I never even understood why they made it a running gag in the first place.

Like, it was a minor joke, if it can even be called that, in C47, only appeared in Blood Money art and a single cutscene, then somehow became this “mega funny xd lol” thing plastered everywhere and anywhere in WOA.

I’m not here to gatekeep humor or whatever, but it’s such an unfunny and forced gimmick they keep shoving down our throats

Is this really true? Explosive ducks don’t feature in the WOA story. They’re just items you can unlock. Items you can decide not to use if you prefer. Much like the gimmicky suit unlocks (clown, Santa etc.).

I’ve also never got the impression the ducks are supposed to be “mega funny xd lol”. They have always struck me as slightly off-beat items which serve to underscore the dark comedy Hitman style.

It’s fine if you find the ducks unfunny. As I said, I’ve never considered them to be laugh-out-loud hilarious myself. But neither have I assumed that was the intention. And I don’t feel like I’m being force-fed.

There is actually one in Silent assassin jacuzzi job

Seeing this concept art definitely makes it clear that the protest in Marrakesh was wasted and that it originally was meant to be a lot bigger, more violent, and more involved in the opportunities of the level.

Instead we just got a bunch of crowd NPC’s that just stand around doing nothing the whole time, and that the coup storyline is just a backdrop to the level that never happens.

Also, the ducky joke has had references and callbacks in most of the series in most entries. In codename 47 it was an interesting explosive weaved into the final location. In Silent Assassin that same ducky makes an appearance in the intro cutscene with Zavorotko and Mr. X (the mystery man) and also in that Jacuzzi Job piece of art. I don’t remember seeing any appearance in Contracts, but in Blood Money it also has a reference in the before mission cutscene of Amendment XXV, where a young boy sitting next to 47 on the plane squeaks it in his face.

It’s not just a one time joke that suddenly got exaggerated in WOA, but a series wide reference/callback

Yeah there should’ve so if Strandberg was lured into the crowd, they would’ve strung him up.

This may have already been tested but it’s something new to me so I’ll post it.
So I did some testing by placing the The Roar Flash Grenade and Lil Flashy in the same area and detonating it.
The Roar Flash Grenade seems to have a bigger range than the robot by a lot, if it wasn’t a proximity, I’d probably use it a lot more.
I tried comparing it with the pouch but since it’s illegal to throw and doesn’t work 50% of the time as sometimes NPC’s will panic over the explosion instead of being blinded, I couldn’t properly compare them lol.

The Roar Flash Grenade (All six NPC’s blinded)

Lil Flashy (3/6 NPC’s blinded)

If you open the locked cabinet in the Hokkaido security room and retrieve the Disposable Scrambler, you can take this back to the Safehouse in addition to the one you already have in your Freelancer Tools.

Tried to find the nearest exit in Bangkok on freelancer. And there is was: An exit I’ve never seen before!

Really wish they would bring this exit to the regular map! Another interesting thing on this playthrough: On the top floor (suite for Ken Morgan, where the stalker is) there was a Jordan Cross Bodyguard. It was really simple to get his disguise - but it’s illegal on this floor. Made it interesting to exit the floor with all the cleaning staff.

…No? Concept art is exactly that; Concept art. I think you’re reading into things and letting your mind go wild with possibilities of a some hitertounknown “better” level.

IOI, and really, devs in general, always experiment and look at ideas, and sometimes even implement parts of it (such as the costumes, which are clearly designed after the art). But that’s as far as it goes.

Detonating a fire extinguisher in Freelancer counts as disabling guards or targets with a concussive explosion. Be mindful: if the objective specifies a concussive grenade or something similar, it won’t count, but if it simply says concussive explosion, you can use the map’s fire extinguishers instead of taking up space bringing your own.

Why did I never think of that, this is what I get for thinking H2 made extinguishers useless  I play a lot of Psy Ops and usually thought of this objective as a wasted opportunity and never did it (since you basically had to bring multiple explosives to reach the 3 guards count), suddenly it looks a lot more balanced to me. Thanks a lot.

I never bother with three actions, I just find a group of three and KO them with the same explosion.

The FE is also good for blowing open safes.

Yeah but finding a group of three guards that are close enough to be taken out with a single explosive is extremely rare :x

Not extremely rare but finding a pair instead of three individuals is helping too.

Its a good point I’ve noticed too, though sometimes I don’t bother going out of the way to find fire extinguishers if the map doesn’t have many (i.e. Dartmoor).
If I’m lucky while looking for Loot, I might find one in a crate or a shaman powder, but it’s up to chance.
