This can’t possibly go well.
It’s been a week or two now since Andor finished. I’m missing it. I saw Disney submitted it for a bunch or Emmy categories. I hope it does well.
It’s either gonna get awards or it’s gonna be a Season 6 better Call Saul situation where it got nothing.
Quite frankly, if the greatest prequel - of anything - ever made doesn’t get a nomination, then nothing that has ever been put out in the history of the Star Wars franchise deserves to get it.
You don’t need to be so specific by saying “Season 6”. Better Call Saul was nominated 53 times in its whole run but didn’t win once. They even split up Season 6 so it was eligible for two years of Emmys and they did it for nothing.
I don’t know, Season 6 specifically had career best acting from a lot of the main cast, on top of it being some of the best television I’ve watched down to getting genuine shock out of me from the mid season finale when it premiered.
I prefer Better Call Saul over BB, I think it’s the better show out of the two, but I think rightfully BCS deserved the awards and was wrongfully robbed of them.
Awards season is a joke either way.
Sold.
From my understanding, these serial killers are just guest slots and they will be two episodes max out of the ten episode season run with some only getting one episode.
The trailer is just sort of a sizzle reel showcasing the stars, and characters from previous shows. It’s all sizzle with no steak.
Also, I’m pretty sure it’s just the plot device that gives Dexter a reason to keep killing other killers. Unlike Miami, where he worked for the police and so had a means of finding other killers, and unlike Iron Lake, where there just happened to be one other serial killer living in the town who Dexter exposes by his own mistake because he snapped and killed the other killer’s asshole son, Dexter would have no means of tracking down other killers in New York without just happening to bump into them by chance. So this whole plot of a group of killers being assembled by a collector or whatever Dinklage is, is just a way of showing us, hey, expect Dexter to be killing these people throughout this season, because there’s no reasonable means for him to have multiple victims so readily at hand otherwise, unless he were stalking members of the New York mafia or the street gangs.
I’d say the only thing to worry about is the stuff to do with Harrison. If Original Sin has anything to go by, it’s gonna be a return to form since they clearly have more to tell with this character that won’t become a parody of itself. The issue is did they course correct with Harrison cause he was arguably one of the worse parts of New Blood.
I’m using my fiancés Disney + account to watch Gargoyles. I loved that show as a kid and I’m glad to see that it holds up just as fine as Batman: The animated series.
Last week I finally watched all of Star Wars Rebels. Previously I had just seen the important episodes. Anyway I really enjoyed it and now a lot of Ahsoka makes more sense. Today I turned on Clone Wars which I had not really seen any of. I can tell I’m a Rebels person as opposed to a Clone Wars person, but Clone Wars is entertaining enough.
Well I just saw this wonderfully researched video essay on the mischaracterization of Female Characters in The Last of Us HBO.
(And yes it’s validating my apathy on S2 and confirming my suspicions that Craig Mazin’s actively, unknowingly or not, coloring the original game with his own misogynistic biases which is why there’s so many differences.)
(Also Neil Druckmann has his own clear biases towards women that are still problematic. (I still think he was too distanced from S2 production while at Naughty Dog to give much input on it.))
I’m still blowing through Clone Wars. I just got done with S5 E 18. It’s the one where Ahsoka breaks out of prison and then there is this great sequence where she’s in the giant sewer pipes with Ani chasing her. She gets to an opening only it’s a super long jump to the bottom. 100% a rip off of that incredible scene in the Fugitive where Harrison Ford tells Tommy Lee Jones “I didn’t kill my wife,” and Jones fired back with “I don’t care.” Both scenes end with the their respective fugitives taking the jump rather than being captured.
Edit: and now 5 hours later I’m watching the episodes that are clearly a Temple of Doom ripoff and they are terrible
Andor is the best Star Wars thing ever made. I loved it. I recommend to anyone who is sane, and to the insane too. I finished it a couple weeks ago, and I rewatched Rogue One 2 minutes ago. It is the second best Star Wars thing ever made.
I started watching Your Friendly Neighbourhood Spiderman, and it’s been way more enjoyable than I expected!
The animation is very expressive and action scenes are fluid, the art style is KILLER!, the show has tons of heart and it’s wonderful to finally see a young Spidey focused on helping out his local community. Also it touches on lots of modern social topics with it’s side characters which I found unexpected and sweet! (And really makes the main VO’s comments around when the shoe came out about hoping its not “too woke” really baffling. This show is quite woke already.
Seen 3 episodes so far, really enjoying it. Really really
Already they got Robin Atkin Downes and Roger Craig Smith in the show, very cool.
I cant help but hear Evil Sonic or just Crane from Dying Light in Roger’s voice though.
Dexter Resurrection Episode 1 & 2
Dexter Returns, with what is a continuation and in a lot of ways a Season 2 to New Blood.
What I can say is like New Blood it starts off strong. The show runners really know how to start a series strong, but when it comes to ending them it’s lack luster.
The Show does explain how Dexter evades the law, albeit by making Dexter a victim of circumstance with some slight disbelief on a characters integrity from the previous series.
Regardless the series does a decent enough job of Resurrecting the once legally declared dead Dexter Morgan.
Jack Alcott has a lot more to work with, but the show focuses more on the mental toll New Blood has taken on the character. There’s one scene involving drugs in Episode 2 I didn’t like, but other than that Harrison focus is primarily on the similarities and differences he has between his father and their subsequent dark passengers.
The show briefly dabbles on the serial killer equivalent of “Avengers assembling”. But the show is building to it which for better or worse will make or break this series since it seems to be relying on a suspension of disbelief.
Things are looking bright, and with the show intended to have more than one season I’m hoping this show rights the various wrongs from the previous two completed series.
