I hate that Name and i hate that they’ve broken the Naming convention of the games.
Hitman: Codename 47
Hitman 2: Silent Assassin
Hitman: Contracts
Hitman: Blood Money
Hitman: Absolution
HITMAN
HITMAN 2
HITMAN 3
Just terrible.

Agreed. Also, now that the whole thing is one game, World of Assassination is kinda ok as a subtitle, but still somewhat awkward to say. I still think the three independent games should have not only avoided the all-caps titling, but also had the subtitles: Shadow Client, Providence, Partners, respectively.
Yeah, I really hope that IOI could do a small rebranding of newest games and basically say that HITMAN 1, 2 and 3 are Hitman 6 Part 1, 2 and 3 respectively, with WOA being simply Hitman 6: World of Assassination.
I think they kind of did that. I mean, no 6, but only one game had a number in its title, so it’s not like it’s needed. By rebranding it as WoA, and it was originally supposed to be one game with multiple “seasons” to it until Square Enix split, it’s kinda understood that this is really one game with three installments, and now they’ve officially put it together.
Another nitpick is that Codename 47 and Blood Money can be easily referred to via acronyms - C47 and BM respectively. When it comes to other games however, it gets a little more awkward.
Absolution has only one word in its subtitle so you cannot really shorten it to anything other than the awkward Abs. Contracts - same, and you also have to be careful and avoid possible confusion with the Contracts of the Contracts mode of the more recent games. Hitman 2: Silent Assassin - you have to refer to it as H2SA or something, because the main title Hitman 2 might be confused with Hitman 2 (2018), and its subtitle used on its own can be confused with the eponymous in-game term - the Silent Assassin rating. HITMAN (2016) has to be used with its release year as it doesn’t have it’s own subtitle and could be confused with the whole franchise as a whole. Then we have World of Assassination that can refer to the game that came out in 2016, the post-release update of Hitman 3 and the trilogy as a whole. It’s messy.
You can also refer to Codename 47 as greatest Game IO Interactive ever made.
Don’t worry, I have inside knowledge that the next game will be named:
hitman IV
I just know its going to be HITM4N, just to fuck with me
Please don’t say “Bloody Mary” three times in front of this particular mirror.
Just a friendly reminder: this topic is for discussing The Drop.
If you all want to talk about trademarks or how to spell/number the HiTMaN series, please do it elsewhere.
Oh, I´ll enjoy the Sarajevo Six later this week alright (hopefully for more than 5 minutes).
I actually like the Warlord and Ex-dictator, though admittedly because of what they add to the lore rather than how they´re designed (same with the Fixer).
Assuming that the ETA is meant to be IO´s definitive way of making ETs permanently playable, then I don´t think it´s unreasonable to want to actually have all the ETs (minus the obvious exceptions with licensing issues) featured there, preferably at least twice so as not to be limited by the same sequence and complication every time.
An additional reason for me is also the fact that I was only able to start playing H1 in 2018, so I only ever got to play the Fixer once (can´t recall if it was still H1 or legacy in H2) and would like to do so again (mods aside).
And that´s another thing. H1 had the most ETs and yet some only appeared once in the ETA, one not at all, and most if not all others twice. Granted, they weren´t as well designed as the H3 or even H2 ones, but it still leaves a large feeling of disproportion in the ETA compared to the H2/H3 ETs, some of which even have several batches for themselves and repeat more often due to their small numbers. I was genuinely expecting the ETA to last somewhat longer to mix them up more.
Because they are unfinished, their briefing and voice lines make no sense now, and are generally not all that fun
I perfectly realise that, and it´s precisely because of this that I´ve been hoping all these years that IO would actually finish them in some kind of playable and fun form (likely as a Special Assignment), rather than just let all the work put into them go to waste. Again, I mainly like them for the lore additions, but having one more nighttime Marrakesh mission would also be nice.

Same here, but that’s not my main point. I quite like it when they make lore relevant characters. But every other aspect of The Fixer, the Brothers and The Ex-Dictator and The Warlord aged pretty badly.
For The Brothers; their entire briefing and interactions make no sense now lore-wise (why would ETHER be working for the Delgado cartel when Grey uses the cartel to ship off mercenaries to wage his providence-ending war exactly?) – their entire reason for being targets makes no sense now.
I like lore, but it does not trump gameplay design; the gameplay of both that are quite linear and restrictive might I add (The Brothers is The Food Critic V2 but in an even more public area).
I don’t think redoing elusives is on the cards at IOI HQ, sadly. Wish it were though.

As was I, though I suspect the complaining of their repeated batch releases put an end to ETA for the time being, which is a shame because I do genuinely like them and it’s a nice way to shake things up.

How do you figure? They remain the ETs that require us to use the most caution and to actually pay attention and think about what we’re doing. Every other ET you can just poison a drink or drop a battery in a puddle and it’s over, maybe a collect an item here or there, but nothing especially difficult. Being essentially the only ones that present actual challenge to this day doesn’t seem like poorly-aged design to me.
I like lore, but it does not trump gameplay design;
I guess that confirms what map it’s in, not that there was really much doubt.
Would of been nice to use Ambrose sigh
Hey, may be there’ll be more to come. The Drop could just be the first in a new wave. Who can say at this point?
Hopefully so! I would love to play some new and fresh ETs!
The Drop could just be the first in a new wave.
They better not have creepy silicone hand-puppet “47” announcing another ET!
My eyes are a gift and I don’t want to resort to gouging them out just to avoid ever seeing that thing again!
