The March 27th 2025 Patch Discussion - PSVR2, New Roadmap + More!

Apparently this also softlocks Freelancer. You can’t continue the campaign/start a new one until you pick up the item in the crate, which you can’t do for these two items. :grimacing:

Wonder if IO will hotfix it or leave Freelancer completely broken for two/three months until the next patch.

Basing this off of this reddit post/video.

This is unacceptable. @Combatglue, run it up to whoever is managing the Hitman unit: drop all work being done on the game that is not related to fixing things like this until it is fixed. This is beyond ridiculous at this point. They need to stop messing around with things we don’t care about and attend to the actual problems with the game.

If the issue is reported a lot maybe, but I can see them perfectly leaving it as it is until next patch if there isn’t much noise about it.

I can certainly say that this will happen to me eventually since I still don’t have the splitter smg on the wall, so I’m going to leave freelancer alone for a while.

Since they fixed The Splitter auto die glitch quite quicky, I still have hope that this is going to be addressed soon.

Edit: I also remembered that they left the broken Paris cutscenes in the game for several months, so my hope has kinda diminished.

A review of how QA operates is probably a good idea too. Way too much stuff slips through - and they either don’t know about it or they do but don’t care.

Either one is not a good look.

It would be very appreciated by me and many others if IO invested a lot more into QA and bugfixing/quality of life improvements for the game. I know that the game’s in its sunset years, but we are now reaching a point where the patches seem to be adding more bugs than they fix (especially on PS5 with the latest patch). This is greatly concerning given that eventually this game will have its support end, whether sooner or later. And if the patches continue on this trajectory, it could be that more larger game breaking bugs are introduced down the line.

I am disappointed that a studio of IO’s size only did 8 minor bug fixes in three months. The issue seems to be that there isn’t enough being invested into QA so they don’t have enough time or resources to be able to fix things. The Splitter launched with a bug that caused people to unfairly die. The last patch broke the flamingo outfits, and this patch broke two separate weapons in and out of Freelancer. It really seems that these relatively major bugs slip through the cracks due to a lack of systemic testing.

My suggestion to @Combatglue would be for IO to work with modders (such as the talented folks who work on the Unofficial Community Patch) to help them implement official fixes for many of the more minor issues in the game and also help IO to detect the more major ones. I’d wager they’d even be happy to do it for free since they already are doing it for free!

Other suggestions would be to properly update the Known Issues page which has been dormant for years (I seem to recall someone saying they’d look into it). At least then people would know if IO are aware of certain glitches and working on them, and it would help prevent IO receiving duplicate messages from people reporting the same glitch, saving everyone’s time. Also, patches should be much more frequent so that people don’t need to wait many months for certain bugs to (maybe) get fixed. If they want to only have one patch every season that adds the new content for a roadmap that’s fine, but doing additional smaller patches for fixing issues and QoL improvements on something like a monthly basis would really help improve the experience.

And I just want to close by saying this isn’t coming out of a place of malice or anger toward IO. Hitman WoA is one of my absolute favorite games, as my over 1600 hours spent with it show. I consider it a 10/10 near-perfect video game and love it dearly. However, there are many imperfections in the game in the form of bugs, and I just would like to see them get properly fixed so that every part of the game is top notch and it becomes the best it can possibly be.

Let’s not forget that patches that are released are going for fixes to inconsequential things that some of us weren’t even aware were happening because they are so minor, while actual bugs and glitches that have been reported and discussed for years that break immersion at best and gameplay at worst, are still there and untouched. So more problems arise with each patch, and those patches aren’t even going to fixing things that are so glaring that they should be the priority.

Meanwhile, things that we do ask to be added to the game are ignored in favor of a shoe, which is just a new version of the VHS tape, which is just a new version of the vinyl record, which is just a new version of the wine bottle, and so on and so forth. Not to mention purple versions of what I can only assume will be every goddamned thing in the game.

I’m surprised IO aren’t focusing on putting themselves in a great position now - well ahead of when Project 007 finally sees the light of day.

