This is a bit old, as I was waiting to see the effects of it. I deleted my accounts on Reddit and Telegram, and deactivated my Instagram account too (might need to use it to contact a few people in the future, or I would’ve deleted it as well)
Life feels way better now, plus more time to spend on more important matters.
On another note, I was called pedophile by a classmate for saying “I liked Natalie Portman’s appearance in Leon”, nothing extra. They were saying it “as a joke” by their further explaination but I’m still in a shock for that. Why would you say that to anyone “as a joke”?
indeed, that’s messed up. it seems like that classmate was trying to be eDgY and failed. at least you are mature enough to see above it, that’s all that matters.
Some people aren’t as adept with frame-perfect moves or even might not be good with games that overly restrict your character (no health regen, limited retries/life, etc.)
While they may never experience the game in the same brutal way you might (where you’ll be able to overcome the difficult odds but they can’t) games should still have plenty of freedom to make them easier for players who might be more interested in the story and world rather than the gameplay blocking their progress at every turn.
Plus, difficulty accessibility can offer options to players who might want to make things harder or not featured in the developer-created set options.
Make your character super powerful, but make them fragile as F. Turn off all the HUD but give yourself forgiving amount of health to adapt. On and on, more options is great for everyone.
simple solution to that, watch online walkthroughs with no commentaries to experience the world and characters. Really bad example, but if dark souls had difficulty options to make it more accessible to everyone i don’t think it would carry the same charm of dark souls.
that would ruin the experience in a different way, by overly confident people constantly getting their ass kicked in a non-fun way because they think they can handle super-duper hard mode
more options for general accessibility are fantastic, but let players mess around with the intended experience and theyll ruin the game for themselves
I think you’re tackling this at the wrong angle. Not every game is supposed to be super-punishing Dark Souls.
Ratchet and Clank is a silly action-adventure title. Its also an extremely colourful sci-fi animated world. So, having options that make enemies more readable (even if the world looks like a sepia-tone filter) can help players who might be overwhelmed or have ocular difficulties.
Adding a slo-mo when mobs of enemies are on screen or you’re being shot at, can help get the kind of reaction time needed to avoid it.
Yes, you’re not supposed to be a God at every game, and there’s an argument that anyone can turn these on and be done with the game in 3 hours, but then that’s when you can put limiters. Link it to achievements.
If you want to know who an Epic Gamer is, make them complete Uber Hard without accessibility options on, give it an acheivement. Games have done similar yhings in the past where some accolades can’t be awarded if cheats are turned on.

Your idea of fun is not someone else’s idea of fun. What you think is too easy is someone else’s idea of ‘just right’.
modern ratchet and clank is also painfully easy (the original remake atleast, have not played a rift apart), and all the stuff it does to make enemies and friendlies more readable is really good and not a problem at all. that stuff is awesome and does not interfere with the experience at all.
fair enough
also fair enough
linking stuff to achievements is not really gonna affect most people, especially if you look at some achievement stats.
My biggest problem is really the thing where people turn them on and start complaining that the game is badly designed while they ruined the game for themselves.
I’m at least happy that these assist-modes and other things are here for the people that actually need them but i wish that they weren’t here for everyone
For these last few days I have been trying to sleep but for some reason I always wake up at around 2-3 a.m and cannot fall asleep again. I looked up resources on dealing with this issue and so far none of them has worked out (they have helped but I cannot sleep again for some reason). I really want to sleep right now.
I had (and have) this issue since a few months ago. I’d recommend you go see your doctor; Mine gave me low dosage pills for the matter and frankly that helped a lot. A consistent sleep schedule while using the pills helps as well.
A township just outside of Chicago just passed a law that says the local government will split the cost of outside security cameras with any resident or business owner who wants to install them but in return for half the cost you have to sign paperwork giving the police access to the footage whenever they ask for it.
Actually I think it’s pretty clever. If they just passed a law saying you must give up your own footage it would be challenged in court and overturned. If they started putting up cameras everywhere it likely would be challenged as well and they don’t have the infrastructure to house all the footage, this way they get more cameras and they don’t need to house the footage, it costs less, people freely agree to share, really the only downside is they won’t have immediate access. They will have to go get it. But that last part also means they won’t just be combing through footage looking for silly stuff either. They will go ask for footage when a crime is committed, not run an bot that looks for someone doing 31 in a 30mph zone.
I have to admit it does seem remarkably underhanded in its genius but I still think they could just take steps to reduce crime overall. But that would mean actually having to fix broad systemic issues with the state of Illinois and America more broadly and most Americans don’t believe they have broad systemic issues let alone have the political will to fix them.
Yea it’s not the end all problem solver, but it’s a great way to improve the camera coverage area which will help solve a crime when they occur.
I live in a 21 story building and we have cameras, but if I had a home or a store front id jump on this. If for no other reason than it lowers your insurance payments so eventually it pays for itself.
True but I don’t even think it is an end-all problem nor that it will even help in the long-run, it just seems like they want you to do their jobs for them. Then again American cops are the masters making more problems than fixing them.
Nothing to say except architectural storeys have an E. This is pedantry you can mostly ignore this.
my roommate tested positive for COVID-19. she was sniffly yesterday, had a dry cough. she even gargled salt water yesterday which was out of the ordinary. when i pressed her on why she did that, she laughed and said “haha i don’t know, i got a lot of phlegm for some reason,” trying to play it off. she then took the test today and…yeah. she’s incredibly outgoing and always goes to parties so i doubt she knows exactly when she got it. i’m extremely upset by this because i have a sister in the hospital, so i was hoping to go visit her, and now i cannot because i don’t want to fucking kill her. taking a COVID test tomorrow, don’t know whether i should skip classes or not either. i mean tomorrow is the day i have to present a huge project. i can’t not go(??!). i’m vaccinated so it’s not me im worried about, just others. now would be a great time to do a kill everyone challenge…but i may not see my Xbox for a while it seems.
Sorry to hear that this is happening especially this close to the holidays, hopefully everything works out in the end with your sister recovering along with your roommate.
It’s a rough situation. I’m not sure where your government is but mine now says that if someone in your household has Covid you should continue to go to work and just self monitor (as long as you are vaccinated* and not showing symptoms), so we have lots of people going to work with a household member sick. Mostly they let people know and are more diligent than usual with their mask. Mostly changing from cloth to N95s.
*so far vaccinated means two doses of Moderna, Pfizer, Astra Zenika, or one of J+J or Synopharm. No need to boost even though we are encouraging everyone to get boosted.
