The new Craaaaazy Taxi is sounding really freaking fun! ![]()
Immediately after the trailer kept seeing things saying it uses ai ![]()
Hopefully not. They didnāt delist Persona 3 Portable when Persona 3 Reload came out. And the Persona 4 Golden port only arrived on Playstation and Xbox in 2023, so I mean Iād hope they wouldnāt delist them after only 4 years. Obviously, nothing is certain, and this is Sega as publisher, who have done this with their other franchises. But I donāt think it is likely.
And Persona 4 Golden is still a great title, even if it is a bit dated in ways. It was originally a PS2 title after all. But it goes on sale for half price for Ā£9 in the past, and I think thatās a decent price to pay.
Yuri Lowenthal revealed a Persona 4 remake was in the works when he voiced on Bluesky how sad he was for not being able to voice Yosuke anymore, weeks before they teased it at Xbox Showcase last year.
Itās a damn shame. I do think the P4G cast is borderline perfect. But P3R also decided to recast everyone too, which also included Yuri Lowenthal because he voices the MC in P3. He at least got to cameo as another character, as a bunch of the other original P3 cast got to as well, in P3R. So hopefully we might get some cameos in P4R. But it is sad regardless. Iām sure though that the new cast are very good in their own right.
No one mentioned this so Iāll post it. Iām cautiously optimistic. I didnāt hate the second one but it did demand a lot from you as a player, not mechanically speaking but emotionally. You had to be in the right frame of mind AND want to accept that you were playing a cinematic narrative heavy on the walking-simulation. The presentation and sound mixing are top notch. The fighting is very limited but also visceral and breathtaking. Hoping theyāve built something more gamey and accessible with this third entry.
HD-2D turn-based Final Fantasy? Yes, please. ![]()
And apparently slapping some form of āResonantā on something is the hip new trend all the kids are talking aboutā¦
Honestly astonished itās taken Square Enix this long to make another turn-based Final Fantasy. Lots of people have nostalgia for FF1 through 10, before the series became more and more of an action RPG. Not that they shouldnāt keep making the action ones, but it did seem weird they couldnāt make turn based FF as a side series or something. I think this could do well, as long as they properly market it.
As for the Direct in general, I think it was pretty good. Honestly, thereās been a lot of good game announcements across all the livestreams the past week, September is looking to be a very stacked month, probably due to companies trying to avoid competing with GTA VI. And hopefully, with only 5 months left, GTA VI wonāt be delayed again. Seems like if they were to announce a delay, now would be the time.
I own a Switch 1, which I love, but I havenāt gotten a Switch 2 yet. I definitely will, but I havenāt felt inclined so far. Really been waiting for that ākiller appā to arrive, at least for me anyway. Doesnāt help that I feel like so much of the Switch 2ās first year has been dominated by Switch 2 versions of Switch 1 games. Donkey Kong Bananza looks great, but I feel like I can wait to play that. Kind of amazed we still donāt have a big 3D Mario game on the horizon yet.
Saying that, the one thing for me that is on the horizon that really interests me is Fire Emblem: Fortuneās Weave. Mainly because I adore Three Houses, itās one of my favourite games of all time, and I consider it a must own title for those with a Switch 1/2. If Fortuneās Weave could recapture some of that magic, thatās the kind of game that would make me get a Switch 2.
Also helps that they are doing Nintendo Switch 2 editions of Xenoblade Chronicles 1, 2, and 3. Thatās a series Iāve really wanted to dig into, and also seems like one that would benefit from the Switch 2ās better hardware. And yeah, Ocarina of Time remake, I am definitely interested in that as well. Also the Star Fox remake looks like a lot of fun too.
Wish there was a nicer looking version of the Switch 2. Still think Nintendoās decision to make the Switch 2 look more āsmartā the black is the wrong choice. And I really donāt get these new Joy Cons. Blue and Yellow, but theyāre just tiny highlights, and they clash with the consoleās red and blue?
Guess weāll see in a few months. Will be keeping an eye out on Fortuneās Weaves reviews.
Big Walk has a release date: August 4. This is the new wacky cooperative game by House House, makers of Untitled Goose Game (the best Hitman game since Hitman).
The FAQ on their website is informative and quite funny:
Iām a single player gamer without the time or emotional bandwidth to play a cooperative game⦠but Iāve been following this development for a while and the game looks lovely.
