If you jump through the window to where Akka and Crest have their meeting (and stay crouched), you will not lose SA despite the guard standing directly outside looking at you. He will come investigate, and you can hide behind a chair and subdue him when his back is turned. Then later you can trigger the meeting and take Akka out with a sniper when both doors to the room are closed, and you should be fine.
It’s not the most fun way, but it works. Alternatively you can get rid of her personal guard and the two guards up in the pirate ruins, wait for her and Crest to go up there, and then snipe them both off the ruins into the rocks below.
Both methods involve manipulating guards though, which not everyone loves. OR you could do it like Frote and hit her right at the top of the stairs to her office — but I don’t have the durians for that.
What the?? My first playthrough I did all her tasks, and gave her the photo.
Then my 2nd time going through it (the next day) I still had to give her the coconut and cigar box before getting the quest about the photo.
Maybe I didn’t let the entire script play out the first time (I gave her the photo after Akka was already dead, and I was leaving the level), so the game considered it “incomplete” That second time around, I did let the entire opportunity play out (Farah talks to Akka, Akka calls a meeting and kills Crest), so maybe once I go for it a 3rd time, I’ll only get the photo quest.
I had to go up to the colonial ruins on a scouting mission to find out what the right timing is. Around 4 mins seems to be the earliest you can do this.
(Added by Edit: This doesn’t seem to be true, I’m working on an alternate pull. He’s in the right spot for the first 30 seconds or so of the mission as well… obviously you can’t get up the tower in that time… but)
Since Orson has guard behavior he’ll come running if three shots in short order hits something near him.
OK, I realize noone’s been asking for/about this, but that hasn’t stopped me so far.
The earliest 3-shot lure for Orson isn’t at around 4 minutes. It’s within the first 30 seconds. Depending on the timing Orson might not come though. With shots at 15 seconds and 28 seconds I’ve always gotten him. At 20 seconds I got two guards…
Obviously you can stay by the village and wait for him, but I ran to meet him in order to show where he comes from.
Also, you can do this with a pistol as well, but the sniper illustrates the point you need to shoot at better.
Noticed you can’t bring the “Brine-damaged SMG” on your person, you need to smuggle it to a hidden stash/agency pickup/suitcase. This is weird because you can bring the Slapdash SMG on your person which is the same SMG model minus the suppressor.
Good video Kent. I also was messing with Orson to see how I could lure him out. However, your strat is better because it’s faster. I might tailor my route because of you.
Yeah I can tell. Btw if anybody is on PS4, I made a contract on Orson Mills called “Orson Mills Test” so you can plan on strats on how to get Orson to the village.
So, uh, I’ve finished AI and completed all challanges. Some thoughts:
I was scared it would be like Santa Fortuna. In reality, I feel like it’s closer to Haven and Mumbai, which is okay with me
It ties pretty well with story, but I was expecting it to be after Haven, so that before we go after Partners, we need to tie some loose ends with Grey’s former militia
I’m okay with there not being technically mission stories, and that you have to find them on your own (IO made it sure you can follow them very easily)
There seems to be a bigger emphasis on pre-planning in some stories like when you have to puncture barrel behind container before you meet with Noel, or how you have to loosen gas canister if you are meeting with Akka as Hippie
Unlocks are fine, Molotov is completely bonkerrs, and needs to be fixed so it does not penetrate through walls. Emetic grenade is nice, aswell as bone lockpick, and SMG’s are probably thing because quite a few people compalined about lack of them as unlocks. Kukri looks gorgeous, but I doubt anyone will use it. Hook is whatever. Wetsuit should allow you to use Mendoza exit, otherwise is nice. I wish we could unlock that emetic fruit rather than emetic grenade, but since it is legal even when thrown, it might be “”““OP””“” (but since we have Molotov, it makes zero sense)
Targets were good, and had some neat kill opportunities my favorite being Noel’s fall from bridge
Light in this mission is too dark, I had to actually pick up torch at first when I arrived, and thought I would have to navigate around with it. Is this game in this regard much darker than previous entries?
Was happy to see student, hippie, Orson Mills and Agent Smith back
I am baffled by those Ether pamphlets. They are cleary teasing new location, but how on earth is it gonna fit in canon? Wasn’t Ether damaged already by Grey before they became partners? What else are they gonna do to them?
A little glitch I’ll have to report - Brine-Damage SMG not only cannot be used as primary weapon in starting mission and has to be smuggled in stash, but seems to be silenced, while lacking sillencer. Same issue goes with Noel’s DAK which he drops after he dies. They use model without silencer while being silent (but B-D SMG was might not meant to be silenced).
Overall, I’m pretty positive, and giving it 7/10. There are bugs around map, some unlock are meh and IO fricked up launch (again). How they will do with Freelancer makes me worried.
How so? I had no issues whatsoever. I know some have said there were crashes, but that could have been their individual system as much as IOI. I never lost server connectivity, never had the game crash, and didn’t encounter any game-breaking bugs that I couldn’t work around. What was your experience?
I did not have any, because I was on holiday without my laptop, but I saw that they delayed launch by 3 hours, which is pretty messy. Also, classic challanges were missing, but credit where credit is due, it was relatively soon fixed.
