FREE! Didnt see that coming. Its a nice surprise. And im happy we got our news fix today after all.
I like that idea.
New York felt like a gamechanger culturally for the franchise. I dont know if im crazy and no one knows what I mean but to me before that map everyone used Sapienza if they liked the modern games or Blood Money if they didnt as the yardstick for good Hitman. On forums it was always “Hitman 2 is good, but no map tops Sapienza” or “I prefer how Blood Money does things”. Then New York comes out and it’s always “the Bank is the best level”, “it’s totally like a Blood Money level” and with Hitman 3 it was “oh this is perfect. It’s a little bigger than the bank but manageable” and “i hope the dlc is as good as the bank”. Then I felt this is where more media on the franchise was coming out and people started going back to the old levels and sharing how brilliant they are. So I think New York was a gateway drug for new fans appreciating small levels and for old fans to get into the new games. It feels like IOI tweaked their level design to ape the Bank too, even in bigger maps, just like how I felt the second game aped Sapienza at every turn even in smaller maps like Haven
But Mumbai already topped Sapienza.
Not culturally. Mumbai is one of my favorites but to most people perception from normies of the maps is:
Paris, Bangkok, Hokkaido, Whittleton, Sgail, Haven, Mendoza - the good maps
Sapienza, Miami, New York, Dartmoor - the best maps
Santa Fortuna, Mumbai, Dubai, Berlin, Chongqing - the okayish maps no one cares about
Marrakesh, Colorado, Hawkes Bay, Carpathian - the bad maps
And I had to make a few tough calls there on if Chongqing would be perceived as good or okay and if Berlin would need its own category to illustrate its love or hate status or even put it in both bad and good to fit that reputation
I’m going to watch the trailer and comment after

Like a faucet.
Joke aside, i’m absolutely ecstatic about this trailer, whatever it’s leaked or not, i don’t care. I had some apprehension when i saw the first visuals weeks ago, because a level happening on an island at night where every area is probably hostile, i wasn’t too thrilled about it. I was greatly wrong. It looks fun, deep as usual, i already love the small story inside the big story that it can provide, the different npcs we see, the very probable target - maybe plural? There is a rebellious modern pirates feel to it that i find very à propos. Anyway! I am in the forced process to move out but i can’t wait for july the 26th!
Whaaat? People think Marrakesh is a bad map, really? Hawkes Bay get so much hate i don’t know why, its only negative aspect is to function as a short version of how to play, but the level in itself is gorgeous.
From what i gathered here and there, it’s the lack of mechanical possibilities that players usually complain about. Colorado is hostility all around, Hawkes Bay and Carpathes are defined through their purpose in the plot and a change of pacing. For the rest, you can play anyway you want it. So that’s why i agree with @Leakerman, New York is good return to smaller situational levels, very gripped with intrigues etc. A small universe inside a small universe inside a…
Yeah there is probably still a lot of hate for it with some people. A lot of people might still feel like the level is just two small building infiltration targets with limited routes wedged between a lot of wasted space in the middle.
I don’t know how to use gifs.
And might you be one of these people?
Teasing. I don’t care.
Hate? No but I do think Morocco is a weak level for the reason I mentioned, It has things I enjoy but I am not going to say it is the best level.
At least in its base form, AHBOS is far superior.
I agree. But i don’t care, i love this level! I love all the levels except Colorado for a one reason that i won’t disclose.
This is either 2 or 3 targets. The way the camera shows the guy in green from Farah’s perspective to a medium closeup tells me he’s a target. Then Farah herself could be one. Narrator Family-oriented Island Boss is either a target or the person hiring you for the hit. Or Farah is hiring you to kill the matriarch. Or nothing I said.
Edit: Shit, it’s not Farah’s perspective from which we see Sergeant Past His Prime, it’s Bandana Boss’s. I still think Middle Aged Army Man is a target, and Bandana Boss has to be, considering all the armed guards with her.
I wonder how many camera usage prompts and interactions will be in this level.
Please tell me there aren’t pamphlets scattered all about.
The boats seem to be working.
I used to hate Colorado. And then one night, I was granted an audience with God in my dreams, and would you guess what He told me?
“Colorado is mid, but definitely not the worst in the trilogy.”
And so that’s been my take ever since.
You were this close to being funny until you said “not the worst in the trilogy”, my face closed.
I wanted to follow this topic but i don’t want to be spoiled!
Ahem… Remind who Farrah is?
Lalalalala! i don’t want know!! *leaving *
It’s conjecture based on the bar sign behind face-painted power-standing woman.
I always find the dislike for Hawke’s Bay interesting, because I fucking love that map. The setting is very appreciable in tone and it’s the only map where I feel like a deep special operations assassin, and a wonderful change of pace because of that. God knows we have enough “social stealth” maps. (Ort-Meyer sent 47 on non-social stealth, more clandestine military spec ops-type missions did he not?) It is on the smaller, more compact end of maps, though (but I like that aspect of Hawke’s Bay in particular).
I played the hell out of Hawke’s Bay in the Hitman 2 demo and still play it frequently.
Hawke’s Bay is absolutely beautiful. It’s such an idyllic, serene map. Those damn militia soldiers walking around the place and cluttering up the view actually offends me at times.
