Hitman woa is like ioi’s sisyphus, no matter how much content they deliver, or how much they do what the fans want. The fans will never have enough and will always wamt more more more
Y2 was announced at the end of November 2021 and rolled out from January of 2022. People were surprised by the announcement. Freelancer ended up being delayed a long time, but the plan was in Spring and other Y2 content as early as January. From that timeline, there’s plenty of time for IO to potentially announce new DLC for 2024.
Not saying this is super likely, but I think it’s certainly still possible.
They said that Hitman was in IO’s DNA and in this Danish interview CEO Hakan Abrak said that they would give 47 a break for now, but still work on things in the universe. Whatever that means. He also said that finishing the Trilogy was just the beginning, so it seems expanding on WOA was always their vision. Whether or not that ended with Freelancer, probably depends on how much money WOA is generating.
I really doubt they’re already actively working on WOA’s successor though. The spelling of HITMAN with capital letters being in active development in the blogpost, is specifically associated with WOA. Whether that is just referring to the smalltime DLC and maintenance, or it’s more substantial DLC - who knows.
I agree, it might be a foolish hope, like I said. I wouldn’t bet on it necessarily.
But since everything H3/WOA has been doing so well for IO, there is a chance… that it only makes sense financially to create new content for it on the side of their new IPs. DLC of a cash cow game equals relatively low cost production (as the foundation is there) and keeping the game relevant and talked about, driving more even sales to the main product.
The contemporary videogame industry does love its DLC. Luckily, with Hitman, I do too hehe
Didn’t someone say recently that, prior to IOI having to go it alone on H2, there was a planned mission about a cruise ship stuck in the ice in Antarctica?
Honestly insane that gaming fandoms take content in video games for granted in such a way it’s accepted as a bygone conclusion that IO Interactive will just pump out as much content as they can hand over fist.
Hey, it’s a mark of IOI’s quality. The most important rule for success in the entertainment industry is: always leave them wanting more. That’s when you know you’re doing it right. For all the flaws, we want more of what this latest trilogy has given us, and no matter how good it is, yes, we will always find ways to ask for something more, because it will have already satisfied so many previous desires. That’s good work, that’s success at your business, your art. IOI probably takes it as a mark of pride that we’re still asking for more after working on essentially the same game for seven freaking years. Even GTA V fans got bored by now.
After Hitman 3’s success, IO’s new Brighton studio is secretly working on Hitman 4/9 for a swift 2024 release.
(And other lies I tell myself)
Yeah, we live from month to month lol, we gotta have new content or we just enter an NPC mode and find ourselves sit infront of the screen wondering what to play
Good to see someone else mentioning that Pamphlet. While I’d (obviously) love to see another location as well, I hope that (if it ever comes to that), it’d be without Grey.
Seeing him return for “Flashback” to Ambrose Island was a welcome addition, so constantly having to clean his messes up for him chips away at his character and also couldn’t hurt to have another “silent” mission. Hell, Berlin where that is the case is my favorite level and while many factors contribute to that fact, the cut off atmosphere is certainly one of them.
ice cream yummy yummy!
Oh wow! It’s the first time I’ve picked up on this!
The hope is definitely alive!
I’m telling you that Ether facility map is coming.
I certainly wouldn’t mind, especially if the facility were in the snowy freaking mountains.

I really doubt they’re already actively working on WOA’s successor though. If I recall correctly, the actual trademark for Hitman games in general is “HITMAN”. Also early development can just include concept art, mockups, testing various new gameplay elements, etc. There’s a lot that can be done before the project moves into active development.
I may have missed it, but did we ever get the final conclusion to the Washington Twin Sisters Father, Byron Washington III?
Maybe (& hopefully), we’ll get a “shot” at him in a potential new map for this Ether Facility and/or the Pax Mundus Foundation…
We did not. We also never got any answers on that Church of Ascendants that kept coming up in conversations across the trilogy, and always seemed like it was gonna come up later in some kind of role.
That special something that’s unused for now in the gamefiles, might be something that’s coming.
Not to mention that the reveal of freelancer had shown Christmas decorations, so they might do the same for halloween.

we just enter an NPC mode and find ourselves sit infront of the screen wondering what to play
I think i spend half my free time doing this or listening to music
No, this spelling was specifically used for Hitman 2016 and forwards i.e. what became WOA. The old games were never called HITMAN. We even used HITMAN (all caps) on this forum to distinguish between the old games and the new untitled ones, before it ended up with the WOA title.
That was me.
Basically io had to change up the size and scope of H2 when they went independent. This was their original plan:
Russia and Johannesburg are there too?! We don’t ever even get to go to Africa except to Morocco! IOI, you’ve got shit available here already, let’s see it!
