What Videogame(s) Are You Playing?

There was review bombing going on about it. I try to stay spoiler free as I endure the time until the PC port of Forbidden West. So I had to scroll past some stuff. But when I read in one of the reviews that the DLC contains a lesbian character, I knew what the complaining is about. :joy:

Looking forward to that game. I loved the first.

There are rumors that Amazon might own the IP now…

Prison Architect is great, I’ve gotten all the achievements in the xbox and steam versions. I generally prefer a keyboard and mouse for it but the xbox version has an amazing escape mode compared to the pc version. I definitely recommend it

There’s a difference in modes between platforms?

So would the PS4/5 version have a “better” escape mode too?
I would have thought that PC and Consoles would have the same content by now for this old game, or at least PC being ahead given it came first.

PS also has it, yep. Console mode was made with the help of a different studio (double eleven) who I assume got given a chance to put some unique features in there.

I’m 10 hours if not more into GTA IV. Tomorrow I had to wake up early to hit the gym but I said f*** it… I am going to pass the whole night with whisky and cola playing this masterpiece.
On every GTA I tend to listen almost only to the talk shows because they are so funny but on this one everything is on a whole new level that I understand why they won’t remaster it in these sensitive times :joy:
I love this game so much

I finished Metroid Prime Remastered. Great game, astonishing how well the formula suits first person. Not perfect, I don’t think the game is a great shooter, which can be an issue in a couple of areas where the game decides to focus on combat.

Hopefully we’ll see Prime 2 and 3 remastered. The rumors oddly have been that Nintendo would port 2 and 3, but not remaster them, which seems like an odd decision, even more now that Prime 1 has sold very well. Guess we’ll see.

New Zelda is out on Friday. Think I may pick it up. I didn’t love Breath of the Wild but still enjoyed it, just with lots of little things dragging it down for me. It’s either this or Advance Wars or Fire Emblem Engage, but it would be nice to be part of the hype for a change.

I made it to the Lab in RE2R.

I was partially following a map guide that mistakenly only mentioned “Leon” for the Sewers when showing the differences between maps of the two characters. It made me think that Claire didn’t have a sewer section of her own which felt nice… but I was led astray.
There was a whole dark creepy sewer section of running around, ugh, I hated it.

the Birkin crane fight was also stupidly tough.
I don’t know what I did in my 1st run but I managed to get him with the crane in one go.

However, this time, even after expending some decent ammo into him, the crane needed a second go to finish the battle… And the problem is, I kept getting hit by the crane myself every 2nd time I activated it.
“When using the crane, don’t get caught in your own trap!” dumb stupid loading screen tip burned into my brain uuuuugh.
I did it though, eventually. Swing the crane twice and didn’t get hit by it.

And now I’m in the spooky dark lab. I’ve noticed I’m using much more of my ammo against enemies. Maybe too much but there’s usually some type of ammo nearby in each section of a map.

Birkin 2, or Birkin crane is an unnecessarily confusing fight if you don’t know what the deal is.

The thing is Birkin 2 has damage tresholds that determine how many crane hits it takes before he goes down for good.

Give him no damage at all and he goes down in three crane hits.

Hit him enough so he downs one time, two crane hits

Down him two times or more, one crane hit.

The birkin fights are awesome, love all of them, except maybe the very first one.

I think bossfights are a surprising strength of re2make. Theyre good resource drains on the first run. But when you learn them they can be excellent challenges and overall fun.

Even the first birkin fight which is both faster and more resource efficient to do knife only!

I just finished replaying Control for the first time and this game has one of the most absurd bad endings

It feels like the game ends in a sudden.
Faden finds out about the Hedron and immidiately senses that Polaris is trapped in there, she goes in and gets ambushed by the Hiss, when she defeats the Hiss enemies and fully releases Polaris, it abandons her in a sudden and the Hiss takes over her, Game Ends

tf is this ending lol

??? But… that’s not really the ending???

I’d say the actual ending is a little abrupt, it doesn’t end on any traditional “big final boss” to unload bullets into. But apart from that it ends in an expected open-book cryptic way.

I’m in the boat where while the game ends abruptly the DLC’s wrap up the remaining plot threads necessary and leads into Alan Wake 2.

Control imo is always better the second time around.

Agreed, I deleted a section of my comment where I mentioned this for some reason

The Foundation delves deeper into the origins of the House, and the Alan Wake DLC ends with a cutscene that teases future FBC operations.

It is a little bit of a shame that the “clean up” of the House to lift the lockdown technically happens off-screen, but I guess part of the blame is on the open-structured gameplay to let you finish up any side-missions post-game.

That’s Resident Evil 2 Remake done with! Oof, wow, what a scare-fest.
I was prepared for a few sequences this time around – as they vaguely came back to me, and as I read-through a walkthrough of what items to expect ahead – but it was still scary AF.

I got very risky with my ammo near the end, as I started to see my powerful Grenade Launcher ammo deplete. But I made it through.

Would have been cool to have the 2nd Run be a parrallel to the main sequence, instead it’s just an alternate telling of the Escape from Raccoon City (With Leon/Claire parallel journey happening off-screen)

Pretty sure the future entries get more action-based instead of horror, so it might get easier to get into those.
Though now I’m interested in going through RE7 again, and that’s a clear return to horror sooo… :person_shrugging: we’ll see if I have the strength for that.

Finally got back to playing Assassins’ Creed: Rogue and just last night finished all of the side content, barring a handful that can only become unlocked after reaching a certain point in the main story. This particular game is well-known in the series for having a short story mode and a bulk of side quests, and I stopped following the story missions at exactly halfway to get the side quests out of the way, and now aside from those handful, I’ve done that, and am so now through a majority of the game. I suspect I’ll be able to finish it in the next week, maybe two weeks, making it the longest AC game that it’s taken me to beat, due to pausing for months to play Hitman and Resident Evil.

Once this one is done, it’s on to Assassins’ Creed: Unity, and the French Revolution. This is one I’m really looking forward to, because I’ve heard it’s presentation of revolution-era Paris is the most beautifully rendered city in the series to date, and that the assassination missions in this game are so versatile that it’s considered the closest the AC series has ever gotten to Hitman. Supposedly, you can do the usual thing of running right to your target, slaughtering any guards or soldiers that stand in your way until you get to them; you can stealth your way across rooftops, through windows, and above rafters until your target is isolated, kill them, and then run for the exit until you’re safe; or you can even blend in with a disguise until you’re right next to your target, stab them in the heart when no one is looking, then slink right back into the crowd and move along with nobody knowing what happened. And while that’s all usual AC fare, this time you are actually presented with each of these options, so the player is aware that they can choose a method instead of just winging it and finding out the options based on how good they are. Can’t wait to try it, once Rogue is finished.

So my sister has been absolutely hooked to Hades.

It’s been about a month, and she’s beaten the final boss 17 times (7 extra after the credits). That’s already surpassed me in many ways.

It took me many on and off sessions of playing over about 6-8 months before I beat the game proper.
I’ve only beaten the boss twice after the credits, and honestly I kinda got a little burnt out after so many deaths already.

I think she’s died a lot more than me, as in her first 50-ish deaths she still hadn’t made it to the 4th Level whereas I had many deaths before that.
But yeah she’s pretty hooked into grinding the game even after finishing the main story. She loves romancing the characters and quickly maxed out relationships with Than, Meg and Dusa (I’ve only maxed out Dusa).

Just… I’m very stunned. She’s had her Switch for over a year, didn’t really play it much during the school year, bought Hades at Christmas but hadn’t gotten around to it until April when she got back from school… and she’s killing it in the game.
