What Videogame(s) Are You Playing?

That’s interesting. I mean it sounds like the PSP version is a proper remaster to fit the PSP, rather than just a half-assed port.

Persona 5 Royal also adds an epilogue with a new palace. I will say though that I think it is worth playing, the only downside is that to access the epilogue, you have to fill in a requirement the game does not tell you about, and therefore it’s easy to vanilla the base game, and then the game just ends skipping over the new content, which is nonsense. And I have heard P4G does something else like that regarding its own endgame too.

I think this alone makes me want to choose the PSP version. P5 lets you choose this option for your party members but I also went with directly controlling the party. Can’t imagine trying to fight some bosses and just rely on my AI buddies making the right moves considering how reliant I was on some combos.

Honestly, stuff like this makes me think P3 could really use a proper remaster treatment. Ideally one that could add in the PSP’s new content while combining it with the console’s 3D environments, and maybe adding in the epilogue in there somewhere somehow. A proper port job like that is something I’d pick up.

To be honest, I don’t blame you. At the risk of stereotyping, I honestly think Japanese games, especially the likes of the RPGs are often guilty of being very unintuitive. I do think with the large size of the games, it has to click with you or it doesn’t. I mean personally I’ve had lots of problems with getting into the older Final Fantasies. I can probably play XV or the VII remake since they’re action games basicallys, but IV thru IX all use that weird turn based but not quite turn based system. X is so far the only game I’ve played and beaten, partly because it just was a turn based game.

You’re going to hate Persona 1 if you don’t like convoluted stuff.

I love the game and its oddness but it’s not for everyone, or really anyone outside of me and like 10 others.

TBH, you’re probably right. But we’ll see, I’ve started P4, will definetly give P3PSP a shot, I imagine I’ll give P1 and P2 a go just for the sake of it.

If you play P3P as the boy protagonist then you need to make up for your crime by listening to the music exclusive to the girl route.

The game has a whole lot of music exclusive to the female protagonist including but not limited to the best battle theme. But both OSTs are good so I imagine (hope) it’s something you replay later on as the other protag. You can’t go wrong with either OST but the girl one is overshadowed.

Try Doom Eternal? I’m OBSESSED with Doom Eternal! (But can’t try it since my console is last gen).

I guess we’ll see when I get there. Although at this point I feel obligated to play the girl by talking to you at this point. I’m 5 hours into Persona 4 now and in the first dungeon now. I’m enjoying it, I’m liking the first 2 party members you get, and the whole mystery murder thing is intriguing. The card system is very interesting, that isn’t in P5, I kinda like it. See where this goes but I think I’ll be sticking with this.

When you eventually get to P3 at the beginning it says the boy is for regular players and the girl is for people who played the original.

There isn’t a difficulty or story difference, only a few main story lines are noticeably different and it’s not anything major.

I think they just did it because the boy is the canon route and everything was written for him. The girl has a couple scenes that play on your expectations if you’re already familiar.

If you only plan to play once I think the girl is the way to go, but if you plan on playing twice I recommend boy and then girl.

Well, depends really, how long is Persona 3? I may play it twice but not sure I’d play it twice as in straight after the first time.

In terms of variety I’d say yeah the girl route is the way to go, since it’s essentially the only version you’d ever be able to play P3 as an alternate protagonist, with an alternate HUD color scheme, etc.

Emo boy has had much more exposure elsewhere. (Though I know the FeMC has her own passionate cult following)
Also, using the emo boy means you’ll be hearing an Emo Yosuke for your time in the game, as they share voice actors.

Girl is better but both routes are worth doing.

Going from boy route to girl route is a huge upgrade.
Going from girl route to boy route is just eh.

It’s about seeing everything the game has to offer and ending on a high note. But the girl is the better single experience. Probably play that and then in like 5 years when you’re craving the game again do the more boring route and see the content exclusive to it.

Good advice. Again, see what happens. Really I just want the 2 of you to play Persona 5 at some point so I can have some people to chat story spoilers for the game. And hey, like I say, I’m already getting suckered into Persona 4, so be interesting to see how I feel that story goes and how it compares to 5.

I will eventually but I don’t have a working PS3 or a PS4 at all.

Just waiting for Atlus to port P5 to my Vita or slightly more realistically the Switch or PC.

Kindof astonished they haven’t already ported P5, or indeed when P5R came out. I mean, like you say, vanilla P5 got a PS3 release, so I mean it should be able to run on the Switch. And Strikers came out on PC and Switch as well as PS4. And SMTV is going to be a Switch exclusive for the time being. Not to mention Joker getting into Smash was big. Seems like a very strange missed opportunity.

Also I can’t help but ponder if Persona 3 or even the older Personas will get the remaster treatment down the line. I mean, if SMT3 can get it, seems like an obvious thing to do. Or hell, how about that PC release of Persona 4 Golden, why not shove it on PSN or Nintendo’s eshop?

I’m waffling here but seems like some weird missed opportunities, at least in my view.

I feel like it’ll happen eventually. Apparently Atlus had no idea Persona 4 Golden would have sold so well on PC so this is probably something they’re going to do later but didn’t intend to earlier.

PS plus games look crap this month for ps4, although the Ps5 one is supposed to be good.
Ps5:
A plague tale: Innocence
Ps4:
COD black ops 4
Wwe 2k battlegrounds (cartoons??)

I’ll probably play a bit of that COD while waiting for the season of lust- not much in hitman rn. Supposed to be a bonus mission or something next season.
Otherwise I’ll be playing Batman arkham knight and asylum, dug them up about a week ago and I’ve almost finished knight and have done a bit of asylum.

Just started my first playthrough of Broken Sword 3 - The sleeping Dragon.

I love 1 and 2, but had to skip 3 and 4 because my PC back then couldn’t handle them, 5 is also very good and I cant wait for BS6 one day.

Screw Monkey Island, Broken Sword is the greatest Point and Click Adventure.

This.

We all know that Sam and Max: Hit the Road is the best point and click adventure game out there.

We all know Day of the Tentacle is the best point & click adventure ever. Although i love Monkey Island and Broken Sword just as much. At least the first two entries to each series.

Shame they dont do great p&c games anymore. Or they just dont click with me as much as they used to.
