Funny how most recent open-world racing games focus so much on Japanese tuning car culture and drifting! You can see many references in this trailer, like AE86 from Initial D, S2000 from 2 Fast 2 Furious, Customization montage inspired by NFS Underground’s intro.

Rising Sun to me seems to emphasize more on anime style, stuff like itasha (car with anime character livery) and streets that resemble Akihabara. Hey but I’m not complaining. This is exactly my cup of tea!

We’re eating good next year with so many open-world street racing games, even better with most taking place in Japan. CarX Street is already on PC and consoles. Tokyo Xtreme Racer 2025 will land on PS5 next February. Japanese Drift Master just landed on Xbox last week. And probably the most anticipated one, Forza Horizon 6.

If you were a old fan of Dino Crisis then it looks like you might be in luck.

I am pretty sure if you are a Dino Crisis fan that means you are old. Not as old as the dinosaurs but pretty damn close.

Well anybody who even remembers Dino Crisis fits the bill… except me of course. :upside_down_face:

I am going to say that is a big ask from Dino Crisis fans, most of whom can’t remember where they put their keys or space out when they enter a new room.

Considering Dino Crisis is less old than Resident Evil, I highly doubt such is the situation.

Even in 1999 when that game was released I was playing even older ones, was 7 then and almost 34 now, far away from being old

Dino Crisis was released in 1999… which means it’s only 26 years old right now.

Doom is 7 years older.

The entirety of the Point-and-Click adventure era predates Dino Crisis.

In 1999 I was old enough to be actively working on preventing the year 2000 bug.

It’s not that old. Yeah, someone who still isn’t even 30 might not remember it, but to say that anyone that does is ready for retirement is a bit too much of an exaggeration in my view.

I see the copium hasn’t run out at the pharmacy of this assisted living community portion of the thread. Sure, I hope stepping over my good-natured ribbing has made you fogies feel as young as you aren’t anymore.

Also I don’t think using Doom and Resident Evil as examples works since those franchises still release games and are extant. Games are like dogs, their components are different so the maths for age is adjusted accordingly.

The math for games, regardless of components or whether they are still releasing, is the exact same as anything else: the number of times the Earth has completely circled the Sun since the moment they came into being.

On a somewhat related note, there is apparently a Dawn of War 4 being developed and set to be released next year. It appears to be returning to the gameplay mechanics of the original game, which was released back in 2004 but the 2nd and 3rd entries differed fairly significantly in their gameplay. What was originally a base-builder real time strategy game became more of a role player and lost a lot of the base building elements.

They havent shown any Chaos Space Marines yet, so i have no interest in the game.
Probably cut out for DLC

The four units they intend to include at launch are Necrons, Space Marines, Orks, and Adeptus Mechanicus (for the first time ever). No mention of the Imperial Guard either, which I find disappointing, but they will also probably be part of a later add-on.