When people look at WoA to see what attitudes/opinions are towards IO to decide if they want to buy into P007, at the moment they’re going to find this ongoing mess and its going to work against them. Especially when P007 is likely going to be a trilogy and WoA will be looked at as a rough blueprint of IO’s plans for it.

Do they want to be seen as a company that doesn’t listen to their community, is constantly peddling mediocre DLCs to make money and doesn’t fix their game? Or do they want to be seen as a gold standard in the industry and make people want to buy into their new game/trilogy?

They can’t rely on the IP alone to make the game a success. They really need to course correct now before its too late.

Especially since the situation with the 007 property is… shall we say, in flux right now. Considering what we’ve seen of the whole gaming industry of late, and considering it’s now been over 4 years since it was announced with no updates, I would not be surprised if the whole Project 007 thing falls through. That would lead to IOI needing to rely on Hitman as their sole working crutch, yet again.

Looks like all the complaints over the weekend are just going to be ignored. Not even a “I’ll look into this” to be seen… :frowning:

Yeah it does, it’s really frustrating. I’ve just completed a campaign and once you exit Freelancer and return, 47 is still stood waiting at the weapon crate awaiting to collect the missing items. It only resets itself once you commence a new campaign and then the process will repeat itself once complete the full campaign. When you start a new campaign and finish each stage of it, there will only be coins in there until the conclusion of the campaign where the bug will start again.

@Combatglue hopefully we can get a hot fix for this prior to the next big update :slightly_smiling_face:

Don’t know if there is any other way to raise it without reporting it as a ticket, which I’m sure has already been done?

IOI fundamentally breaking their rogue-lite mode to where you can’t play it and then us having no sign of an update until may really isn’t a good look.

This is the that’s your hard luck season after all :innocent:

I’m hoping there’s a hot fix for it before then? :face_with_diagonal_mouth:

I’ve run into another bug on PS5 since the patch.

I was playing the new featured contracts tonight and while playing Blossom Breeze in Hokkaido I placed a coin under this chandelier (the stairs directly in front of Yuki’s room) …

…and it crashes every single time I place the coin.

I’ve also encountered a few times, when I switch between my weapons quickly, Agent 47 won’t raise his gun when aiming so I can’t shoot. At times also if he does aim the gun it won’t let me reload it.

Here’s an idea: Give us, in broad strokes, how much more we can expect from this game. For example, something like, “There will be one new level, one more celebrity ET, some new weapons (not reskins), and one new mode by the time time World of Assassination is complete.”

That way, nobody’s receiving these little crumbs with higher hopes of bigger things that aren’t coming. You can avoid specifics and details while simultaneously preventing people from wasting their time. Call it a courtesy.

If I know, for example, that the only “major” thing coming down the pike is the final update that will fix all the bugs and etc., I can stop bothering to check in on these roadmaps and just wait for the last one. By that same token, if I know that there will at some point be a new level or a new mode, I’ll keep checking back.

If these meager pieces of “content” are all that’s in store until the finish line, the last one will be a slap in the face to people who were waiting for more.

I mean, I don’t use it all that often since its a bit of a hassle to set up, but I guess we should start flooding their bug support requests with this specific Freelancer bug.

At the very least it should be noted that it’s such a prevalent issue, it needs to get fixed by the next patch, preferably earlier.

Yeah that would come up if it was something that could be unlocked and you didn’t have the corresponding key (either because a key doesn’t exist or hasn’t been picked up). Otherwise the game gave no option and would just use the key in most cases. There were some outliers scenarios.

So in the past, the loadout categories have so many weapons that if one is near the end of the listing I’ve always just jumped to the next category to the right and hit left to get to the end of the previous list. I often do this to get to the Sieker quickly.

I guess in this latest update, at least for PS5, it now always takes you to the first item in each category…

I’ve always wanted a “Favorites” category with things I can set myself, and this feeling is stronger than ever now.
