Unpopular opinions about Hitman

People being like “that David Badeson guy just doesn’t sound like 47 to me” :fearful:

i’m sure there is too. i’m just describing what i perceive as a bit of dissonance. hitman 4, 9 or whatever it is could go any which way.

Oh yeah yeah I’m 100% on the same page as you there.

Yeah. That’s why I’m glad at least most targets in main stories of Hitman have a good reason to be put down.

Still, I think ETs and bonus missions bringed some interesting targets that actually made you wonder “Is it really neccesary to put a bullet in their heads or that’s actually going over the top?”.

My previous feeling is more with Dino Bosco. Sure, he was a prick and self absorbed asshole but, he never did anything extremely evil. Similar goes to Mendola, Dylan Narváez (The Twin) and even Gary Busey.

Have you tried the “Contracts” mode in the game? You’re missing out if you haven’t!

LUCA WOOD IS INNOCENT!

However there is a difference, Contracts mode is entertain due it being player created content, where the “why” doesn’t matter unlike a story mission.

So @wincenworks point still stands

That argument doesn’t hold much water, sorry. But I SHALL NOT BE TEMPTED and will listen to wincenworks’ friendly advice to steer clear of this subject in this topic. If it would be brought up in a dedicated topic I’ll gladly oblige.

So, unpopular, yet hopefully palatable, opinion: I think the post-mission articles in Blood Money make for very poor reading and could have used a better editor.

I really want to say this, but man I absolutely love the courthouse/prison level of Absolution. Even if it was kinda linear this enivironment was great and felt really immersive. And I loved the sunlight and the way it permeated the rooms etc.

I agree. I would love another courthouse level, perhaps as a DLC to Hitman 3 or in a new Hitman game. There could be an opportunity where you can dress up as the judge and sentence your target to death!

Better than a airport level imo. So many interesting opportunities. Like find the prosecution’s case file and show one of the targets the other plans to turn them in for a lower sentence. They just write themselves honestly

The Sieker? Damn, I wholeheartedly disagree, but that’s a good unpopular opinion :+1:

Why did it have to be in the carpathian mountains? The train could’ve been anywhere, but why make me believe I could return to the asylum :unamused:

So it’d be a surprise to people who were expecting the asylum when 47 pops open that door and it’s a train…?

common sense would’ve lead you to the realisation that I meant the asylum in the first place, with no train at all

Eh, subversion of expectation is a tricky game to play tho. Sometimes people can love the surprise if it’s something they didn’t know they wanted / better than what they want. But if it’s of what they deem a lesser quality then I can be a real slap in the face. Like if told a kid I was getting them a pony for their birthday and then when the day comes it’s a tiny pony doll. I’ve subverted the expectations and surprised them, but probably at the cost of upsetting them.

Personally I went into H3 not even knowing Romania was there so I had no expectations. And the train level was phenomenal imo. But obviously if some people have imagined a grand return to the asylum they’ll be surprised, but mainly let down.

However, a key thing to remember tho is that IO didn’t tell us we were getting Romania and then leave us to stew. The locations were leaked before release. So it’s not IO’s fault that people had days to imagine this glorious return to the asylum before actually playing. In their version of events, people would buy the game, go in blind to Romania being there. Then when they get to that level be like “wait, no, it can’t be”, play the level and be like “oh, IO. You got me”, and have a nice chuckle, because expectations weren’t set too high. It’d be a nice feeling of the story coming full circle, not a crushing disappointment

TL;DR: Subverting expectations is tricky but it’s not IO’s fault people had expectations to begin with

Oh no, I know it’s a “controversial” thing to say, but after playing The Deceivers I concluded it’s just the electric phone, but with one extra step depending on how safe you want to be.

I think I ended up finding more quirks in the design of this elusive target because of this, but that’s just me.

It turns out Guards don’t check bathrooms after a concerning amount of time they will just stand there and wait. Also the two targets love trash cans so I had to improvise a little.

Great isolating tool, but I consider it just as over powered due to it being that way. It’s not as consistent as the electric phone, but it has the chance to become it.
