World of Assassination 2024 teaser

… Amendment XXV?

You Better Watch Out and Heaven or Hell, also count, technically, because you have to stop assassins from eliminating their target in this levels, too. It just so happens that 47 is the target, but still…

Amendment XXV I do not count as the president never arrives. YBWO and Heaven or Hell I do not count either as it’s 47 as the target and not a random NPC.

What I suggested in my post was an elusive that is actively out to kill someone else in the level.

They were actively out to kill someone else in the level, it just doesn’t take place. I think what you mean is, the target actually can kill someone else on the map, like the Rival in the Envy escalation. I see what you mean now.

Mhmm, precisely.

20 characters of fun

Another ET idea of mine I’ve just remembered was concept of a target with a short loop in a secure area, who automatically investigates any KOs/kills that take place nearby.
Lore-wise I was thinking of them having some sort of experimental cybernetic augmentation allowing to somehow track health state of nearby people, designed to use in either search&rescue missions, medical purposes or whatever. Chongqing’s Block or Hokkaido’s hospital would make sense for this target, given their high-tech vibes and tight areas.
If this sci-fi bio is too much for Hitman, an alternate take would be a paranoid target who constantly checks up on bodyguards scattered nearby over radio and investigates if one doesn’t respond (think Noel Crest and his comm center). In this case only specific NPCs would trigger a lure. Maybe in this scenario the target could also have an evacuation plan (like Ascensionist) once a lot of guards disappear.

I for one actually really liked Sarajevo Six’s Mercenary and the general idea of a more vigilant target whose paranoia could be turned against him, but I will admit he felt clunky, hard to predict and 4 super enforcers were a bit overkill.
I thought a KO-based retake on the formula would make it both easier to engage with target’s default loop, while making lures to specific places easier to pull off consistently.

I might be getting too carried away with the scope of hypothetical new ETs. After all we don’t even have a full confirmation that new ETs will undeniably happen.

in 25-24 days year 4 will kick off with several ETs…

I am not sure what exactly will come to Hitman. ET aren’t my favorite mode, even if I understand they are much easier to develop than standard missions.

In the case of the new ET, I will expect some different type of challenge, so the target in mission can be someone who needs to be protected (blue color in instinct). That is something that is now only in the standard mission - Mendoza and in escalation - Wrath.

Probably the best place for that can be Mumbai, the biggest map in Hitman. But as I remember, the IOI said there would not be any ET.

In my opinion, I think IOI will stick with the seasonal roadmaps now, especially as Year 4 looks likely to be last year of content, so naturally this will prolong things throughout the year. If they do stick with the seasonal roadmaps, that’s a perfect way to bring in those seasonal decorations for the Safehouse! Spring - Easter decorations, Autumn - Halloween decorations and Winter would be the Christmas ones. Technically we’ve already got the Summer ones with the inflatable crocodiles in the lake haha

I would very much prefer if they did the monthly roadmaps, since it’s more exciting if there is some kind of reveal every month. Conversely, if a seasonal roadmap happens to have no particularly interesting (or rather ‘new’) content, then it’s effectively a wasted one and we have to wait three or so months again to see if we actually get something… I mean the last thing I want to start Year 4 with is hearing that we’ll be getting nothing but ET re-runs, FCs, and ‘free location trials’ all spring.

aka the holiday roadmap. I’ve had no reason to launch the game since early December - so I’m coming up two months since I last played the game because the ET Galore had nothing for me. That terrible roadmap killed an almost three year habit of playing the game at a minimum once a week.

And now newer players that played the Galore are in for a boring roadmap soon because the four ETs that are coming were one third of the first batch in the Galore - so they’ve played these very, very recently already.

What a shit show…

Not gonna lie I felt the same about Year 3, even Year 2 to some extent.
At this point I’m convinced IOI will keep pumping out more roadmaps as long as they can afford getting someone at the studio to keep relaunching ETs and curate featured contracts. Especially now that there’s no next WoA entry on the horizon that would take over the current one like with two previous games (unless 007 game does that).

Forget most of what I typed before I am stupid, and with a severe lack of sleep, it’s only part one that dropped at 11.99. In my defense even steamdb is confused by the way the price is showed.

I believe the steam page just received a brand new header. I would guess it’s for the Chinese New Year from the look of it.
Part one on sale for the occasion, to the confusion of both me and steam search function.
(I am deeply embarrassed and will hide in shame for the next few days)

header_alt_assets_0

So, obligatory wild speculation for a Chinese New Year content/mission/escalation.
(do not take that seriously)
(it’s evidently for an official port of the Chongqing Noddle Massacre mod, hence the sniper in Chongqing.)
(I don’t know if the header is new, or already part off the normal rotation for such occasion. I only went on steam to look at the specs in case I go PC in the next few years. And then went “uh, looks neat,”)

(and for @Lewisnic1 : obviously such acknowledgment of a seasonal event can only mean one thing: Freelancer Seasonal Decoration in the Safehouse. It’s logically linked.)

I wish they’d also changed the game’s title in the library from “Hitman 3” to “Hitman WOA” :x

They should. They rebranded HITMAN 3 to World of Assassination, didn’t they? why it’s called HITMAN 3 on steam then? it’s confusing.

It’s got to happen this year hasn’t it?? :joy::crossed_fingers:t2: I won’t know what to do with myself if they arrive haha

For IOI to acknowledge this after all this time, surely something must be cooking?:crossed_fingers:t2:

It’s like that for me on Xbox as well. Wonder if you buy the newer WOA edition (any platform) if it’s labeled as such or if it’s still labeled Hitman 3?

It’ll probably still be called Hitman 3. IDK, maybe its something to do with not being able to change the .exe file name, maybe it’s because doing a name-change through console retailers would cost them money they aren’t willing to spend.

I’ve never seen a case where a game’s full title was changed on the dashboard/UI of a console due to an update so maybe something like that just isn’t possible for some reason?

I don’t know about the console versions, but on Steam it’s perfecly possible to change a game’s name, as I’ve seen a few of those I own change name over the years, usually to reflect rebranding or some kind of definitive edition (like that’s the case for Hitman: WOA).
