Could you not argue that 47’s increasing sense of anxiety precipitates his breakdown in Absolution? In a way they’re both about what happens to him when his employer can’t protect him from people who want to use him (or his DNA) or people like him (by creating Victoria).

Well of course there is more to the portrayal of 47, the one of the reasons I mentioned regarding why I dislike Blood Money’s portrayal of his character. Reducing him to a T-800 with little to no redeeming qualities. Personally I would’t say that SA is about ICA not being able to protect him, but him coming to terms with his creation.
Sorry I should have been more clear. SA is definitely his what am I game but there’s a persistent reminder in BM that the walls are closing in and the ICA is being hacked apart at every turn until it’s just him and Diana, and all because the Franchise wants his DNA, not even his skills.
Yeah now it makes a bit more sense to me, yes you are quite right. I do think that’s an interesting angle to the overall story, sadly 47 character took a few step backwards in my opinion. Creating a false perception to those who where introduced to the series through BM, who found his more nurturing side in Absolution to be out of character.
I think you’ve just summed an opinion I didn’t even know I had I’ve always found something off about 47 in BM (especially since playing C47 - Contracts)
I think 47 seems more cold-blooded too because the story in BM is maybe the one with the least focus on him as a character. He’s sort of an outside object in the story. The Franchise wants 47 for what he represents, clones. Like Bourbonade said
They have no interest in him as man. The story doesn’t ask him to exam his beliefs or explore parts of himself we/he haven’t seen. He has no personal stake in this really other than it being his job and he doesn’t want to die.
I’ve usually seen 47 being a central component of the story, rather than an outside force as a cliche and weakness of the writing. But now maybe I think it’s a strength. We get to see 47 as more than this creepy bald grim reaper
Well… congratulations Norse, mission completed. You’ve successfully made me like BM less
(Also I’ve never been onboard with 47 killing the bird in BM #NotMy47)
That’s part of why I’ve tried to come up with a Unified Theory of Canon across all the games. Rescuing Victoria, comforting her as he carries her around the orphanage, holding her as she cries on the rooftop - so good! And also a very important bridge from the first couple of games where he was only good for killing to WOA where he seems more settled and comfortable in his own skin, the finished product being who we see in that cabin.
Exactly. That always seemed a bit edgy for edginess’s sake. Buuuuut it was followed up by him completely turning off his brain when Diana came in so I’ll allow it.
Most people feel this way, when I tell them that BM is inferior and their opinions are in fact wrong. But luckily I’m a light house in a pitch black sea full of misguided individuals.
I loved this part, of course 47 would feel protective and save an innocent child from a fate he sadly he himself had no say in. I hope to see Victoria again, in some form.
it’s a perfect bridge that being build all the way back towards the original games and an awesome echo of his monologue at the end of SA. First he came to terms with what he was, now he came to terms with being more then a tool.
okay, i can forgive that 47 doesn’t use the Umbrella correctly in China, but how on earth can they add a Pimpstick and NOT give 47 a walking animation with it??

But seriously, holy sh*t if you’d told me back in 2016 that WoA would end on a kinda beautifully humanising moment for 47 and that I’d genuinely love it then I probably would’ve died laughing. Like ngl, the story of WoA was by no means perfect, but they absolutely nailed that finish
February patch notes: we didn’t make any new content, been busy working on this sick cane animation.
idk, i liked when 47 couldn’t deal with his emotions. On a side note I’d personally would prefer getting a kiss from Lei Ling over a tango with my supervisor
