’s ok for Kratos and team, they got the award on their first installment. Guerilla Games and Santa Monica Studios have talented devs.

What, he barely spoke in ragnarok. Though expected that gowr would get this many awards despite it only being out for 2 weeks.

Also very innovative of josef fares to make a time traveling kid version of himself to disturb the game awards once again by saying something fucky about bill clinton

Bit shit that stray won best debut indie and bayonetta 3 best action game but what can you do. I’m atleast glad sonic didn’t get the players choice award and horizon forbidden west didn’t get any awards.

And of course I’m happy that Elden Ring deservedly won goty

God these game awards were great, i hope for more cringe, sony shilling and disturbances at next years event

This kid probably played too much of Hitman maybe - mostly sneaking up unnoticed LOL
Should have walked away with Mr Miyazaki’s team.

It was a security lapse from game award side, next time they must maintain a list on who will go to the stage unless called upon. Of course that kid does not look like asian, they must have use some of their intelligent skill, maybe they thought a voice artist or something (like Arteus from GOW).

No new news on The Wolf Among Us 2. Back to smoking and joking.

They’ve shown some snippets of combat and it’s very much the real-time action style they’ve used in XV, Remake and Stranger in Paradise.

Unfortunately, the series is never going back to turn-based. (Which is all the more reason I wish they’d release the Pixel Remasters on consoles for us old fogies.)

Also, I only found out today that Valiant Hearts is getting a sequel!!! Which will be a mobile exclusive… for Netflix subscribers…

Why do you want me to hate you even more, Ubisoft? :face_with_raised_eyebrow:

Why does being on mobile automatically mean it is bad? Valiant Hearts isn’t the most intensive or complex game, I am pretty sure the first game also has a mobile version. There is such a malus on mobile games.

Of course to answer your question it is because Ubisoft have no faith in it because the sad truth is that the unique, heartfelt and stylistically unique WWI game didn’t sell well with Gamers.

Uhh, dude, what do you want me to say to that? I don’t play games on mobile. At all. I’m a PC player, so I obviously want the games I’d like to play to be released on PC. Simple as that. Didn’t say anything about the general quality of mobile games (which I know nothing about, cause I don’t play them).

Indeed.

Oh my apologise then, usually when people say that it comes from people who see mobile games as inferior to console/PC games. I wasn’t aware you were talking about a preference.

See? This is what I am talking about.

I don’t see mobile games as an inferior product, but I do see the mobile platform as an inferior platform, especially for games that aren’t a fit for a pickup-and-play mindset.

I appreciate Netflix getting some larger games added to their platform to the casual gaming market, but I don’t think it’s the ideal way to play or distribute those games.

  • Things like Oxenfree are good, but probably are lessened by playing on a small phone. At least consoles and PC are an option.
  • They also once had an old-school-style RPG Beat’em up for Stranger Things 3, available on all consoles and PC… until they removed it from sale and made it exclusive to their phone app. I kinda hate them for that, I just can’t get into it on a phone.

I can’t believe it! Netflix making poor business decisions that make no sense? They have never done that before. The CEO of Netflix even says he models his business after very successful “human” sphincter Elon Musk.
