Yeah that is because they had stuff from earlier versions of the game they had to cut but the success of the original PC version led to them fleshing it out more and some other fixes. Recently they updated the game so that it has even more content now.
Not to break up the Disco Elysium discussion (I’ll definitely put it on my Steam wishlist), but I just jumped into the DLC content of The Outer Worlds.
I’ve already finished the “Peril on Gorgon” DLC and thought it was great. Honestly better than what I’ve experienced in the Main Quest (and I’m at the point of no return, so…).
It has better visuals and atmosphere in general, and what I felt was quite an engaging story.
It did have some confusing side quests, like one where the description mentioned one place, but it was in an entirely different one.
Just played a few minutes of the “Murder on Eridanos” DLC, but from what I’ve seen so far it looks like a lot of fun as well.
Strange that the DLC feels noticably better than the main game.
Just beat Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker (true ending) this morning!
I’ve been trying the fool’s errand of a complete, chronological playthrough of every Metal Gear Solid game. (not sure about including the MSX games yet. Rising is optional but a 2nd playthrough of that will be a fun way to cap the whole journey off)
You’d think PW would be disappointing coming off MGS3, but it was really fun. Peace Walker knows what it wants to be- A Monster Hunter inspired portable reinterpretation of MGS, and does it well IMO. It’s surreal as hell seeing damage numbers and etc in an MGS game, but it all kinda fits together.
The story also works. I heard this was Kojima’s first foray into full control over the series’ writing, and I can see it, it reminds me a lot of Death Stranding. The initial hook doesn’t try very hard to keep you invested, and the flow of the story as a whole doesn’t try to be “full bodied” across its duration but it absolutely HITS the landing of the (fake) ending very well.
Now, I’ve got like 60 hours worth of a u d i o l o g s to listen to, and Metro: Exodus. Ground Zeroes should be fun, and then it’ll be revisiting The Phantom Pain, I think I’ll replay the campaign and shoot for full S ranks on every mission, as I never did that first time round.
Just now finished Assassins’ Creed 4: Black Flag with 100% completion, and will likely finish its spin-off Freedom Cry before the release of Freelancer for H3, so I’ll be right where I want to be.
User TheChicken had been playing The Stanley Parable: Ultra Deluxe, and had been eager to experience the NEW CONTENT.
He spent over an hour re-experiencing those endings he enjoyed in the original 2013 release, giggling like a mad school girl.
Everything was immaculately restored and remastered to meticulous detail. The textures. The narration. The choices. It was so perfect, he began to wonder where the new content was…
“I’ve been through 5 endings now, and haven’t seen any new paths, where could they be?” he clucked, as chickens so often do.
As TheChicken decided to go to the meeting room, he found a door on his right.
Upon entering the door, he exclaimed “Yes! I have finally reached the NEW CONTENT!” and continued down the path.
Soon, he began giggling once more, astounded by the new level of wit and metatextual writing from this simple video game, packaged as nothing more than a simple expansion.
TheChicken was happy.
Edit: holy crap, I believe CCC when they they say the New Content and the New Script are legitimately longer than the original game. I can tell.
They’ve truly gone above and beyond.
Cue the MGS Monster Hunter cross over side ops.
Just finished Assassins’ Creed Freedom Cry, and so now I’m where I want to be as far as pending games, waiting for Freelancer to drop. I may start AC: Rogue while waiting or maybe not, but I won’t feel as desperate to have that one out of the way so I can devote my full attention to Freelancer. Either way, I’m just slightly below halfway through the Assassins’ Creed series as it currently stands.
I’m trying out MGS through emulation. I always wanted to go through the series and finally got the chance to try it out. From what I’ve experienced the stealth sections are fun but I don’t like the combat. So far I’ve reached the Ocelot boss fight.
The shooting is very hard to control. Is it always like this in the original console or is it because of the keyboard? I never managed to reliably shoot at Ocelot and kept dying to him.
I haven´t tried emulation yet, but I was under the impression that it actually requires you to use a controller? If you´re playing on keyboard, then I understand the struggle. I played the game for the first time about a year and a half ago and the combat sequences were mostly a pain (particularly the sniper duel where the keyboard movement was waaaaay too slow) given how hard it is to line up a precise shot angle with the keyboard. I imagine it´s probably a lot easier/more comfortable with a controller. As far as I remember the Ocelot fight, make sure you´re as close to him as possible. Just chase after the fucker and shoot him in the back whenever you can lol, you´ll get him eventually. I kept dying quite a lot as well…
The game itself is great and holds up really well (especially the atmosphere, music, and details), but I found the stealth sections to be pretty barebones overall (mostly just a Pac-Man sort of evasion gameplay) and out of the 14 or so hours it took me to complete it, I feel like the vast majority was spent with cutscenes, codec calls, boss fights and a shitload of backtracking (which is something I absolutely hate), something I understand is very much common for all the old MGS games. Still great though and need to give it another go. Haven´t played any of the other games yet aside from MGSV…
Also, you can buy it on GOG if you have an account there (still requires a community patch to work in widescreen, but hey).
Really? That’s the way to beat him? He goes around the room a lot so I thought I was supposed to stand around, avoid his bullets and aim at him. I’ll try your advice next time.
He really kept us revolving, huh? Spinning around the room like a game of Cat and mouse?
Pretty sure that´s what I did at first as well… and ended up missing a bunch of shots and dying all the time Nah, go as close as possible on his ass. It might take a few tries but you´ll get it done. Just watch out for his shots, especially the ricochets.
Yeah, most of those bosses will do that…
Iam playing Sekiro: Boy am i already dying alot. I got this from my friends as a birthday gift and by good god am I enjoying it. In a different way to elden ring luckily. But man did i not expect this game to be as hard as it is. Chained ogre took me 10 times atleast and when i finally did kill him i got so in the zone that i never used a single healing gourd.
easily my favourite from game.
I saw a cheap pre-owned copy of Assassin’s Creed Valhalla yesterday, figured it can use it to kill some time before a new game comes out that I might like or Ambrose Island’s release.
I haven’t played it yet, but from what I’ve heard, you might be halfway through it by the time we celebrate the one year anniversary of Freelancer’s release.
It has been ten hours and I am still not even in England. That isn’t even accounting for the fact that I am fixing to get the DLC which would add more to do.
You playing as female Eivor, male, or letting the animus decide?
I picked the woman option.
