Ahh, like clockwork, a new HITMAN ā€œreleaseā€, a new wave of questions regarding what the best way to get everything is… (this time from the PSVR subreddit due to the hype)

Also, wow, the last few months have been a little bit of a roller coaster on the subreddit for Hitman fans!
People lamenting there being no PSVR2 port, the announcement, worry, and reveal of the now infamous Quest 3 version, and finally, today, with skeptical ā€œwait and seeā€ optimism? Kinda?

I had a look in one of the threads (the second one), and a lot of it is just…not cautionary at all. About 80% of the comments are just hype for this to be released and a fair portion are even questioning why people had a problem with the original PSVR version to begin with. There are a lot of people agreeing that it wasn’t that bad at all.

In fairness, there are quite a few people who are suggesting getting the base ā€œflatscreen gameā€ and deluxe because it’s a good game even without VR, but this is certainly not the response I expected.

There’s very little cynicism or cautious optimism in the thread, there’s barely any talk about it being exclusive. It’s just…hyping up a new VR version. The upvotes seem to indicate people are aware of the issue and either don’t see it like that, or don’t care out of apathy or for simply being uninformed.

Just a lil’ vignette for you all. I was not expecting so much positivity.

Right, sorry, I guess I didn’t quite word that correctly, there is quite a bit of hype for this for sure.

But to put people’s off-the-cuff excitement into context though, this IS the last major VR device to get access to the mode, with the original PSVR1, the many PCVR devices and the standalone Quest 3 crowd already accounted for. (Despite how awful and insulting that Q3 port might be…)

Plus, a lot of people have felt that some of PSVR’s library is a bit lacking when it comes to major releases, especially from Sony themselves (who’ve been practically non-existent with their output since launch)

So… this is a pretty major IP and an exciting addition to the catalogue for those who have it at the very least. :slightly_smiling_face:

Also, to be fair, I’m sure the majority of people who frequent that sub most likely only have a PSVR device on console, and no way to play those VR games at a similar quality on PC.
So, probably not much talk about PCVR. Also, IOI actually haven’t mentioned this is a PS Exclusive either, which they probably would if this were a full-on Sony development deal.

They didn’t the first time around, despite the fact it was pretty clear to everyone that it was. That sardonic quote I gave a few comments back was based on truth. IO really did act like that.

:joy::joy: speaking of them, they are in the files, @Dribbleondo is in the process on giving me a better insight into it

The PSVR1 implementation was what it was. Outside of getting the headset and the game, the mode was free. Therefor it can kinda be jank compared to games built for the headset.

The PSVR2 mode being a purchase raises expectations. Curious to see reception after release. I don’t think it’ll be a reason to go out and get a headset, but I’m not in a position to own one myself so whatever.

These features making their way back to PC isn’t impossible, but this screams a PS deal with exclusivity window. IO are certainly juggling a lot of exclusivity deals with things. Bond must be taking too long to make, imo.

I talked this upgrade into existence. Very well now; make sure you give freelancer mode support and love. I would pay more for full VR support through the entirety of 3D content, not just main story support. Make it an upgrade worth production and our support. PSST took long enough to decide on. Also, I have only ever played freelancer. If that mode does not make it to PSVR2, neither will the Hitman upgrade make it on to my game library. ā€œFACTS HAVE SPOKEN.ā€ It’s the best part of the entire game, in my opinion.

Will it also have the ps5 saving bug constantly stuck floating on screen in vr?

They just put out a new blog about it and a release date

Aww, DAMN, that’s… very much not December!? :face_exhaling: :sob:

Well, if this is the ā€œnewerā€ version of VR the game needs, then they need all the time they can get!

If they’re delaying it by a whole 3 months, I guess this means a Year 5 is practically confirmed, in at least some small capacity. They might have some sort of plans to fill with content in the meantime…

This is some very nice news for physical interaction/immersion in VR though!

also introduces positional interactions, which transform how players engage with the game world. Rather than simply pressing a button to trigger events, players are required to physically mimic actions, such as toggling a TV on or off by touching the screen, hacking CCTV footage by tapping on a keyboard, or poisoning a glass by holding and dropping a vial over it. This feature extends to opening doors, creating smoother and more natural interactions. Furthermore, quest items now remain physical and can be inspected in hand, allowing players to utilize them directly within set pieces—swiping a keycard or turning a lock in a door, for example.

Well, this pretty much forces them to make Year 5 I guess. It’s not that far off, just 3 months, but it makes me think what troubles they had. So, remember:

On the bright side, the delay means IO clearly realise that they have to get this VR port right at launch.

Year 5 (technically) confirmed!

A little strange they announced a December window back in September (3 months away) then realized two months later, oh wait, we need 3 more!

Clearly underestimating the amount of time/work they’d be able to complete! But hey, if it ends up great, then great!

I’m crossing my fingers that they can expand VR support to something other than the main campaign missions of WoA, since once again that’s nothing new

Now I’m worried it means that the whole live production team is on it. So no good content for the main game platform will happen until at least April, May.Maybe even Summer 2025, if it happens at all.

My hopes for both the Splitter roadmap and the tentative Y5 spring one just plummeted.
I just want the freelancer coin after two years and like one non-silly, non-recycled-and-a-bit-mediocre suit.

(I also hope it means that they are not crunching, but taking a reasonable pace for the team)

Is there a higher quality image anywhere of the new HITMAN PSVR2 wallpaper from the blog anywhere?

That images annoys me because the gun on the left is just a flipped copy of the one on the right. You can tell because all the text on the silencer is upside down.
