You sure look (sound?) like you could use one. After all, a man who never eats pork bun is never a whole man!
Ok Imma go get one now too ![]()

Shotgun King: The Final Checkmate. Have you ever thought chess was too boring and didn’t have enough violence in it? This may be the game for you. A roguelite in which you play as the only black piece, a King armed with a shotgun, against a horde of white pieces on a chess board, and everytime you progress a level by killing everyone or the white king, you unlock a new upgrade but the white side also gets an upgrade too.
Pretty fun little title, nice little distraction. It’s £9 on Steam, good time for a novelty title.
I’m trying to be good at the moment and not buy games for a bit, so will need to pick something from my backlog.
Finally a relief - amazon delivery boy knocked at my door. Permanently closing this game after the below visuals

Bought Gotham Knight and Returnal at crazy 60% off, festival offer - Two games in a planned budget of one. ![]()
And managed to balance both of them above PS5 console - try it, its challenging.
Cyberpunk taught me some patience.
May or may have not started Disco Elysium.
Also may or may have not shot a kid and got an instant game over.
I also shot at the kids on my first playthrough. You either violence the kids in some way, you die trying to get the tie off the fan or die from sitting down…

Fuck does Cuno care, master Skywalker?!
Finally finished The Witcher 3´s main campaign earlier this week, after a sidestep into the Hearts of Stone questline (which was phenomenal). Was originally thinking of doing that after the main story, but decided on doing it before to salvage some XP out of it.
Now I´m at last enjoying the beauties of Toussaint and the Blood and Wine expansion. Still have a handful of unfinished side quests left in the Velen/Redania/Skellige areas, plus a sh*tload of ? to clear, but I´ll tend to those after BaW.
Edit: I love that CDPR did what Rockstar failed to do with GTAV, that is to let me own a vineyard where I can chill.
Yeah… Being a proper witcher, I´m always short on coin and nowhere near to attract the tax man, lol. Gotta sell all those looted swords finally (hopefully the guy in Toussaint still pays full price as the wiki advertised).
And speaking of bureaucrats, I absolutely adored the quest referencing The 12 Tasks of Asterix. Childhood memories at their finest.
(Also, Geralt and the boys getting hammered at Kaer Morhen was one of the most Slavic moments I´ve experienced in video games)
Every six months or so I buy one month of game pass to try a few game, and I look for 5-10 hours long game to do.
I’m currently playing Celeste, as it was highly recommanded. It’s a lovely game, but the gameplay is not for me. As I said before, I’m rubbish at fast, reflex, and precise gameplay.
Fortunately, the game has an assist mode. Si I turned both invincibility and unlimited stamina. I still kept the one dash, so I still have to think of what to do.
Also : the soundtrack.
Had a chill evening playing Unpacking.
2-3 hours, gives the feels. Lovely. If you are with someone, it’s a good share.
Outside of that, I tried a few hours Microsoft Flight Simulator, with the Cloud option. It runs surprisingly well, if not perfect.
I did some of the flight lessons, which were a bit nostalgic, since I learned a bit of aeronautic in High School. (but I had at best 5 hours of flight total)
Echoes of the Eye is amazing. It manages to be a new and different addition to the main game while still feeling like an organic outgrowth of Outer Wilds. The new mechanics are fun to figure out, the new location is awesome, maybe my favorite in the game, and the story that teases out adds poignancy and depth to the main campaign.
It’s also a lot more focused–at least if you play it after the main game instead of in conjunction with it, which is what you’re arguably “supposed” to do–which I mostly liked, but it would have been nice to be able to go somewhere else and do something different for a couple of loops on those times when I did get a bit stuck. But the little revelations when you piece things together are very much worth it.
I think I might have even liked Echoes a bit more than the original game. It’s pretty close, though.
Finally concluded the last bit of Assassin’s Creed: Unity. My final thoughts - a fun game, but I’m glad to have it behind me. Now I can focus on Freelancer for a while until it’s time for Syndicate.
Still playing Celeste.
No assist, no easy way to play the Celeste PICO-8 bonus levels.
(it’s the original Celeste made during a game jam)
508 deaths in 37 minutes…
But I made it to the summit.
As for the rest of the game, I now use only the “dash assist” option from the assist mode. No invincibility. The only things is that now the dash is not immediate, but freezes the game and lets me choose the orientation as long as I hold the button.
Transforming the game into a “real time with pause” platformer.
Better breathing, and better control with a xbox controller.
Today I was playing Astro’s Playroom. It’s the pack-in game of the PS5 and a pretty fun collectathon. I love how each of the worlds are themed to a different part of the PS5 console, and the robots in the worlds have a good amount of personality. It’s jam packed with references to past Playstation hardware and iconic Playstation franchises, both new and old. I haven’t finished it yet but it seems fairly short, though I can’t really complain since it’s free.
I was surprised to see it when I first booted up the PS5 cause I haven’t really heard anyone talk about it in the whole time the PS5’s been out. Maybe I wasn’t playing close enough attention, maybe it just hasn’t made much of an impact on gamers. I wonder if this game was Sony’s way of trying to attract some of Nintendo’s more casual/family-friendly audience.
Got 3 games for the Switch the other day.
Super Mario Bros. Yeah. The old arcade version. I’m clearly not used to playing it… Also, when I continue it says to press (blue button) to continue, but I start at the beginning - World 1-1. Not sure what’s going on there.
Bad Dudes by Data East. Another oldie from the 80’s arcades. It’s a bit janky/clunky, but I think I can git gud if I memorize the enemy patterns. Most of the bosses seem like they’re a test of how many coins you have since they’re cheap af. My biggest issue is being unable to reassign the jump and attack buttons.
And last but certainly not least…
The House of the Dead (Remake). It was on sale and I’ve always debated about getting it since it doesn’t support a light-gun (the Switch -that is). I haven’t played it using the ‘gyroscopes’ yet, but I think I’ll have a better time using that method. The analog stick is okay… And your best strat is mainly remembering where the enemies will be on the screen. Get into the habit of counting your shots and reload when needed, or if you’re low on bullets anyway and will need a rapid-fire burst soon.
I have now dealt with another stealth classic and played through the first Thief! I’ve apparently had the gold edition in my Steam library for ages and just didn’t notice it. Well, it was finally time to give it a try as it’s one of the series that popularized the stealth genre, alongside MGS. Just had to install a widescreen fix and since a HD texture mod was apparently a thing, I installed it as well.
I’m just barely older than the game but it still holds up! The main mechanics are quite simple but they work (well, the sword combat is crappy but at least it’s not the main focus), the shadows aren’t just as reliable as in, for example, Splinter Cell. Thankfully there’s a visibility meter. There are some fun gadgets, I just didn’t get to use the rope arrows as much as I would have wanted to, maybe in the next game. The map system is not the most accurate one as you can’t see your exact location within an area, but that’s part of the charm. The soundtrack is very atmospheric and the sound design is great overall. I can never get enough of the burricks’ crying when I hit them enough lol. Voice acting and AI are what I’d expect from NPC:s in a late 90s game. There are classic Thief missions, levels spiced with horror elements and some unorthodox experiments. While they’re not for everyone and the last three missions certainly weren’t the best ones, at least they’re something new so that not every mission is a mansion ransacking job. There was something good even in most of the bad missions. I played through the game on hard difficulty, expert seemed too much and normal would have made me miss too much as the game gives you more objectives and higher loot requirements on higher difficulties. Some thoughts about the missions and a ranking, starting from the best one:
I gotta play the second game as well later, it’s said to be more of a traditional Thief game and many say it’s the best in the series. Well, that’s for later.
