007 "First Light" News Thread

The dev video from Copenhagen is really hyping me up. It’s great to hear the developers talking about it with such sincere confidence. That alone makes me believe that they’ve got something good here.

New details I gathered here is that the gameplay will be more fast and impulsive than Hitman but still with a lot of freedom of approach. Big, lavish social-stealth openings to the levels. That is good news!

My wish is just that it’s still more WOA than Absolution because freedom of approach doesn’t necessarily mean big sandboxes… there could be a lot of freedom of approach in a more linear level design as well.

I just hope there will be big sandboxes even if they’re more streamlined and accessible.

I also like the theme of the confident, naive youth coming to terms with a harsh reality and overcoming it. An everlasting theme of storytelling, but equally meaningful.

Another question is, how many levels? I am hoping for at least 10-12 big levels, with smaller segments/car chases etc. in between.

Bc if they go the WOA route with only 6 maps at launch, it’ll be a tougher sell for them. It just doesn’t sound like much even if us Hitman fans know it certainly can be.

This seems to be the only active thread in the “007 Project” channel (That should probably be renamed).
It’s not news but wanted to say it would be very funny if pre-00 young Bond starts off being terrible at charming women and needs to learn as part of his 00 training

Quoting myself here but another thought as to why this part made me happy: if the story really is about a transition from optimistic youth to a hardened man, that means that we’ll potentially already have a rugged, older Bond in the first sequel. The sooner the better!

Yeah, I think it’ll have to be more than 6 main levels by virtue of the story they’re trying to tell. I just feel like the pacing wouldn’t allow for it. Im thinking 6-8 (hoping for 10) regular sized maps, with a healthy dosing of car chases, linear set pieces, and possibly simply smaller maps set in between.

We still don’t know how replayable the maps will be, but I imagine that there will be a mucj more equal focus between stealth and action compared to Hitman, which should lead to more variety hopefully.

I’m not getting the free items by signing up. I already have an IOI account and I think I registered again.
The website is telling me it succeed and an email was sent for verification but I didn’t receive anything, not even in spam.

Anyone else experiencing this issue?

I think it just takes a while, if you don’t get it in 48h that’s probably when you should start getting worried

Took awhile for me too. The mail came 2 or 3 days later.

I just realised the poker mechanic will likely make its way into the Bond game . Texas Hold ‘em was all the rage when Craig took over as Bond, so it’s easy to see why they changed it for the film, but really they play Chemin de fer (railroad baccarat) in Casino Royal. Bond also plays this is a few other films. I hope if there is gambling in the 007 game that it’s true to the books and not Texas hold em.

Just wait till I start replicating that PPK. I will give them one more reason

Would be a great deepcut if they did include baccarat. If we do get to go to a casino, having the casino basically be fully functional would be wonderful.