That little game I said I was a consultant of sorts is getting an Early Access release on the 16th ![]()
Also The Guild 2 Renaissance, a game released over 16 years ago, recently got a new official patch that is currently in beta but itās getting constant updates and improvements. It added Steam workshop support, achievements, better multiplayer support and modding. Itās developed by community members but has the publisherās blessing to be official ![]()
First footage of Stuntman: Hollywood is coming out from press previews!
Gameplay looks really snappy, the car handles very arcadey, lots of chaotic stunt fun!
Weird thereās no director yelling at you and displays of specific actions, but that is probably turned off/hidden for the sake of more pleasing gameplay footage.
(GameRiot says that previews note itās a ālot more approachableā so Iām guessing there might be a mode with less of a focus on score-combo-building and more straight-up āfinish the level in one goā with less specific instructions you have to hit to complete it? I like the idea of a more relaxed āfinish this chase sceneā with just raw music and effects and not being yelled at the whole time)
Notes that the game is very much made in collaboration with Universal, so they have the rights to showcase movies, but donāt have the car licenses. But itāll use similar-looking generics instead. If you look at the Delorean Time Machine, it doesnāt even have any branding on its back, so⦠just a very similar-looking car I guess??
Confirmed so far (or maybe thatās all of them?) are Fast and the Furious, Back to the Future, Knight Rider, Miami Vice, Death Race and Earthquake.
Humorously, in the store page description for the game, it says: āGet behind the wheel of legendary vehicles like K.I.T.T. and the Time Machineā. Donāt think Iāve ever heard the car from Back to the Future called that, I think everyone just calls it the Delorean.
Possibly all of them, since both previous games also had 6 films each as well. The Playstation Blog has some more info, including: āBeyond the main films, Stuntman: Hollywood also includes B-roll episodes, short filler films and stunt arenas. Together, they add more stunts, tougher challenges, and more unexpected scenes to the game.ā (Also mentions Burnout and Split/Second being inspirations, which are great arcade racers to draw influence from too.)
I loved the first 2 Stuntman games, but honestly, Iām not sure how successful this can be, or if it will even make money. Racing games, outside a few series, just arenāt doing too hot. Certainly far from the golden era of the PS2 era. And even then, I donāt think either Stuntman sold very well. Iāll almost certainly pick this up for myself, but I do wonder if this will sell? Especially if they try and charge more than $40 for it.
Split/Second hell yeaaahhhh thatās cool that they mention it
RIP⦠![]()
Ah yeah I remember some of those for Ignition.
Mini one-level challenges that use new routes in an existing level. I specifically remember one involving some stunt commercial for a car polish brand or something? I just remember the Replay of the level using cool camera angles and cuts that the rest of the game didnāt really use.
Yeah I think thatās the legally-distinct way of having it vs paying for the license for the actual Delorean. And the thing is, Universal holds all the rights to the heavily modified āTime Machine Carā in the film. The fact that itās a DeLorean is secondary, so branding can be removed. To get both in one, youād have to get both parties to agree, which some legal people might not be too excited aboutā¦
I think I heard that either itās super expensive to license (because the company knows how influential BTTF was) or incredibly hard to license because theyāre picky.
Fortnite/Rocket League has it and they just call it the Back to the Future Time Machine. Weirdly it has the DMC logo on the front, but I guess they just canāt get the license for the āDeloreanā name?
Fortnite - Back to the Future Time Machine
Forza Horizon has had this too with the āstock DeLoreanā and āBTTF Time Machineā, where the Time Machine has zero DMC branding whatsoever, but thereās also the normal DeLorean which has all the branding. Weird legal mumbo jumbo.
the most recent Need for Speed Unbound also had the stock DMC DeLorean added in a Multiplayer update. They also added a little fire-streaks easter egg for driving at 88MPH as a cheeky little referenceā¦
Me:
The hillbilly running the county fair: AND UNDER THE SEMI - HEāS GOTTA CONTROL THIS DRIFT - CAN HE HIT EVERY ONE?!
True, but I was meaning in the meta sense. When people talk about the Time Machine from Back to the Future, theyāll usually refer to it as the āDeloreanā.
Simplest answer is the BTTF car transcended its original make and model. Calling it āThe Time Machineā is cheaper than paying the extra cash to add a label that being Delorean. Simple as that.
