Year 2: May - Official Community RUBBER DUCK Featured Contracts

Here’s my method, which I’m glad to see OutsideXbox nearly had figured out in their livestream
You can do it with just one Duck, but you kind of have to be lucky

When I was testing the contract on my own, none of the NPCs went to the 2nd floor bathrooms. Maybe when it went to Featured something changed, or the update did it, but it feels like one NPC takes a detour more often than not.

or maybe this

I also have a theory that sometimes the nervous NPC who pukes in the toilet can mess up their routes. Sometimes when the NPC “picks” what disposal method to use, he’s already occupying the toilet, so they go to the 2nd-closest area. But sometimes he stops using it by the time they pick, so they turn around and go to that area… idk it’s weird.

But, if you’re lucky, an NPC will change their mind and go to the same bathroom. When one’s complete, lure them to the other one, and you can have your two kills and hiding place.

Just in general, ALL contracts change (specifically NPC behavior) once they’re published. I think the reasons is, when you’re making the contract the “target” is actually just a regular NPC in creator mode. But once you publish, that regular NPC becomes a target and gets target scripting.

That’s when they become asshats. Harder to distract, ignoring distractions outright, getting other NPCs to check out distractions instead.

Not sure if that also relates to changing paths, or if that’s due to the fix ioi made to make sick NPCs favor toilets over waste bins (which was a BIG problem in H2).

I’ve never notice that. All my contracts I have play-tested after publishing and never noticed any difference between creation and published. Maybe I’ve just been lucky or I haven’t created a contract that scripting has changed after publishing.

A specific example would be the contract @Kevin_Rudd made, “Water Way To Go”. The kill condition is Fall - Accident, the trick being that NPCs that drown and die in water count as dying by Fall - Accident in the game. It’s also intended to be a Sniper contract where you can kill all five targets from one location.

Problem is, the female target (after the contract was published) is a pain in the ass to bullet lure to the water. She either ignores the shot or asks one of the other girls next to her (that are further away!) to check it out.

Rudd confirmed that NPC didn’t do that while he was making the contract. And you can go to the normal Landslide contract and see for yourself. She ALWAYS goes to the bullet distraction when she’s not a target.

I’ve seen the same changes in regular trending contracts as well. So it’s not just FCs.

I’m surprised you weren’t aware about this till now haha. All the main targets on this mission simply ignore any weapon they come across. They don’t even report it to another guard to come and retrieve it. Has been like this day 1. It makes sense because otherwise you would be able to easily take out 2 out of 5 targets while playing the main mission. Would defeat the purpose of removing the electrocution phone when it comes to this level.

Yeah, I remember him discussing that one. Mind you, I rarely use bullet distractions and for that one I didn’t use the sniper rifle.

I didn’t have too much issue with the coin lure to the sewer on that target, though it was picky depending on if the roaming NPC was present. It would be interesting to see a comparison through video of target and NPC behaviour and its change in contracts.
